    ^ I agree, to a point! :-)

I do like the Ninjago dragons, as they are all very different, but look fantastic. I may have to get the Green NRG Dragon as well, as it's very different again from the previous ones, being technically a large wyvern, with what look like plastic wing membranes.

Saw this on the homepage.  Seems like good minifigures  for one of these packs.

Flickr user leninjamarron found this at a shop in Paris and put together a gallery showing off the packaging and minifigures!

Getting a Tournament Zane minifigure is a welcome surprise. Zane never wore this outfit in the show because he didn't compete in the Tournament of Elements (rather, he was what the other Ninja were competing for). But it's neat to fill that void in the sets.

The new Samurai-X doesn't fill as obvious a void, looking largely like a blend of the 2012 and 2015 versions of the character, but since there have been so many fewer Nya minifigures than the other Ninja, getting another is still a treat. This is actually one of four new Nya designs this year alone!

The two sky pirate foot soldiers are the best army building fodder in this pack. They both feel fairly authentic to sky pirates that have appeared in the show, and their lack of futuristic armor might make them a good fit even for a more traditional pirate crew!

The weapon selection in this set is nothing extraordinary, but I still think the weapons are good choices for the characters. I like Samurai-X's naginata especially, since it is basically a recolor of a weapon from #9566, which in turn took cues from her classic daggers in #2507 and #2172! She's never used weapons resembling these ones in the show as far as I can remember, but I still like seeing this sort of design continuity in the sets.

Battle packs like this usually aren't too great a value (RRP in the U.S. tends to be $14.99, or $3.75 per figure), but that's because usually they're made up in whole or in part by generic figs you can also find in other sets. Last year's #851342 stood out just for having TWO unique ghost figs and two generic ninja. But this new battle pack contains four unique minifigures, so it's less like a City Starter Set or Star Wars battle pack with a higher cost and only a fraction of the bricks, and more like a pack of four CMFs. So the price feels a lot more fair for this pack than it normally does. I hope that's a sign of things to come in other themes as well!

Just a heads-up for US viewers: LEGO Ninjago Season Six officially starts the evening of Thursday, June 9th on Cartoon Network. Additionally, Cartoon Network will be airing a ten-hour TV marathon of seasons four and five this Sunday, June 5th, if you need to get caught up!

LEGO posted a new stop-motion video this morning crossing LEGO Ninjago with American Ninja Warrior (a TV show where athletes try to conquer somewhat contrived obstacle courses). They had a similar video last year. Pretty amusing!

Does anyone know in what format the new Cole "polybag" #5004393-1 is being released, and where it is / will be available?  Is it a magazine release?

    Thanks...

It probably won't be a magazine release, since it's a box set rather than a polybag, and packing an actual box in a magazine would be incredibly awkward. Also, the magazine promos aren't numbered that way.

HelloBricks.com says it will be available as part of an promotion at JouéClub toy stores in France, but I'm sure it will be getting a wider release than that. If I had to guess I'd say it's probably going to be a LEGO Brand Retail promotion.

Yesterday's Wu-Cru challenge "Your Vehicle" revealed what are likely to be the 1HY 2017 ninja costumes: http://aanchir.tumblr.com/post/150010668611/lego-ninjago-ninja-level-11-these-costumes-have

The ninja were previously seen in these costumes in a couple leaked screencaps from a future episode of the show.

Looks like I may be getting a few of the 2017 sets if they contain certain elements I'm after in copper.

What sort of elements specifically? For the most part the only copper parts I see are minifigure and constraction-scale weapons, but those alone could still be useful.

I do think it's a little disappointing that despite finally bringing copper back for next year's sets, they didn't take advantage of that opportunity to add a giant copper penny to the new Batcave. :P

@Lyichir, mostly minifigure weapons, lightsaber hilts in particular, but I wouldn't mind the idea of minifigure accessories, like helmets, visors, armour, etc. I'd also like to see some bricks/plates/tiles in copper to allow for steampunk builds. The ultimate would be a monochrome copper minifigure, I'd want at least a half dozen to use for MOCs.

