In the past three years or so that I've gotten back into LEGO, I've noticed that most sets $150 and under have a 20% markup and I can expect "sales" within 1-3 months that meet or exceed that.  Any sets I'm very interested in are entered into 3xcamel.com at the 20-25% cut off.  Anything else I wait for the oddball daily deals or clearance sales that knock them to 35-50% off and then look deep into my soul and ask myself, "Do I really need that?"

Price per piece is relatively meaningless when there are a ton of tiny greeble pieces in a set. As I think @LegoFanTexas mentioned eons ago, price per weight is probably a better metric at this point in the evolution of things.

Sorry...was excited as it was, I believe, an "all time low" for the set.  Given I reside in The Batcave, I may have had a slight bias when posting that.  Was just trying to give back to the community...

Don't apologize. As stated by others, everyone has different deal threshholds. You were being hrlpful.

I wasn't trying to be dickish (man, that never gets old) It was a question I've been meaning to ask and it came on the heels of the last post. My bad :(

I look for different price points at different points in a set's lifespan too. If I had to buy a present for a TLBM fan this week I'd be glad to know about the Clayface set @jmeninno

I tested all of the TLBM sets. All except #70904, #70908, #70910, #70911, #70912 worked.

Makes sense. The first two are excluded at TRU - probably because they are going on discount for President's Day weekend - and the last three aren't sold by Amazon they are retailer exclusives.

What combinations have some of you purchased? I loved the movie but I'm not too thriller about all the sets.

EDIT: Some CITY sets also qualify, like mentioned before.

BOGO 40 is not enough to make me bite just yet. After the movie hype dies down, we should be seeing some better sales (>30% off) on this line.

I didn't get any TLBM sets (the only one I want is the Balloon Escape, since I already have the Joker's Lowrider), but I got:
For a total of $34.21 with Texas taxes. Not bad IMO.

You ordered exactly what I did. Not a great discount, but that on top the 5% discount using amazon card, makes it worthwhile!

^Yes! It's always great to see the discount in your statement...I also ordered:
    • #60129 Police Patrol Boat
    • #60134 Fun in the Park (a second one)

Hoping that Amazon matches B&N's 25% off sale on the #70907. That would bring that set down to $43.73 with the code.

The Lego Batman Movie Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Pack (ASIN: B06W53FHJJ / UPC: 883929555338) has dropped to $24.99 (matching Target's online pre-order price).

I was able to pre-order that, along with a #70904 Clayface Splat Attack in the same order, with the BIGTHANKS discount.

Here's the fine print for the "BIGTHANKS" promo:

    Terms & Conditions:

Today only, get $8.62 off your purchase of $50 or more when you apply promo code BIGTHANKS at checkout. (Actually, we’ll round up from 8.627, so your discount will be $8.63.)

Hmm...I wasn't sure where to put this and figured this website didn't need its own separate post, but since I logged in with Amazon, I decided to put it here:

Diapers.com is currently having a sale for 20% off most of their LEGO with the code MORELEGO. Since many sets are already discounted, this stacks nicely. For example, #75155 U-Wing comes out to $56 before tax, and #75102 Poe's X-Wing is $52. Some of the new Creator sets (like the #31065 Park Street Townhouse) and Batman sets are also included. You don't have to guess which sets will work because it says it the main listing; you just have to buy at least 3 qualifying sets. Free shipping over $49, and the code allows you a total savings of $50.

^-- Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, Diapers.com is part of yoyo.com, which is part of Amazon.com.
20% off 3 or more LEGO sets, yoyo.com is part of diapers/amazon.com and have the same sale, be careful though as they have been known to bump up retail prices on their site, so the sale prices are not as great as they seem sometimes.
But there are deals to be had as you mention, new Creator Lighthouse is already discounted to 44 and change, before the discount
Fun in the Park set is 31 before the discount

Also, when you see a good price, LOCK IT IN AND BUY IT.

These associated websites of Amazon have dynamic pricing (prices change depending on sales/stock), much like their mother website.
