BOGO 40% (Or as I like to call it, 20% off max, must buy two) email just came through on 'selected' TLBM and City sets. Looks like most of the sets are back down to RRP too.

(crossing fingers for the link to work)

Don't forget that TRU adds the $7.50 credit for the movie if you're going to be seeing that anyways.

was at the two of the stores on sat,  saw the $20 lego Batman movie sets,  one store mark it at $22.99 and the other mark at 25.99.  not sure if i price match and the buy one get one 40% off will be still good!
  • SprinkleOtterSprinkleOtter Member Posts: 2,779
Price match and a deal??? "No, sorry, that's impossible. But hey, you'd save more with the deal than price matching."

for the $20 set,  Walmart sell it for about 16.80

so for two sets,  it is about 33.6+ tax

fot the two Toys R us i went,  first one is 25.99+ 25.*06 = 41.58 + Reward R us point and not enough for Movie ticket coupon

for the 2nd one,  22.99+13.8= 36.78 + Reward R us and not enough for Movie ticket coupon

so no price match is not a good deal,  unless it is over 50 and get the movie coupon,  then it may match the walmart or Amazon

but the more expensive set mark up more

the first Toys R us mark up the Joker Low Rider $15 and 70906 Batmobile $20

ONLINE only. Good for today only as well.

Which sounds great but then you think of the discounts that could be had at Target (20%; 25% with RedCard) and Amazon (about 20% at times).

Though, it would be handy when buying TRU exclusives or using it with a TRU cc and/or rewards.

and for one REGULARLY priced item. No stacking it with the TLBM 40% BOGO. ;-(
  • Sethro3Sethro3 Member Posts: 981
These reasons are why I avoid this place. I know deals can be had here, but it seems too much hassle for me who can't make it to TRU on a regular basis.

Thanks to those who posted the instructions from this weekends building event. Little Switch had a bit of a rough morning and lost out on his building privilege. Which means I lost out of my building privilege...

Lesson learned, never make the punishment for your child something that also punishes you.

**Off to find some parts to build the "free" build

    ^ Amen.

Wife: That's it. We're not going to TRU today!
    Son: NOOOOO!!!
    Me: NOOOOO!!!
Wife: Seriously? You're gonna whine too?
Me: I just think we should be focusing on all the times he's a good boy. Not this one little incident that was honestly nothing to even be mad about.
Wife: He tried to sell his little brother on eBay.
Me: He's a budding entrepreneur. We should be celebrating that.
    Wife: You're an idiot.
Me: Yes I am. Now can we go to TRU?
    HAHAhAHAHAH!
Did he make it as far as making a listing?

Batman doesn't fit properly in the TRU build due to his cowl being too tall with the roof on so "flight mode" looks something like this

To buy or not to buy? I want at least 4 of the new sets, but I don't need them just yet. Patience isn't one of my strengths when it comes to Lego Star Wars.

^ 20% is usually my trigger. If I want the set and it's at 20% off, that's good enough for me. If I'm on the fence, then I'll wait and see if I can do any better. But 20% is worth it for me to go ahead and check them off of my list.

This was enough to push me over the edge. Thanks! I actually ordered from Target.com (Y-wing, Scarif, Phantom) and price-matched afterwards. Saved me about $7 with the Target card.

I am going to check my local stores. If they don't even have it in stock, no salt here buddy!

EDIT: Well, damn. There is ONE store that has it for pick up. And it won't use $12 of gas. :/
    Oh well.

Flash coupon - 10 off 50 coupon on eBay right now.  So for example, #75096 Sith Infiltrator would be 49.98 at eBay's TRU store.  Coupon ends at 6pm PT today.

^- That is almost worth paying 10-20% over RRP. Almost, but not quite.
Hate to be jaded but really TRU LOWER YOUR RRP to where it is SUPPOSED to be!!!
  • JooTogJooTog Member Posts: 945
^ Or just pay $6.99 for the item and forgo buying any sets to meet the $40 minimum purchase :-)

At least that usually works on my local TRU store.

I got the Nexo Knights promo today. For those curious about what it looks like, here are a few pictures.

It comes with a tri-force shield, 1 shield, and a few other pieces to attach it to the front: (I apologize for the glare)

Here is the sleeve (right) and the assembled case (right):

The inside of the case with a few of my spare shields already in place.

Note: The case's tip that hold the plate in place prevent shields to be positioned there. I was thinking about getting a couple more, but this annoys me.

Thinking about picking up two of those so I can have a library of Nexo Powers for both waves of Combo Powers. Of course then there's the other part of me thinks I should pick up another pair in the event another year's worth of the Combo Nexo Power sets are on the way.

IMO the only sets worth buying from a TRU at a BOGO40 would be any exclusive to TRU. Typically most if not all of these sets will be found at 25-30% off at some point at other retailers. If you must have one now because of a present or something it may be ok, but seeing as TRU typically has their prices 10-20% over RRP then it is either a 'wash' (no discount), or a savings of less than 20%.

I would say polybags or CMF are also worth it since those are harder to find on sale.  The Krypto Saves the Day polybag is eligible for the current promo.

I think these sorts of markups depend on where you are? Stores near major population centers seem to have sets priced higher than more typical locations. On the Toys 'R' Us website, at least, the vast majority of the 93 sets eligible for this offer are priced at RRP, including all the eligible sets released this year. Of the remainder, only 14 are priced above RRP, usually by no more than 5%–10%, compared to 21 sets that are actually priced below RRP.

From my experience, Toys 'R' Us markups are a lot less common than they used to be. But you are correct that there may be better deals on a lot of these sets if you're willing to wait.

Here is the link for all 30% off sets.  Looks like mostly Jurassic World, Bionicle, and Mixels mostly.  Some City sets in there too but looks like they inflated the price on many to offset much of the discount:

I think Arkham is not horrible for its price, but the issue I have is that it is pretty specific and does not have the characters in their normal 'garb'

It's marked up $10. Still not a bad price if you have discounted gift cards.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@pharmjod Sorry! I guess I'm getting used to TRU prices, I thought that was odd. I'm less happy about buying it but 14% off a month before my daughter's birthday is still probably my best bet on a store exclusive. Thanks for pointing that out.
