    Also came across this in a dark corner of my Star Wars collection , Barbie and Sindy would have killed to get one of these. :)

    I was talking to a coworker of my today and he said his dad's "claim to fame" was that he made the metal molds that were used to cast the original Star Wars figures. He said that when he was a kid he had big piles of test figures/rejects (unfortunately long gone).

    Guess what - collecting retired action figures is just like collecting retired LEGO - expensive!

    Oh, and here's some trivia: it turns out that MOC is also an acronym on action figure collecting forums, but it doesn't mean the same as on here...

    indeed, the same hold true for Hot wheels collecting, sealed vintage MOC hot wheels, are expensive (relative to the $1.00 of a new in retail one)

    (for those that don't know MOC is Mint On Card in this context)

    @GallardoLU - I sold the Surf Crate STH... £22.

    Mustang Mach 1 went for £18.

    My Micro Machines collection is up too and, found an old , beaten up Corgi Hillman Hunter Rally Car for 25p which returned £5.

    I seem to have moved from die-cast collector to dealer.

    @bookmum Um no pocket knives and some smaller sheath knives, but don't worry I'm really careful and I never bring them anywhere in public. (although legally I could where I live.) I also have three Batarang shaped throwing knives.

    That reminds me that I still have my collection of original 2000AD comics up in the loft.  I even have the cursed earth ones with Ronald McDonald and Jolly Green Giant etc.  Forgotten all about these and probably have some of the sci fi specials and maybe some graphic novels too.  Will have to have a good root around when I get back home.

    This is a bit of a collectors question - you know the books that were part of a series in the 80s/90s and came out with a couple of titles a month - Goosebumps, Sweet Valley, Babysitters Club etc - well is there a specific term to describe them? Collectable Series 's? What is the actual plural of 'series '? Thanks!!

    Series.

    Best sold in a lot.
    Because of age, the glue may be brittle and the pages may tear from the binding.
    Hopefully they're white (not yellowed from sun exposure) and crisp with no writing!

    Nice!  Now we can vote for Yak Face or another Jabba thug!  And nice score on the Boba Fett.  You might want to go and get the VTAC IG-88 and the TVC Dengar, 4-LOM and Zuckuss.

    Series is already a plural, technically speaking. It's one of those funny words that could mean one thing 'World Series' or many things 'A Series of Books/Movies/Games/Toys' that sort of thing.

    @solid_strider Don't tempt me to start bounty hunter collecting on vintage cards! Truth be told, I'm not that much of a fan of the others. Bossk and Fett rock though :)

    You mentioning VTAC IG-88 made me realise you're on Rebelscum too - I only recently joined but I thought I recognised your username from the LEGO forum.

    I wonder how many other Brickset members are active on other collecting forums?

    I think that unless we have virtual reality/3D tactile sensors, we will keep collecting LEGO until the end of time (Minecraft is likely to get there first, but not yet)...which is why most media/tangible items are being replaced by online service.

    For example, for as much as I love DVDs and blu-rays, there will be a day (soon) where the quality of streaming a movie will be as good as the disc stream, and where I get to enjoy all the special features offered in disc/physical media...same with music albums...don't get me wrong, I love the tangibility of an item, but when there is no more quality benefit of having a CD or DVD (don't get me started on vinyl), then the need for them becomes null.

    In the meantime, to add to my list, I also try to collect silver coins, especially Mexican silver (which I didn't know, was very sought after by collectors), the new Star Wars books, blu-rays from specific movies, and photographs I take (that is still collecting, right?).

    Quite active on starwarsforum.co.uk. Up to a few years ago my big grail collections was to get a full set of 96 vintage Star Wars figures from 1977-1984 all carded, something I completed about three years ago. For a long time I bought modern 1994+ Hasbro figures and by 2011 I had one of every figure and vehicle released. The collection was so big I couldn't display a thing, it was all boxed and floor to ceiling in one of the rooms in the house.

    it was a tough hobby to keep up with since Hasbro released so many exclusives for each convention or through various US retail stores every year it cost 1000's just to keep up with and a lot of enjoyment eventually went. By the end of 2011 I'd had enough so I sold all but a few of the modern lines. I kept the full set of comic two-packs (63 I think). SOTE POTF2 figures and vehicles and the POTF2 EU figures. The full set of 21 VOTC figures including the mail away Lucus trooper, and my favourite, the Disney Parady line, which were crazy hard to complete, including all the very limited exclusives and box sets.

    if I can dig out some old images of that stuff I will post them up (they are all boxed up again). I also have an almost complete carded and boxed set of M.A.S.K serise 1 and 2 figures and vehicles and a smattering of Takara Reissue Transformers, although thinking of selling those (which would be the second time I have bought and sold them...)

