Got my grubby hands on the Dutch NK S03 vids... Youtube and the official Lego site and so nothing special or illegal, vids are region restricted though. Some NK summer 2017 vehicles get quite a lot of screen time.

Is it ok to post screenshots to discuss them in this thread?

Amazon's pushing it with their level of packing. It's basically just a sleeve. Yeesh.

On another note - I guess the shield packs vary by batch; I thought it was limited to the one pack I picked up where the blue shield included was a duplicate of what I already had and the rest were different. Bought a couple more packs and this time I got three duplicates and two new ones. I got them from the Lego store and two different targets. I check the shields, but I guess you gotta check all of them if you're a completist.

We finally finished nk season 1 now that they are all on TLG's YouTube channel.  The kids enjoyed it for what it is.  So many play structure possibilities!!  And most are hardly realized.  MOC TIME!!

Great! I only watched up to Episode 5 before; now I can figure out how the many NK sets I have bought so far play out in the story ;-)

I'm a little bit late to this Theme, but with TRU Canada offering Clearance prices on most first year winter wave sets and the Buy one get one half off deal for Clearance sets I started picking up the ones I've wanted. Have high hopes to get Jestro's Evil-Mobile by the end of the month, but not making any commitments.

I have to admit the Theme certainly has it's charm, the colours alone are quite impressive and the Fantasy meets Science Fiction combination is really a 'can't go wrong' kind of combination. I've found myself impressed with these sets more than Ninjago honestly, perhaps because the Designers have learned from those early years of Ninjago to better incorporate parts and elements into the vehicle designs. I'm a huge fan of the new book element as well and wish they'd bring back Harry Potter if just to get more magic tomes to populate my LEGO universe.

I'll probably get around to posting my reviews on the sets I've gotten some time this year, however I will say this much with Nexo Knights, LEGO as always never fails to impress, and unlike certain Star Wars sets the play features are consistently more entertaining here.

As far as the blind packed powers are concerned, I hate OCD compulsions for blind bagged products, because I just know I'm going to wind up with loads of duplicates before all is said and done.

Also I really wish LEGO would bring back Ice Planet 2002, the oranges and blues together are just hitting me with all the nostalgic feels right now.

Picked up another NEXO Powers pack the other day, so far I've got ten unique shields, no duplicates.

Agreed, I think they do a horrible job. I believe they have an internal philosophy of playing odds. Spend less on shipping costs and bank on the odds that most people just don't care and won't return. Guarantee that somewhere there are analytics on it.

@Odeinoichus I'm new to the theme as well, and you articulated my thoughts on it very well. I'm all in now...with the exception of the blind packed stuff. I just don't feel like I need it. Not sure why, but it doesn't hold interest to me because I am not into learning any system associated with it...does that make sense? I'm too busy trying to learn the LEGO inventory! :)

I'm kinda glad the blind bags are shields, because I'm not crazy of how the prints look, I think classic shields have better prints. if they contained books, I could be tempted, the new books are very nice.

Yeah, I'm a little disappointed we haven't seen more books this year. I was hoping to see them expand to more themes this year, but instead we've only gotten one in an Elves set and none in Nexo Knights sets.

Mind you, for Nexo Knights specifically, I do think the Forbidden Powers "fit in" a little better than the books did, both conceptually and as a gameplay element. But for LEGO in general I'm kind of sad that the decrease in books in these themes hasn't been balanced out with an increase in books in other themes.

there is one in the silent mary too. have to check if you really mean a new one for elves or the dragon book which I have (twice I think)

It's a new one for Elves, but the cover and inside page are both stickered rather than printed. It's in #41184, which I just built yesterday. The cover is Reddish Brown and decorated with the elvish wind symbol, and the page inside has schematics for the airship.

Hadn't noticed the one for the Silent Mary! Good eye!

There is a new "Armor Pod" polybag on the front page. #5004914 is the item number. I'm thinking the rumors of Nexo Knight's death have been greatly exaggerated (at least I hope)

Yeah, Mark Stafford and Samuel Johnson confirmed in the comments of that "Nexo Knights ending?" article that the rumors were a bunch of hooey,

Nice to hear that - I missed those comments.

