^We are gonna need a few more bricks in that set and we're not gonna pay for them because we don't like the 'quality' :p

^^^ It doesn't matter about the quality of the bricks just as long as the bricks are made in the Mexican factory and paid for by the Mexican Government. :)

Staring at the screen today, watching the #75150 at 50% off. And wondering if I should pull the trigger or not. Not that much into Rebels show, but on the other hand the ships are in the movies too, and there is Vader (of which I already have 2, but one more won`t hurt one bit).
    So, should I or shoudn`t I?
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@arathemis Are you asking a bunch of addicts whether you should feed your addiction? ;)

So far I have only built the A-wing from this set, and quite liked it. 50% off is nice too. That's pretty close to the lowest price this set has ever been sold at.

Wha...? The fact that the movie is right there waiting to be watched makes it worse :-)

I also watched it after coming out of my Dark Ages and have watched it many times since (I have the 3D version with the Vitruvius minifigure). Since it includes an Ultraviolet version of the movie, I sometimes even play it at the office ;-)

Watch it! Watch it! Watch it! Watch it! Watch it!

@arathemis Which store are you looking at? I've been seeing it at Walmart at $64 and don't wanna bite, and I am a Rebels fan.

@arathemis go for it. I love the Rebels series but was stopped by the £80 price tag, the size of ships feels like maybe a £60 set even with the license. I got mine for £40 when Asda had a sale before Christmas.

Also, Vader has the new helmet that detaches to leave the chin area and respirator.

Got home last night to discover rodents have made their way into my car. I set a trap last night hoping to catch the culprit. Came back out to my car this morning and the trap was gone...

It was a sticky trap. Either I'm dealing with a sizable foe, or it wasn't sticky enough. It was all chewed up with my bait cleanly gone.

If it is just mice, I cannot recommend the Victor Tin Cat highly enough. Havahart traps work great for bigger critters and are less of a risk than conibear traps.

@datsunrobbie, I have to admit that type of trap would be preferred. I need a few of them around my place. It's a new house that was, less than 8 months ago, all grassy fields. I guess it's to be expected.

However, something about them being INSIDE my car makes me want to snap them bad!

    Decisions decisions...

@Switchfoot55 At least it wasn't wasps building a nest inside your rearview mirror and not discovering them until driving along down the road with the window open! Then again, we had a mouse escape from a sticky trap, leaving his tail behind.

Have you checked under your hood?

I have had squirrels (other rodents?) feast on nuts and fruit on top of my engine block (there's a niche) and poop EVERYWHERE. Frustrating.

Just imagine the smell as I drive on the freeway with my fan on.

^My wife's vehicle has already suffered $1200 in chewed wires due to rodents this winter.

That may explain my desire for them to suffer a bit. Vindictive, I know. But very much justified!

Valentine's vignette is currently half price on [email protected] And because I really want it I was super happy to get it for €4.99. Except to get free shipping I had to buy another €50 worth of Lego....

But yeah I still saved €4.99......!

Finished off #60079 by building the plane with my daughter. Then got into a discussion about Newtons 3rd law and how jet planes work, this led on to watching some land and water speed record videos and now I want to build a little version of Bluebird K7!

Packaged up some trades to post out tomorrow in return for a pile of polybags to add to my ever growing collection.

Oh and I arranged a deal that should see three of the new TLBM polybags coming back in hand luggage from the US soon.

Got some MDF sheets to trim to size over the weekend ready to widen my modular street by 16 studs to allow AS to fit in there when I get it this year.

Busy LEGO evening all in all.

Does anyone else feel buyer's remorse after making purchases? I always do, when I think of how much money I'm spending, then I find some weird reason to justify it, then I forget about it and buy more. The never ending cycle...

I don't feel remorse, per se. It's just when you think of the total when compared to something else, like a mortgage payment or a used car, that things start to get put into perspective.

I feel regret sometimes. I should be doing some things with some more of the money I have than buying as much as I do, and doing other things with the time spent building stuff, and I'm not.

Psychologically it's pure avoidance issues, not wanting to deal with certain bleak aspects of Life and choices I have to make. But spending too much time on an avoidance path is dangerous for me, as I find myself feeling like I'm circling the drain, not actually moving forward.

Too much of an answer? ;) Had therapy today...a bit too self aware right now. It'll pass.

