[US] Anybody noticed the HUGE glut of Brickmaster sets on Ebay?

Clearly these are whole cases of product.

Did some checking and there are alot of larger bulk lots of brickmaster sets, not just there. Did I miss something? Did Lego dump a bunch of these on the market somehow in clearing out stock? Just wondering.

    I bought some of these and asked the seller where he got them from. He stated they were in a truck trailer auction that was filled with toys. He had 30+ cases. They are the leftover sets from the Brickmaster Magazine from subscriptions that weren't filled.

    Good time to pickup bulk lots to store for a year and sell later...

    I looked them up, the asking prices are a bit high for current resale, but they won't be here in a year, that is probably the time to sell them.

    The nice thing is they are small and easy to store, just toss them on the top shelf of the upstairs closet and forget about them for awhile...

    I must say, the "semi trailer auction" story sounds extremely fishy to me. Lego would retain possession of these sets if they remained undistributed. It makes no sense why they would auction them off secretly and not use them as some sort of a promotion either at TLG B&M stores or some other way. These sets were in demand and could have been fantastic promotional items to TLG to use. TLG never misses an opportunity to cash in on a prime marketing opportunity, especially one that allows them to reintroduce sets to the marketplace that were so in demand.. This scenario really makes no sense to me.

    ^ - That is very true, they may have "fallen off the back of the truck", which happens all too often in freight shipping...

    yes... i bought a bunch from a lady in Mississippi and I asked her where did she get so many and she said she won them at an auction. Lego must have gotten rid of their overstock of Brickmaster sets! It makes sense because I believe Lego has warehouse or distribution center in MS?

    ^ I would be very disappointed in TLG if indeed they did choose to get rid of excess BM polys in this way. Why not sell the excess on S&H or use them in promotions allowing others to get hold of them at reasonable prices?

    Maybe they were worried about upsetting BM subscribers who thought they were getting exclusives but they have sold a couple of BM polys online before.

    ...and yes, I do have sour grapes over BM, man was I pleased when it was canned ;-)

    ^ What was wrong with BM? It seemed like a good idea to me. I missed out on it, coming to the party too late, but getting a new set in the mail every other month seems pretty cool to me...

    ^ It was US only, so @atkinsar was reduced to paying a premium for each set so he could complete his polybag collection :o)

    Guess it's time to sell the ones I have before the market is flooded with them. Someone on Bricklink just sold 50 of the 20016 for $11.99 each. Average had been around $20 before that.

    20021

    coming... Working on the others... Total of about 400 units so far split between them...

    Bought and traded a few from @fatmatt. I must say that If this auction scenario is in fact true, it kinda throws a curve into the speculation market. Introduction of these cases has depressed the market for thos sets immediately. once those cases are broken up and sold, it remains to be seen if the prices will rebound. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing for those who want to buy. , I just hope that TLG doesn't make a habit of it. A destabilized market is no fun. I dealt with that in te trading card industry 15 years ago.

    ^ That is why sometimes companies will destroy product, rather than liquidate it. Once sold at auction, they lose all control over it, so it may be worth destroying it rather than getting whatever money they can from it.

    TLG it seams is not one such company. :) Or perhaps this is an exception?

    It will be a week or so before I'm ready to sell any of it...

    Keep in mind the current prices of these items may well change by then, after all, the market is about to be flooded with this stuff. :)

    That is why I have a space in the closet picked out for them, give everyone else a chance to "give away" their copies... :)

    Since several people have asked... I'm curious as to the opinions of everyone here, what do you think are fair prices for these sets?

    ^^I've sold plenty off 20009 in UK , lowest £10, highest £15. Bought a case off [email protected] a while back, think they were £3 each