Has that article been removed? I'm unable to locate it now. Not that those very constructive comments will be missed. As somebody summarized it elsewhere on the forum: "If only TLG would dedicate 100% of their releases to sets *I* like, they'd make billions!". Well, they already do, but thanks, I guess?

I'm actually kinda miffed the article got removed, if only because I ended up creating this meme image describing the comments section and I'm sad I won't be able to use it within the correct context:

Well, I'm glad to have it clarified that it's not going yet - there's still a good few sets I want, before we even get to the summer ones that were at the toy fair! And I'm curious about what a third year may bring, if it continues into 2018.

@just2good uploaded a youtube video with the first wave of 2018 sets (he credits Sir von Lego on Eurobricks as the source). Sounds like a new type of bad guy, fingers crossed for a forest theme but I'll take anything new. I'm hoping this theme keeps going until we get all of the monsters out of the Book of Monsters.

I'm a bit surprised to see another full wave (possibly two) for 2018, especially considering the pure hate in some of the YT comments.

Neither the black/trans green colour scheme mentioned in the vid nor the names of the set indicate anything resembling the forest/marsh villains from the book of monsters though. Sea monsters are also out of the picture as these would be too similar to those in the Ninjago Movie.

Still exited though, I really like the theme.
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,662
well, at least black and trans green is a better color scheme than about anything we've had this year. well, as long as they don't mix them with 12 other different bright colors.
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,076
Kids my son's age (7) love it though, well at least the ones I know. I think the storyline on ninjago was more fun but the actual book of book of monsters is great plus the collecting element of the shields in the game adds something extra to it.

I want the forest monsters too. Like this guy...

Original trans-green?!? Could this mean the possibility of trans-green Bar 4Ls, aka lightsaber blades? PLEASE TLG, MAKE IT SO!!! If you could perhaps even throw in a few copper lightsaber hilts for good measure, pretty please!

Some images of the nexo wave have surfaced and the poster mentioned they could be EU exclusive? Seems weird for Lego to do that, but who knows.
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,827
^Not the first time LEGO has done that. If I remember correctly the last wave of Agents was like that, and then they were cancelled.

The issue is that March launch products don't typically end up in the US retailer catalogs, despite the fact that they go from January to June.

The last wave of Ultra Agents actually did get released in the U.S., but as a Toys R Us exclusive line (likewise with the last wave of Bionicle last year). I'm hoping the same might apply to the seemingly absent Nexo Knights and Elves sets, though no telling with Toys R Us's recent bankruptcy filing...

Huh, is that so? If there's precedent for that in previous years, that leaves me with less reason to worry...

I say weird cause all Chima sets were released everywhere if I remember correctly, and it seems NK seems just as popular, if not more. I can't remember how well the agents line did.

What we need is confirmation that the US version of the LEGO Life Magazine has that tease that's been going around. It was never sepcified which region it came from.

Been looking through the character encyclopedia and they have some cool concept art. Also confirmation about the tech infection theme for 2018. That Fortrex though - crazy cool.

I love looking at concept art, the problem I find however is I always find myself thinking "No THAT is cool, why didn't they do that??" (obviously price and practicality can be a concept killer).

Yes, a drop of alcohol or acetone on a cloth works, same as for other parts. I tend to use isopropyl alcohol (which is in a lot of camera lens cleansers).

Nail polish remover works too. But just be careful because anything that can remove the printing could weaken the plastic too.

Thanks for sharing the concept art - it looks great!  Maybe I need to give Nexo Knights another look... the builds I've done have impressed me, perhaps the sets in 2018 will blow us away?! :)

One can hope they realize some of those designs in the future. The ones with the electricity/golden wings makes me think of Babylonian myth, which would be a cool theme to explore, even if it wasn't nexo related. Those alternate helmet designs for the knights are also nice. One of them looks sentai-inspired, and the other one is clearly a Gundam lol. Also, that jestro with two faces is creepy as heck.

Ok so the 271602-1 Jet Horse: Is this the same as the hover-horses in the various sets? (Well, barring color differences.)