Didn't buy anything at Target, but got a good look at 2017 sets in person, composed my wantlist and saw what to wait for sales on. My fat ass wants #60150 Pizza Van, #41311 Heartlake Pizzeria and #60910 Scarecrow Special Delivery. :P Also #41233 and #41301 for dog figurines and minidolls, maybe I'll build the car from 41301. #41039 Andrea's Musical Duet goes with Pop Star

I got my W2 already, but need to put together a Schedule C for my BrickLink store. (For people from other countries - US income tax returns are due on April 15th. Late January and early February is the busy season to start working on them as the information becomes available. The W2 is a form listing income and withholding; foreign equivalents include P60 in UK and Ireland, T4 in Canada, 106 in Israel. Schedule C is for self employment.)

My local Tesco has the Lego Batman Movie CMFs for €2.99 each i.e. the old CMF price. I bought the 8 I wanted.

This weekend was a sorting and tidying weekend in terms of Lego but instead the Evil Mr. Tesco has opened a can of worms and I'm going to have to buy the rest of the series tomorrow...and then the full Batman Movie sets and the books with the minifigs and source the polybags somewhere and buy even more sets to get the disco and clown Batman figs in February and...and...and...

I knew I should never have left the house this morning!

On a related note, I no longer having a Lego building hobby or habit anymore. It's now just a weird hobby of buying sets, adding them to an increasingly worrying pile that is just decoration for a room in which I move small bits of plastic from one large  bag to several smaller bags, then to a tray and onwards to boxes or drawers.

Basically this is now a fairly in depth logistics operation! I'm kind of getting a bit disheartened by the whole thing really. As somweone with a bit of compulsive behaviour and who sticks to promises I've made to myself no matter how long it takes, my plan of taking apart all the sets I don't have on display, then sorting them away has been going on over a month.

I've not built any sets, not been able to make an idea I had for the January build competition and especially not even looked at starting any larger MOCs. Just take apart, move and sort. Like a robot. Everything torn asunder.

So my current Lego status is: "Now I am become death, destroyer of worlds."

Is there a thread that has ideas on how people get started doing that? I'm in over my head.
I'm not sure. You can ask in one of the bricklink threads here though.

    A little backstory on me:
My parents bought/sold discount LEGO before I was old enough to be involved. First things I can remember are a Bounty Hunter Pursuit and Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter that showed up from LEGO in a horrible state. Even though they were clearenced, LEGO sent replacements for free, and didn't want the others back. Things went on from there- Mars Rovers came and went, and others I can't remember.

Then, fast forward to a few weeks before Christmas 2006, my family was on vacation at LEGOLand CA, looking through the Big Shop. My mom asked "What's this?". I didn't know- neither did my brother. It turned out to be the first Clone Trooper Battlepack (and droid one, too, but that one was less interesting). And, not being released yet, they were valuable. We brought a loooot of battlepacks back home with us. Still have about 40 left today.

Things grew from there. I took over buying and selling things a few years later, and started buying bulk lots on Craigslist. Nothing happened quickly, but bulk LEGO started to accumulate. In 2015 I really started selling stuff on Ebay. Then I discovered Bricklink, and have been going full-steam ever since.

Well I spent half the day doing nothing, except watching that old movie Horror Express, from 1973, which I'd never seen. Then I composed a 36 second jingle for a video I will make advertising my Orient Express project on Ideas. So far, this day's been great!

Got impatient waiting for my BL order that included two SC fenders, so I went and temporarily disassembled my R18 to use the fenders to make the SC 1969 Camaro a stock one. That, and building a fruit delivery truck as well as changing the wheels and tires on two 4 wide cars.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,342
Dusted off and stored more of my display. As I hoped, I'd have more time on the weekend. I spent more time playing with them than I did when they were sitting out. Put minidoll footrests on furniture in #41135 - hadn't had spares when I built that.
The title object of #41106 is too long to fit in the bottom of a #10697 box, can't readily be disassembled, and is too big to securely put standing up. That one I'll leave out, I guess.

As a kid buying one more set often got me more interested in my whole collection. My KFOL spares are pretty well sorted except for a bin of odd part types; I've only tweaked that. I came back due to a January 2016 clearance on 2015 sets, including 4 #10692 I kept the rare color parts, BrickLinking the common ones. Then I got a #7961 without minifigures, setting me further on the path to a BL store.

@vizzitor we all get backlogs, is that it? I disassemble only enough for compact storage to cut down on disassembly and rebuilding time, would that help you? Are you busy with non-LEGO stuff?

Thanks for the advice @KingAlanI. I'm just trying to take apart everything that's not out on permanent or semi-permanent display on shelves and sorted away so I can start building MOCs knowing where all my pieces are in their drawers or boxes. More sets have been bought since that decision was made so it's going to take even longer. I've only myself to blame...and shops for having sales back in November and earlier this month.

Like you said though, everyone has to deal with a backlog but I guess I bought more than usual over the last 3 or 4 months so I can see the boxes pile up!
