"In this big-screen Ninjago adventure, the battle for Ninjago City calls to action young Lloyd, aka the Green Ninja, along with his friends, who are all secret warriors and LEGO Master Builders. Led by kung fu master Wu, as wise-cracking as he is wise, they must defeat evil warlord Garmadon, the Worst Guy Ever, who also happens to be Lloyd’s dad. Pitting mech against mech and father against son, the epic showdown will test this fierce but undisciplined team of modern-day ninjas who must learn to check their egos and pull together to unleash their true power."

kinda jumping the gun there mate
Based on that picture, jumping the sword seems more appropriate.
Yes, I noticed that reference to Master Builders, but that's pretty much it. The original description mentioned that the movie will include live action and will have nothing or little to do with the plot of the TV show. But now it seems like pretty much the same.
This was the original announcement in 2013: http://https//youtu.be/f31XQfSVWs8
And this is the current description from Wikipedia: "6 ninja are "hired" by an old Sensei (Jackie Chan) and become the "heroes" at night. Defeating monsters and riding awesome vehicles. But, at day, they face their greatest enemy yet: High School. Meanwhile, a hungry warlord (Justin Theroux) plots for revenge on his brother, Wu, who was the Sensei that trained the ninja."
Yeah, that very well could be. There is a whole generation that grew up on Ninjago, and they would want to see the characters they are already familiar with, not some silly high-school flick.
For older LEGO fans Ninjago doesn't have much meaning, so they would probably just go to see it for the sake of their kids.
I'm just curious of how they will handle this film as the information revealed so far has been very conflicting. Also, I'm wondering if two LEGO films in a year is too much. Even Star Wars only gets one.
:o
The new designs for Lloyd and Garmadon are pretty great, although to be honest I don't quite like Lloyd's design as much as many of his other costumes from previous waves. The torso feels kind of tame/realistic, without any fancy icons or symbols. The colored eyes are a creative touch, though.
Some of the people involved with the theme have been teasing that there might be a trailer soon… I wonder if it will be in front of the LEGO Batman Movie, or sooner. My brother recently pointed out that the Super Bowl is coming up at the end of this week, and a lot of companies release new movie trailers around that time.
For what it's worth, I believe I remember seeing an early concept artwork for the theme that featured Ninja versus Garmadon in a very urban setting, in which Garmadon already had four arms and the Ninja (who in the theme's first year relied largely on dragons and more traditional weapons/technology) were already riding high-tech vehicles. Can't seem to track it down now, though...
I feel like seeing him as his Lordly self again is like meeting an old friend I haven't seen in forever.
Kind of bothered that the movie is seemingly going with pseudo-Asian scribble writing rather than actual Japanese. In fact, it seems to be just a cipher applied to English words. Kai's outfit says "Fire", Zane's says "Ice", Nya's says "Water", etc. Lloyd's seems to just say "Ninja".
I for one.. I'm.. a little "eh" towards these designs, they're not bad but they're pretty different to me. I'll get used to them, though :) I just hope we get some of that hair in the sets, I think Lloyd's could be a possible alternative to Episode 3 Anakin Skywalker.
As for the designs... I actually really really like how unique they all look overall. Giving Nya her own outfit colour solves the problem the show's had with flicking her between dark red and light blue, the new hairpieces are hella nice (the excessiveness on some 'em really give me anime vibes, especially whatever's going on with Kai), and the uniqueness between the outfits is so, so welcome.
All in all: give me this film ASAP
Funny you say that, 'cos Dash's hair in the Alpha Team game is practically a dead ringer for Zane's new hair:
And I have no idea why...
HERE WE GO
I'm sure there'll be some hardcore Ninjago fans moaning about changes to characters/existing story but frankly they need the mass appeal that they could only get this way rather than either exactly remaking or continuing the cartoon.
Good to see the humour is looking consistent across the LEGO movies, and I've already noted a few potentially interested no sets/new minifig parts that could be possible.
*sigh*
