I cannot find it now, but the other day I noticed someone selling a LEBQ set and in the description said LEBQ is the rare Chinese market version of LEGO, where LEGO change their logo to make it readable for Chinese people.

I always get a laugh out of sets that people know nothing about.... come up with some astronomical value.... and that snowballs when others see the set selling price and ask a similar ridiculous price because they also have this set (and know nothing about it).

The 041 Pre-School Bricks set (larger than Duplo)... dates to the mid 1960s. What would get me to buy one of these sets? Unless the box were mint, I wouldn't even pay $10. There are lots of very desirable old sets... but this is not one of them.... but 3 sellers out there think they hit pay dirt....

The issue with old (old!) sets is that aside from rarity there's no real market for them - unlike current sets, which may have rare elements or have a good aesthetic or play value.

I'd definitely be keeping hold of the misprint one instead of asking for a replacement! Actually come to think of it I don't think Lego would ask you to return the faulty fig. If they did I'd just track down a replacement via Bricklink and keep/sell the misprint. Actually, love the way his nose print looks like a scared mouth. This must be a pretty rare item, how much would itbe likely to go for?

Oh.... I don't know... there's lots of old time collectors who spend up to thousands for some of the rarest LEGO items out there... today people pay thousands for relatively common stuff.

Here's a Dutch collector friend of mine who built a town scene of the Town Plan era of the 60s, and there's several thousand dollars worth of playability here....

So can this thread double as ridiculous Bricklink offerings as well? I know it just retired (I think), but $1000, C'mon Man! The seller joined in October and has 0 orders... wonder why? ;) But they're willing to give a big discount to anyone paying in person with cash.

Basically type in any set you want into Bricklink and sort by highest price. The laughs are enough to keep someone entertained for at least 5 minutes...

I would say I may be guilty of listing items for a higher price than they are worth. But hey, if someone wants to pay $50 in Singapore for #21110, than I would gladly sell it if I had one. But how many people are going to pay $500 for this set? None?