    Yeah, loved M.A.S.K growing up. It will be interesting to see what IDW do with it over the next year or so with the relaunch following on from the Revolution crossover, sat on the shelf unread right now but next to read after the new Thrawn novel. If it does well I can see a new wave of toys and maybe a big screen outing down the road and Hasbro look to build their own cinematic universe off the back of transformers and the slightly duff GI Joe films.

    i have a boxed Switchblade and a few other vehicles somewhere as well, Manta, Vampire I think.

    M.A.S.K & V.E.N.O.M... That brings back memories, the first series of vehicles flew off the shelves so fast here that I didn't get any, but the second series, I had several of them especially the vehicles that split into two vehicles & were manned by a 'hologram' of the driver. My favourite of them was Detonator, the Volkswagen Bug that turned into a hovercraft/attack bike, driven Jacques LaFleur.

    I started off collecting Transformers (beast wars on), but have since branched out to Lego, superheroes, and general late 80's/early 90's items that his my nostalgia buttons.  At the moment, my main focuses are:

    Masterpiece Beast Wars Transformers
    Masterpiece G1 season 1/2
    Lego (modulars and a smattering of city, superheroes, speed champions, architecture, seasonal, ideas, CMF, and creator)
    superheroes (various DCUC/ML/Mafex/SHF/ONE:12/Figma/HotToys)

    So now I seem to be collecting 6" as well as 3 3/4" Star Wars figures. Worse still, I appear to be making sure I have both the LEGO and Hasbro versions...



    And yes, the black pauldron on the LEGO Sandtrooper does niggle a bit, but that figure is much nicer than the older variant with the orange pauldron (Hasbro did actually make a variant with the black pauldron, but to me an iconic Sandtrooper has an orange pauldron).

    Now that would be going too far ;)

    Actually, for me the minifigure is iconic, but I prefer larger figures to look realistic.

    I haven't actually started collecting anything else, but I've got my eye on a line of 6 inch Jaeger action figures from Pacific Rim 2.

    Ah, Transformers and Pacific Rim - I've looked at both. And while it was fairly easy to get hold of the Transformers I wanted (the new ones, not vintage ones, being easily available on Amazon) I was a bit late to the party for PR, so I've only got Striker Eureka. Might get hold of Gypsy Revenger from the second film if I like the look of it in action.

    Also got into a little bit of the die-cast Star Wars HW models. But I've managed to get all the ones of those I want. Also bought the little Thunderbirds vehicles and the 3 slightly bigger ones because they were so cheap. Would love Lego versions of those, but not sure the Ideas project is going anywhere...

    Then there's Metal Earth, which I'm happy to leave in the package rather than get infuriated at how awkward they are and when I inevitably break one of the pieces.

    Can't post photos of anything as they're in storage at the minute awaiting the time when my office is less full of rubbish. They'll be waiting a while, I think.

    I just collect the usually goodies from my childhood.  Transformers and Legos.  Unfortunately most of it is in bins and nothing is really on display.

    I need to find a good site for locating transformer parts ... or just replacement parts in general for robot toys.  My Voltron needs a little TLC to get back into display shape.

    I got into boardgames a year after I got into Lego, and have been slowly amassing my collection. Sadly I only have a certain amount of disposable income, so the more boardgames I buy, the fewer Lego sets I can afford. It's a very strong dilemma.

    I have lots of toys but nowadays I focus mostly on LEGO. And some Gundam. I'm surprised I saw so little mention of them here. I feel like LEGO led me to Gundam when, at some point, I wanted a more involved building experience.

    I collect Gundam as well, both the toys and models kits.
