They do but they don't work on Lego.
    There's a HUGE exclusion list.

Went to the store nearest to me and saw a #75146 Star Wars Advent Calendar with the red sticker; when I got to the cashier it rang up at regular price, but she then changed it to 50% off.

Not sure about coupons. I just grabbed sets with the 30% off stickers on them.

Went to my local B&N today to check if they had any discounts on the stationery sets before I go back to college at the end of the week. They didn't, but they did have pretty much all the LEGO Ninjago graphic novels from Papercutz on the clearance tables with red stickers, if any Bricksetters or their kids might be interested in those. They're not considered "canon" to the Ninjago TV series, but the stories in them are alright and the illustrations are often quite nice. I already have all of them, but thought I'd spread the word.

@Aanchir Were there particular stationery items you wanted? One of mine had some on sale but I didn't really look as 55% off still seems expensive.

They clearanced out some Lego Notebooks with a baseplate at the end of summer. Did they have any other stationery items on clearance this time around?

My local B&N had several stationaries at 50% off: Gel packs (3 and 9), markers, and colored/graphite pencils (don't remember which, maybe both).

In December they also had the following: journals (various colors), organizer, and pencil case. I think the ruler was there also.

So far I have: ruler, pencil case, organizer, gel 9 set pack, and 2 journals.
Why? Who knows! I do most of my note-taking on the computer :-)

    ^ You got me ;-)

One of the journals is on my desk at work with a Banana Guy from CMF 16 standing on it. There's not a single letter written in the journal.

LOL! The big red sticker spoiled the Mint-In-Box condition of the set.

I have the eraser. I think it's cool. Once the eraser is all used up, you're left with a Lego piece.

Nice find!  If only they wouldn't taunt me with unavailable sets.  (Don't worry, I managed to find something.)

Just came back from my local B&N store; at least in that store, they were having issues as the discount was not automatically coming up. The had instructions for the cashier to manually enter the 25% off "coupon" for each item. So be aware in case the cashier is "uninformed about the matter".

Does it work in store? If so I might see if I can get them to take 25℅ off the already discounted Ultra stealth raider. Has anyone tried to take the discount off of one of the already discounted sets? There's no fine print for me to read to get the answer from.
  • thenosthenos Member Posts: 444
Anyone else try it in the store? Nothing seems to indicate that it is in-store available.
  • ecmo47ecmo47 Member Posts: 2,101
You should be able to add your normal 10% off discount if you are a B&N discount card holder.
  • JooTogJooTog Member Posts: 945
I mentioned above "Just came back from my local B&N store..." (emphasis added); so yes, it does work at the store.

I bought the #70908 The Scuttler and #76081 The Milano vs. The Female Sarlacc.

There was a sign as soon as I walked in the store and another one at the LEGO section. The Scuttler had a "25% off" sticker, no other set had the sticker though (but still applies).

Sweet - they have new sets.  Will have to run out tonight.

Nice. Guess I know where I'm heading tonight. Do you think it would add an extra discount to sets that are at a 30% "clearance" price. There are some Minecraft and Ninjago ones at my store that haven't sold and if the discount stacks I might bite. Otherwise I will get some newer stuff.
  • thenosthenos Member Posts: 444
Yes, I read that, just wanted other's input because some sales are flaky. Thanks. Actually was able to find a couple of stores with some retired stuff, and able to reserve with a confirmation of the 25%. So, thank you again.

It is in store. Finally grabbed the Dr. Who set after TRU cancelled my order in December.

Select sets are even 30% off, like Ninjago Lighthouse Seige.

Do they get discounted from the 30% price? They've been like that for a while. Is that considered their regular price or is that a sale price that won't get discounted? Does anyone know?
  • CaptainRogersCaptainRogers Member Posts: 869
You only get the extra member 10% off the discounted price. Lighthouse was $48.46 or something, and then only $43ish after discount.
  • BrickByBrickBrickByBrick Member Posts: 748
Alright. Thanks. Do you think they will hit 50% clearance? I remember #70738 did, that's how I got it last year.
  • CaptainRogersCaptainRogers Member Posts: 869
I dont know... I have no inside knowledge, but I would guess if they are still around when clearance time hits then probably so. B&N clearance seems to start right  at 50%, so most likely that's the first discount you'll dind other than occasional sales.
  • BrickByBrickBrickByBrick Member Posts: 748
Decided to bite at 30% off for #70594 and #70595.

Scuttler was scanned when I went and it wasn't registering a discount.
    Adventure Time, however, did.

Was able to get a #21304 for $40.46 before tax, couldn't believe it, thought they were gone.

@77ncaachamps I bought a scuttler yesterday. There were signs up in the LEGO section explaining the sale but the scuttler and the Creator townhouse rang up without the discount. I explained that the sale was on sets over $39.95 and that if there was fine print excluding those sets that's fine, I wouldn't get them that day. The cashier rang the manager and was told to manually do the discount.

If think it's just poorly implemented, why would they exclude a Creator set?

At one Barnes and Noble I picked up #76078 Hulk vs Red Hulk.  It didn't ring up as a discount but the cashier immediately applied the code to get the discount.  At the next store I went to I tried to get #76081 The Milano vs The Abilisk, and again did not ring up with the discount.  The cashier said they have a specific list of sets which qualify.  She had a sheet of paper with the list.  She asked the manager if she could override and the manager told her they had to stick to the list.  So, YMMV.

I tried to get the Scuttler but no luck. Got the Caterham and the Rebel troop transport. 25% off; 10% member discount and 5% CC cash back stacks nicely. Thanks @sidersdd

Snagged a #75155, #76054, and #21030 today at the 25% + 10% discount. Now that I have two U.S. Capitols, I can mod one by adding the side of it that Lego decided not to finish. I really don't know why they didn't just do that to start with.
  • 77ncaachamps77ncaachamps Member Posts: 2,442
I was thinking about the Capitol but it looked repetitive. Got the Architecture NY, Insread

I'm sure we've pretty much figured it out what I confirmed with an associate yesterday: the sale was to clear the old for the new. Hence, the new sets are not on sale (but YMMV).
Today's the last day so get what you can!

BTW, what did BN give away yesterday during their Batman promotional event?
Can someone please share a pic?
  • AstrobricksAstrobricks Member Posts: 5,564
Grabbed a Yellow Sub, Caterham Seven, Trevi, Buckingham, and London today. My CC is glad the sale ends today:)

Went in with it in mind that I was just getting the Capitol. Ended up with that, 2x Flatiron building, Buckingham Palace, and NY. And a Barnes and Noble membership, which paid for itself on this order.

Just a reminder to everyone that the Lego Batman Speedwagon build event is tomorrow (March 11th). The website says to call and make a reservation at your local store as spots are limited.

My son and I missed out on the last TRU Batman build, so we're excited for this one!

I hope the BN that I called is really hosting this event. It's not posted on their website, but I called and staff said there is an event but have no idea what the build is and if it's a make and take. :-(

Is there a separate thread for these Lego mini build events?
