Local Target has new TLBM sets out. I must say, except for the smaller sets, all of the vehicles look like must buys/builds for me. That Penguin roller looks great.

A few sets are on clearance, most were 30% off:
    #76034
    #70604

One out of 5 stores in my region have all the 2017 stuff out. I think its more of how much staff they have on hand as well as resetting other departments before toys. They have bathing suits out already some places!

That is priority for Target for two reasons. 1) They want shoppers to see the cute suits they want to wear when summer comes and to return to buy them later. That is why they are often at the front of the store. Advertising basically. 2) Right now they are trying to sell fitness and weight loss related stuff to cash in on New Year resolutions. Reminding you subconsciously of the bikini body you want to have for summer drives sales in these other areas. Toys are not an area of focus in January as most consumers are toyed out from Christmas.

A great example of this in my local target.

Edit: They may have put out the bathing suits but they haven't restocked their Lego shelves yet. Not a batman polybag or CMF to be found.

Hey.... they rush all of the seasons and holidays.  Why should summer be any different?  We see Christmas stuff before Halloween and I bet some stores already have Valentines stuff on their shelves.  They are always thinking 3 months into the future.  Why not live in the moment?  Enjoy today, this week, this season.  It's going to be here sooner than we think.  Why rush?

Markdown day at my local Target. Almost nothing left to be marked down to 50% this year. Saw two each of King Pig's Castle and Tiger Widow Island at half price. Meh.

Yarp, same here, nothing except a handful of 30% off NK ultimates
  • Switchfoot55Switchfoot55 Member Posts: 3,476
My Target seems to be stocked back up fairly well. The only bare shelves were Star Wars stuff. The 50% off aisle only had one Nexo set that I passed on.

There are two full boxes of the Batman Phantom Zone polys.

I also just happened to glance down at the polys in the checkout aisles and found two #30474 bags. They must have been returns as I checked regularly during the holiday season and they never got them in. They didn't ring up, so they gave them to me for $1.50 each! ...I ran back and searched every aisle I could for 6 more...no luck.

Most of the Targets in Central VA have dried up for clearance, but I found yesterday 1x #70605 Misfortune's Keep for 50% off and 3x #41068 Arendelle Castle Celebration for 70% off.

  • RakulRakul Member Posts: 183
^ Nice the Virginia Center target hardly had anything.  Holding out hope they will stock the Krypto polybag for my daughter before too long.
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
Similar situation here...very few items on clearance (mainly Nexo and Princesses), but now the LEGO aisle has been fully restocked and everything is at retail price haha.
  • sonsofscevasonsofsceva Member Posts: 542
I got one Angry Bird Pig Castle for 50%. That's all that made it that far.
And an earlier poster asked what happened to Fyndly's Target program? Did they get a cease and desist for over-querying Target's database?

I think that's the Target on the "Lost" island. They stock Dharma goods as well.

Dharma Legos would be better than the hard to find ones here.

These have now been cleared out with a little investigative research by the folks over at brickpicker. It was in Southern Florida. They said the back story was some guy ordered 150 for store pickup with the intent to ship them overseas. Apparently that fell through so he left them at the store. Manager finally just marked 50% off to try to move them out. Some people.

Yeah the dude that bought them did everyone a favor. Target got rid of stock and he's passing a ton of them along at a still substantial dis count to others on the brickpicker forum. Good on him.

I picked up a #70751 Ninjago Temple of Arjitzu today at Target for $129.99.  Seals look intact.  I figured I could take it home and weigh it comparable to my other one I purchased from S@H.  The S@H says 6lb 8oz and the one from Target says 6lb 3 oz.  How much of a difference is there from box to box?  I know not every one is the same but is 5oz too much?
  • 77ncaachamps77ncaachamps Member Posts: 2,442
Did you do multiple weighs to see if the tare button wasn't working?
Seals can look intact but does the seam look like it was torn open and then glued back together? For a big box like that, I don't think it'd be hard to pop the side and pilfer a bag only to glue it back together.

