    Ridiculous.
Found two of these recently at Target for $12.48. Now to decide who gets a new home :)

I also just spent a bunch of $ at Barnes & Noble at their 25% off sale (+10% member discount) and picked up:
    #75155 U-wing
    #76054 Harvest of Fear
    #21306 Yellow Sub
    #21307 Caterham Seven
    #21030 US capitol
    #21029 Buckingham Palace
    #21020 Trevi Fountain
    #21034 London

this was a 25th anniversary discount of a german electronics shop. you had to use a special payment system and you had to try to get as close to 100EUR as possible because it was 25% discount for an order of 100 EUR and 25 EUR discount on all over 100 EUR

So Amazon finally won. They lowered the price of #70605 to $46 again. I passed the first time, but I couldn't do it a second.

ordering just enough to reach a threshhold is a common practice. like a promo for [email protected] orders of at least $75, $150 does not get you 2. Target recently had a $10 off $50 of TLBM stuff deal, same idea

Nice, I got a couple for $59 at WalMart last year. Ninjago seems to have a lot of cool parts and figures.

    -

10 #10603 (DUPLO schoolbus) at Marshalls for $6, they finally lowered them from $8. Mom noticed when nshe was last in the store. One more was still marked $8, not the first time that store has had that nonsense going on.

A few recent hauls to tide me over until Double VIP in March...

#70912 LBM Arkham Asylum - $60 on Amazon...
Where/when did you find Arkham Asylum for $60 on Amazon? It is a TRU exclusive with an MSRP of $149.
Yep that's my typo - I meant the Batcave...

Now a question for the group: with Double VIP here, I'm pulling the trigger on Assembly Square, and I'm debating using my ~$100 in available VIP rewards on either the LBM Arkham Asylum or either the Detective Office or Brick Bank.  The latter two never go on sale - what are my chances of getting a sale price on Arkham Asylum at TRU in the future?
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^ Slim. For instance, they did a TLBM sale a few weeks ago and the Asylum was excluded. It's not entirely out of the question that it would go on sale, but the probability isn't high.

Yea but in the context of the LBM, its PERFECT!

I'm in the process of acquiring some vehicles to fill out my city.  I'm actually leaning toward fewer of the "city scale" vehicles since they've always bugged me as a bit undersized.

Scored 70819 Bad Cop Car Chase at 70808 Super Cycle Pursuit from TLM to start building my Gotham City PD to get along with the LBM sets. Just need the Dropship from 70815 for a Batman Animated Series-type airship...

I was not expecting it to be City-scale, but after building it I noticed that a minifigure (actually two) will fit nicely, and having recently built the hot rod it struck me of how big the difference in size is.

If anything, it illustrate how the awkwardly proportionate the minifigures are overall ;-)

Now to my buying status for today: Double VIP points!

Stopped by my local LEGO store after work looking for #10255 Assembly Square... out of stock :-(

So, not feeling like walking out empty-handed, picked up #10252 Volkswagen Beetle; it's "California-themed" after all ;-)

This is my first Creator Expert vehicle... now to place an order for #10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van (no Mini Cooper or Ferrari for me, thank you).

After splurging on sets in January, I had a fairly tame (in comparison, at least) February, and I was expecting that March would be the same. Unfortunately for my wallet, I went on Ebay and, in the last few days, picked up two UCS sets that were on my list and stayed within my range of what I was willing to pay for them. They have now become my most expensive ( #10212 ) and third most expensive ( #10175 ) sets ever (with #10188 coming in second place). The current 10% Ebay Bucks promotion helped, however, as I will be getting $35 back in April thanks to the Imperial Shuttle purchase.

Oh all right. I need the third set. Although I'm not bothered about Ayesha and that spaceship looks a little odd (although it looks like they'll be going back to Knowhere based on the decals). @SumoLego - have you built it? If so, what do you think of it? And yes, you need Mantis - look at those antennae!

Let's get one thing straight, if you answer with a yes to the question, are you a fan of said superhero/superhero team (even if it's just the cinematic version), then yes, hell yes, you need all the sets involving them.

I have an assembled Milano that was acquired via trade.  So I possess a built one, but haven't assembled one myself.

I know about the typos.  Some weird combination of strange auto-correct and fat fingers on a small Note 5 screen.

Been a BL shopping spree for me today. First I finished my HP minifigure collection* that started 7 years ago (Death Eater, Ron/Crabbe, Harry/Goyle, Marauder Map Statue, Wormtail, and the Troll - the original BigFig?).

Then I picked up the TLBM minifigures from sets I've decided I won't buy (Aaron Cash, Kite Man, Magpie, Tarantula, Zebra-Man, Calendar Man, Kabuki Twin x2) along with Katana and Killer Moth.

*By my own collection criteria, which is every character rather than every minifigure - thankfully for my wallet I'm not interested in chasing down variants.

Since I had some gift cards for various holidays and events, I paid about $40 out of pocket and will get over 400 VIP points.

As Vorpalryu says - Wizards are easy (just don't look behind the curtain) ;-) .  It seems these days, with the prevelance of Facebook buying groups, the fact that every second person either works at a major retailer (or has a friend or family member that does) and the misheld belief that hoarding ANY near EOL LEGO set will lead to massive returns, anything over 25% discount is close to a miracle!  Strangely enough - Fifteen years ago was an ENTIRELY different story - you could by stuff at 50-60% discount, bang it up on eBay and  (taking shipping and fees into account) STILL double or triple your money selling internationally.  Probably one of the reasons why those of us over here that have been in the game this long find US fans bitching about how expensive LEGO is over there so ridiculous and amusing!

Managed to buy a ~$400 gift card from a local on craigslist at a 10% discount, so #10255 was ordered last week on Double VIP.  Now that the points have credited, I'm using the rest of the GC and my VIP points on either #10251 or #10246 after work today!  Whichever I don't get from the LEGO Store, I'll be ordering with Amazon rewards in the coming days...

If I can just find a decent price on #10211 or #10185, I'll have every modular I care to own...

Aren't there also far more people buying sets for their own use than there were 15 years ago? After all, back then LEGO was seriously struggling as a business. Part of why LEGO's financials in 2003 suffered so badly was that holiday sales for 2002 were weak and retailers were "choking on a backlog of unsold LEGO sets" (Brick by Brick, p63). In that kind of climate it doesn't surprise me one bit that retailers were heavily discounting whatever sets they had — people just weren't buying them at full price.

Today LEGO seems to be much, much better at maintaining demand (sometimes even more than they can adequately fulfill!), so I wouldn't be too quick to chalk today's more modest discounts up to resellers specifically.

See, this is why I am such a failure at building a good LEGO relationship. My response would have been to turn around and say:

    "Nude?"

...and THEN click the buy button.

Which is why I build all my stuff by myself. :(
