My calendar says it is Thursday with a 58% chance of War tomorrow.
100% chance of more BS from some politician somewhere. :)

Yes is does seem to ignore the 221 armed groups fighting each other in 29 countries around the world right now.
Maybe it is time to stop selling guns to anyone?

@stlux I guess they don't have a smaller box that can accomodate that Friends thing without growing in all directions... (but yes, their 3 box sizes only setup is 'extra special')

Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter. Boo. But apparently the experts reckon he's wrong. Who do we believe - some 'experts' or a tubby furry rodent thing? Who? Who? Who can we trust.......

We're eating pancakes for Candlemas here - never realised hedgehog day is on the same day ;) we've just eaten ours - happy friends/hedgehog/pancake/Candlemas day!

(And yes I realise shrove Tuesday is pancake day too... )

Lego related, I've not been able to build anything the last 2 days (try to do something even if it's just 5 min) - getting cravings!

Maybe I should built the friends hedgehog set ;)

@snowhitie I have just read the Wikipedia entry for Candlemas, I grew up in a non-liturgical church, and have decided that my crepe pan has been gathering dust too long. Thanks for mentioning it. And I'm going to assume thankfulness from my family who would otherwise be served something containing broccoli this evening :). Happy Candlemas to you!

@sid3windr what about 'Maria lichtmis'? I guess I do like keeping quirky (and jummy) traditions alive.

It's even the day on which the university of Leuven always has a day off (it's their patron saint day). There's even an expression 'geen madammeke te arm of ze maakt op lichtmis haar panneke warm' .

Which translates for the non-dutch speakers too 'not a woman so poor that she can't heat up her pan at Candlemas'

    - and to all you Sumo's, pitfalls and Legoboys it says pan, not man!

Or when half of your BL orders don't have tracking numbers, and so you spend the whole night wondering which of your orders is actually there!
mailed without tracking number, or the seller didn't provide you with it? I nearly always print labels, thus there *is* a tracking number, and include that in the ready to ship message I send the buyer.

@KingAlanI Not really sure. I don't think they provided it to me, either that or the system on my end automatically chose the shipping without tracking option and I just didn't notice lol!

Status: Currently reflecting on the fact that I have been out of my DA for almost a year (mid-February, 2016). After going a few weeks in December without purchasing anything, I think I treated January as a month of getting myself re-birthday (?) presents, as can be seen in the following picture of purchases made last month:

What did I treat myself to thanks to the many different sales and just a general lack of control over my credit card once it escapes my wallet?

    Target/Walmart (30-75% off)

    • 75150 Vader’s TIE vs. A-Wing, 41112 Party Cakes, 41135 Livi’s Pop Star House, 21119 The Dungeon, 70734 Master Wu Dragon, 75825 Piggy Pirate Ship, 70906 The Joker Notorious Lowrider

    Meijer (60-75% off)

    • 31039 Blue Power Jet, 31027 Blue Racer, 76046 Heroes of Justice: Sky High Battle, 70316 Jestro’s Evil Mobile, 411180 x 3 Ragana’s Magic Shadow Castle, 41113 x 3 Party Gift Shop, 41179 x 3 Queen Dragon’s Rescue, 70736 Attack of the Morro Dragon

    Brickset Marketplace

    • 40140 Flower Cart (gift), 10232 Palace Cinema (used), 10251 Brick Bank (used), 10246 Detective’s Office (used), 10218 Pet Shop (used), 10211 Grand Emporium (used), 75052 Mos Eisley Cantina, 40221 Fountain, 79018 The Lonely Mountain

    Ebay

    • 10246 Detective’s Office (used), 21006 The White House and 21122 The Nether Fortress (Fortress was on sale on Barnes and Noble listing, and B+N and Ebay both had coupons I could apply), 10253 Big Ben (seller had listed about 1 minute prior this NISB for $250 plus free shipping. I gave a best offer of 20% off and it was accepted in 5 minutes. Should have gone lower, maybe. Checked inside when it arrived and everything is present.), 79018 The Lonely Mountain (used), 31050 x3 Corner Deli ($15 off Ebay coupon used on these), 7280 x 3 Road Plates (new, $10 apiece w/ free shipping)

    LEGO S@H

    • 40206 x 2 Santa, 40205 x 2 Elves’ Workshop, 31031 Rainforest Animals, 30524 Mini Batwing (free) (mostly used VIP points for this order of sale items)

This was my most expensive month as an AFOL, so I am going to need to live vicariously through everyone else's purchases and updates for the next few months.

Sick at the moment, but very cheered up by my mum bringing us a bag of charity shop Lego yesterday. So far, have found CMF Sherlock Holmes, assorted stormtroopers and clone troopers, Darth Maul, a couple of cops-and-robbers minifigs and assorted bits and pieces that seem to have come from Star Wars sets.

The last two days have been all sorting, all the time with just 10 minute breaks for snacks and changing to the next Netflix series to binge watch. Now finally the drudgery is over and I've allowed myself to actually make something from the Lego sets that were being bought and were piling up.

I did have the blue jet creator set,  #31039 to take apart too but I hadn't built the boat or helicopter. The completionist in me means all 3 models have to be built from the creator sets before the parts are sorted and put with the rest of the pieces. So I've just finished that about 20 minutes ago.

Can I just recommend to anyone that doesn't have it already, #31039 is absolutely excellent for helicopter build alone! I enjoyed it immensely, especially the techniques used around the cockpit and for the engine section under the rotor blades.

After a few weeks of self-imposed restriction on building (excepts CMFs that don't really count), the sorting was making me resent Lego a bit and I realised I was turning a bit President Buisnessy.

Now I'm going to enjoy getting back to using Lego the way it's supposed to.

Cue the end of the sorting montage in this part of the movie and freeze frame on me jumping in the air, fist aloft.

Just got the last few LEGO Batman Movie CMFs I needed to complete the set. This now means I won't be buying any LEGO until April, a vow of only buying the CMFs until April started in December and so far I've stuck to it.

Of course now I won't have the crutch of buying a CMF here or there, will I survive? Pretty sure that my birthday at the end of this month, my backlog of sets and an ongoing MOC project with my wife will see me through, but still :-P

Sometimes I've picked up DUPLO/LEGO for Mom to uses as kids gifts. Sometimes I've resold to a store clerk just above cost for his kids, but he rarely has cash on him when the deals are.