  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 851
I shook the contents of the boxes and weighed again...it was now 4 oz difference.  I looked at the seals pretty well....they aren't loose like the box has been beaten.  I think too these might be X-mas returns that Target is finally getting too.  There's also a #42039 24HR Race Car for $90.xx.

^Thanks to you (of course, I need to blame someone haha), I want #70751...I think it would be a great addition to any town.

Took a poke around Target's website...

    'Tis the off-season: Winter Toy Shop #10249 @ 67.99 (15% off)

    -----

    And, a definite NOT-DEAL: Fun in the Park #60134 for $49.99 (20% mark-up)
(Even TRU has it cheaper @ $30.99)

    This feels like reverse profiteering?
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,353
Maybe that's variance in your scale, especially if it's hard to balance the item on the weighing plate.
Is it analog? Then it might be hard to precisely read.

Both weights are off by 2-3 ounces. BL gives you a weight for the set.

If it is off by a few OZ it is probably OK I think. I doubt thieves are concerned about the weight as returns are not weighed (at least at this time).
Only two ways to know for sure: X-ray it, or open it.

Unfortunately those managers at Target do not cater prices to the resellers.
    KingAlanI
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
^It's not about resellers, is about having an item that hasn't sold that well still stock and that stock not moving/diminishing. They should be pushing new polybags every two months or so.

My 2 nearest Targets have been strange since just before X-Mas.  One store has gotten rid of CMF bags altogether and still hasn't gotten any Batman and hasn't even received the City Hot Rod poly, yet there's aisles of Star Wars #30275.  The 2nd Target has CMFs but has only 1 aisle of polys.  So they haven't been getting anything new.

Ugh! 2 posts in a row!  Sorry.  I've seen people talking about finding "salvaged" Lego from Target that's been donated to their local Goodwill.  Anyone have a rough time frame of when it's off the shelves at Target to on the shelves at Goodwill?

    Nope.

It depends 1) when Target identifies the items a salvage; 2) when Target donates them; and 3) when Goodwill has the manpower and time to stock them.

Do some goodwill locations just send all Lego straight to the auction site?  I have never seen any lego around me, not to say they arent just sold super quick.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 851
I was at a smaller Target on Thursday and they had about 10-12 #21117 Minecraft Endors Dragon set for $34.98...for a month with no price change...so I scanned it....said it was no longer in system....so I found a manager and she said she'd sell them for 70% off ($17.98).  I bought a few, so today when I decided to pick up a couple more after work...the 'clearance' aisle was gonna and the guy there said it was packed up for salvage/Goodwill.

Nice deal! Targets around here had about that same level of stock for a couple weeks, then it all disappeared. Checked my local Goodwill but no luck there. I already had 3 copies at 50% off, so I can't complain.
It seemed like each Target had a couple #76026 Gorilla Grodds sitting around forever at $35 too. I kept checking, but they never dropped to 50% off. I already had a couple, but I was hoping to get some cheaper and return the ones I have.

  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 851
Went back to this Target today and found a #42039 for $64.48 and found 9 #21117 Minecraft Endor Dragons that were supposed to be 'salvaged'.  I took them to the front desk and a manager told me I could have all of them for $14.98 a piece.  There was still a Architecture Studio on the clearance shelve for $104.xx(30%off) but I passed on that one.

So this is from another couponing site, credited in the watermark. It shows promos coming up regarding LEGO Batman next Sunday...the fine print under the coupon " $50 or more" line is - entertaining. Hope posting a link like this is ok...

^ So does that mean it excludes the Penguin set given that it's a hard-to-find exclusive?

I have never found Lego at Goodwill. I believe it all filters through their auction site. I've had luck at other chain second hand stores, however. The smaller charity stores seem to think they can price at or above retail and it will sell. Quick way to go out of business.
