    I knew what a merkin is because it's the name of the President in Dr. Strangelove and Wikipedia helpfully linked to the term.
    Many things used in film production aren't used in equivalent real life situations. For another example, a macho man wearing makeup to look normal under stage lights. Sometimes feminists find it unrealistic for a character to be missing hair in a historical/apocalyptic scenario, but that might be explained by the actress' real life condition, and not wanting to worry about level-of-hair continuity.

    Back on topic - I think BrickLink says you can take a preassembled minifig, disassemble it and list the parts as new, but is silent on the reverse.

    ^There are apparently people buying LEGO storage bricks for $40 EACH, so  at just under $7 each I would not be surprised if somebody bought those LEGO buckets. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on some of the storage bricks that were listed on Craigslist for about that same price.

    ^^That blue #1776 bucket brings back memories. I got that for my birthday when I was probably 6 or 7. It really solidified my love of Lego.

    Not ebay but Craigslist. As there is no price, I'm not sure how ridiculous it is. But I like the claim that this is the largest lego collection ever posted on Craigslist. Maybe true?

    They are selling Legos that they are buying from over people and having it shipped directly to their buyer. No checking weights of the actual legitimacy of the lego they just bought/sold.

    • I analyze hundreds of listings a day and evaluate every single one of them to determine the actual quantity of LEGO that they include. I subtract out estimated weights for any of the following...
      • Shipping shortages.
      • Packing material.
      • Knock-off (non-LEGO) brand pieces.
      • Junk and other types of toys.
      • Bins and boxes.
      • Bionicle and DUPLO pieces (even though these are LEGO most bulk buyers would rather not have them included).
      • Manuals.
    All that, without ever actually seeing it.

    ^108 sold. Oh my. How can one become an expert at determining what is in a Lego bulk lot without ever seeing said bulk lot? If asking the seller what is in the lot makes you an expert...well...So, you are paying for this "expertise"? If he's an "expert", yeah, well maybe I'm a Chinese jet pilot.

    So sitting on the ice for four hours turned out pretty uneventful but luckily the seller helped me with that for a bit.
    I looked up other meanings of Fugazi and the other clear definition was as a military acronym that would make no sense in his context.

    Well, if the seller really means 'fubar' then maybe it's broken (hence a reason you can't return it). Still dishonest - I can only think they are hoping that no-one googles Fugazi before buying a fake, broken minifig. Then afterwards they can say it's all in the description...

    I'll play. I'm of the opinion that the description  COULD be accurate. By openly stating that the item is 'fughazi' (fake), you COULD use the term authentic.  One of the defined meanings of authentic is 'of undeniable origin or provenence'.  The seller openly stating its origin as being fake and is so sure it is then allows them to state it is most definitely an 'authentic fake'. 
    Misleading? Most definitely! Wrong? That's actually arguable...

    ^^Great. It had never even occurred to me that people would be auctioning off piles of paper manuals. Now that I know they are listed, I'm going to have to take a closer look, since the vast majority of my collection came with no manuals. The PDF instructions online are okay, but after starting at a screen all day for work I really prefer paper manuals.

    Saw this eBay auction for #70411.

    First glance it looks ok. Then noticed:

    1. Description points out there is an incorrect piece in a 100% complete set.
    2. Look at image 5. That croc does not come with that set. That is an old style croc and a manky one at that.
    3. Look at the background of the images. The Lego may be smoke free and pet free, but it probably isn't spider free!

    Careful, there are some people in this forum that consider they own the set, even if some pieces are missing or if there are substitutions ;) The person selling the item might think it is 100% complete because the correct parts were used, but not necessarily the right color.

    received an 8010 NISB with a slight blemish on the box. seller didnt specify that i will get a free wifebeater as a bonus with that. packaging by some ebay sellers never stops to amuse me. regardless the item arrived as described at half price of what these go for nowadays, with a freebie.

    I'm being extra careful to use the right pieces when building Brick Bank in case I end up selling it.

    FYI: 'wife beater' means a sleeveless tank top, stereotypically associated with angry men, now a neutral fashion choice, but still a weird name. Louis CK said that's like "child murder shorts". I suppose clothing works as package stuffing and might be a way to dispose of clean but unusable pieces.

    The title says collection but it's only one ship, that is far outclassed by it's remakes, and doesn't have the box. But dont worry it's in good condition which warrants the $500+ price tag!

    @ricecake yes the punk band or the Marillion album of the same name. I always thought it meant "fu...", er, "flipped up". I guess if you stood on a landmine (as suggested by @Toc13) that would be an adequate description of the effect.
