March - monthly building competition - Name that film!

edited March 2017 in Building and Techniques
The awards season is over, films have been watched, critiqued, discussed and, in my case generally scored out of 10. More importantly, LEGO Batman has opened to great acclaim. A film theme seems pertinent.

Build something that depicts a scene from a film of your choice. For added interest don't tell us what it is and watch the guesses roll in (unless of course it's some obscure shenmo/gas lamp fantasy etc. in which case we'll need all the help we can get to regcognise the scene).

Same rules about number of pictures posted (2) and size wise please restrict yourself to 32x32.

Update, I looked up the scene on youtube and finally found it. Turns out, the blue car does not fly off a cliff like I was thinking it did. However, a surfboard does go flying off the top of the red car which should be in front of the white car wrecked into a car I failed to add. Basically my build is a disaster.

I have never actually typed that sentence in the 6 months now that I have been creating simple MOCs, but I have thought it dozens of times as I am tearing something apart that doesn't make sense or realizing that what was supposed to look elegant or sophisticated actually looks like someone just dumped bricks in a pile.

As for your movie, based on the surfboard and the cop, I am going to go with Point Break.

Looks good to me @Bumblepants, trying anything in microscale is impressive. It's just occurred to me that I'm a complete numskull. I don't watch films so I'm never going to have any idea what they are. On the other hand my dear LEGO facilitator is a film buff - so maybe all is not lost.

No, good guess though. It is a buddy cop film from that era.

Yes! I guess it wasn't too horrible of a build after all.

I really like the way you used a trans clear piece to support the car falling over the cliff!

"Godzilla 5:  The one where Godzilla and Kong go on a bender and 'Zilla's 14th pint doesn't agree with him, with unfortunate consequences"

The prequel to "Kong's not coming out tonight as he's still washing his fur"

^^ That's from Charlie and the Chocolate factory, the area in which Augustus Gloop goes for a swim in the chocolate river that is mixed via waterfall.

It is Karate Kid if I am not mistaken, if so I think they should be around a guy looking like Ralph Macchio getting his tail kicked..

Yes, it's karate kid.  I still haven't found the right torso for Ralph Macchio.  Need a dark blue chargers jersey.  Guess I could use a plain dark blue torso.

@bendybadger there's still time to get building. ;)

Not sure if it is good thing or bad, but Karate Kid was the only one I got instantly.  It's ingenious.  :)

@Legoboy leave growing up for the grown-ups, nothing wrong with keeping a young mindset.

Yup. It's the scene from the first part where Bilbo gets Sting from the troll's cave. Unfortunately Bombur sneezed, so there's nothing but dust left of the trolls that were petrified :)

Yeah! I looked! Surprisingly, out of a while draw of Minifigs, I had no yellow legs or torso!

This month I'm going to award two prizes - one to @Bumblepants for the variety of technique and general participation levels (and I really liked your Se7en vignette) other to @rdflego for still managing to build an entry whilst setting up April's competition and including an excellent field of corn while doing so.  :)

And of course - you both need to pm me with addresses for your prizes.
