hope you all have a bricking 2017.
keep on building building building.
new years resolution. to hold on to the place for the christmas lego display in the living room and show off my Modula's in there place after christmas display gets put away.
get more work done, including being more proactive in sorting sets I part out. Sometimes I wait until I get an order; it takes longer to fill the order and more time overall.
I often stay up too late; that's one reason why
On another note, could use #10697 and #10622 boxes and plastic tubs to store models I'm not displaying
For those interested, this is the quick build of #31053 with a little extra scene made from the extra pieces.
One of my recent BrickLink customers wants me to ship to his work address so his wife doesn't bother him about buying LEGO. Reminds me of once when the guy in front of me at the supermarket wanted his donut on a separate receipt. I eventually decided not to worry about paypal seller protection address rules on a small order.
a "whe he's 245 pounds" donut? :)
@SumoLego and I are both heavyset, we can joke about that
reminds me of oversized beer mugs or wine glasses, or pancakes the entire width of the griddle, where you can joke you had only one.

I ran into a rare piece/color combination being expensive, relatively speaking by my standards - White Slope, Inverted 45 2 x 2 Double Convex part 3676 for $1.09 new. The only recent sets it appears in are Brick Bank and Disney Castle, so low supply, and bricklinking those increases demand. Color and shape are important for my project - I'm getting them to replace light gray ones or white regular inverted 2x2. I also want some blue ones, and they start over $2 used, but I don't want to redo the blue part of the project in another color. $1.09 is the lowest new price, I was already ordering from that seller, and the decent used prices were low quantity.
I just sorted through my 30-year old childhood LEGO Space and Technic. I couldn't believe how many teeth marks there were on the parts (I never had a brick separator as a kid) and also how nearly all of the white parts had discoloured to some degree :( Please tell me that modern white LEGO fairs better? A few Technic axles were jammed solid in Technic pulleys and one blue 2x10 plate that had discoloured to a greenish hue snapped clean in two when I tried to remove a 2x2 plate from it!
I think I need a drink now.
Hey @Speedman29 is that From Russia with Love?
Back to work today so nothing LEGO related.....until I popped to Sainsburys to pick up some lunch and came back with chocolate and a pair of 25% off Microfighters!
And the other order had a error again... had to track down some pieces in my storage to solve it temporarily
It's made me regret making something that big. Took up the 3 day weekend and my fingers are numb!
Gotten pretty handy with two brick separators though. Thinking of attaching them together with a chain so I can pretend I'm Bruce Lee with nunchucks the next time.
Need to make something soon. Been going cold turkey on opening anything new since November.
On the LEGO front, it has been fairly quiet... My daughters got #41116 Olivia's Exploration Car, #41302 Puppy Pampering, #41304 Puppy Treats & Tricks and #41180 Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle and we spent a pleasant couple of afternoons building them all.
So far, I have not received any LEGO for Christmas... :-( But my other half is going to buy me #10255 Assembly Square, when I can get it with extra VIP points or similar. :-)
Other than that, I built the #10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van that I purchased a while back and really enjoyed the build.
On that subject, I have also been converted to the Elves range, as Ragana's Castle is an excellent set and the girls really enjoyed building it. I think they'll be getting a few more sets from that theme! :-)
#75156 in flight mode (with its wings folded out) has a huge wingspan.
ps.
Oooh, and of course Happy New year, best wishes for 2017 to you all!
pps.
Is it just me, or does it take forever for other people too, for quite many of the (especially larger) photo's to load onto the page when you open this topic (or the: 'what are you building right now?' topic)?
Does not matter if I check it on my cell phone or regular pc. It is really annoying.
My OCD future self won't let me just lob them in their boxes either, as it would take twice as long to put them up next year (it took me a week this year).
Have resigned myself to not building anything until the weekend. :(
So, of course, I took the day off today and decide to sleep-in and procrastinate by catching up here @ the forum and "contemplating" all the work I should be doing instead.
Worst part? I'm sure that as soon as I decide to get my butt off the chair and take a shower, I'll be heading to the LEGO store, Target and TRU.
I guess such is the life of a lazy, commitment-less, AFOL :-)
Oh, and Happy New Year fellow bricksetters.
yes. but my computer is lame. but still it should be able to handle an internet forum without major slowdowns.
I built 41180 without the obvious Elves accoutrements to finally have a big castle model for my medieval setup - now I want to actually display all that.
Soon after coming out of my dark age, I found a #7961 curbside missing only the minifigs - was your find missing anything? At another time, got a empty Doctor Who box which I use for storage.
On pc I actually use MS Paint for this purpose as it has a quick and easy resize function; on mobile I have a specific Image Resize app. Looking at the Apple/Google/MS stores, they all seem to have a basic resize app available. Most have poor interfaces, but I look past that for the 1 function they need to perform for 2 seconds.
After cropping my images, I usually resize them to 15-18%, ending up with an image 150-250KB in size, before posting it here.
So save yourself from having to look at plastic junk (everything else apart from Lego) a 3rd time and check their website before you visit their store again ;)
Thanks for the tip though, I'll check online first :) I think they are somewhat preparing as half of the LEGO shelves were empty...
Status: Reaching milestones in 2017.
1) Try to earn enough money for the Assembly Square ( not sure if this is a good Idea as I don't collect Modulars.)
2) Try to buy a MacBook. I'm soon going to college, so I need a good computer.
3) Try not to stress a to about buying new LEGO sets. They always come out with a lot, and sometimes I just overthink which set I want.
I should be able to accomplish all of these as long as they don't make a UCS Millennium Falcon.
;D
P.S. Do you want to know who the best builder is? Look at the second word.
Have a happy day everyone.