LEGO has released a teaser trailer for Season 7 (Hands of Time)! It looks like it's going to be intense!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS0HM4cSkgM

Also, the sets are beginning to show up at Target stores in the United States. legozebra from Eurobricks has posted a pretty great pictorial review of #70627 Dragon's Forge, and Jangbricks has likewise posted an excellent video review. That's probably the single most exciting 2017 set for me so far! It's a beautiful set with lots of display value and playability, and at $79.99 for 1137 pieces it's an amazingly good value!

I'm not sure, but the same ninja outfits have much richer colors and sharper reflections from 0:06 to 0:09 and 0:21 to 0:23 in the video. Maybe when putting together the trailer, the footage for that later scene wasn't quite finished?

I know they do several passes for animation - normally storyboard, rough draft, final draft, and finally polished/public.

I would imagine they're still completing some of the final rendering - after all, if the series doesn't start until next year there's still time for final tweaks and effect adding before doing a final render.

Nice! Looks like it's designed to match #30424. It's nice that this one includes Nya in her "throwback" costume, since otherwise that outfit only appears in the massively expensive #70596. Also a nice source for Zane hair, if it winds up being widely available. The fence and the Sensei Wu training dummy are also great. Overall, quite a lot to like in one very small package.

Question: What is the meaning of "NRG" in #70593 Green NRG Dragon?  Just built it, a very nice addition to my dragon collection.  I like some of the Ninjago theme, but have no knowledge of the story lines.

Energy. Nothing more complicated than that. It's just Lloyd's elemental dragon. Nothing particularly special.

In addition to what the above poster said, it's the same acronym that was used for the ninja's elemental forms from 2012 that were unlocked when they reached their "true potential".

the ninjas can kind of summon NRG dragons with their own energy, but only if they can face and surmount their fears.

Just checked on BrickLink for #30425 to discover #30424 was closest match, never even had that one here, so not expecting we'll see #30425, TLG really needs to start sharing around the polybags a little more evenly.

I don't think 30425 has been widely released yet. As far as I know it's a new set for this year. No telling how LEGO plans to release it. 30424 was released as a freebie at last year's "Quest 2 Ninjago" touring competition (and possibly elsewhere too). But no telling how LEGO plans to release 30425.

Think I'll have to take a look on BrickLink for #30424, because the only places around here that will be likely to have them will be the local Lego "specialist" toy shops & they'll probably want somewhere around AU$12-$15 for them.

there is the odd set showing as oos for uk but are in-stock on shop@home uk.
so this may be a bug left over from the shop@home webpage up date last year.
(sorry @Huw i don't remember the set numbers now.)

February at the latest. If we don't get a trailer before then we'll probably at least get one before The Lego Batman Movie, and even if somehow THAT doesn't happen the sets will definitely be shown on the Toy Fair circuit.

I'm not totally sure what you're referring to? 2014's Toy Fair did show all of the Lego Movie sets, including the summer ones. And there hasn't yet been a 2017 Toy Fair for Lego Batman Movie sets or Lego Ninjago Movie sets to be shown at. As what will certainly be one of their absolute biggest 2017 themes, I can't see Lego NOT showing off at least some of The Lego Ninjago Movie sets at Toy Fair, especially considering that unlike Batman it is based explicitly on one of their biggest in-house brands.

Movie and Batman sets were all blanked out and hidden. We got the names for TLM from a site, but no images.

I guess thinking about it a second time, TLM made sense cause the movie was out by then, and it'll make sense for TLBM too. But since the movie and probably no teasers will be out by NTF I don't think we'll see anything for Ninjago.

Maybe a blank red ? box for the minifigures series.. even then..

I still don't know what you're referring to, because there haven't been any Toy Fairs yet this year for things to be "blanked out and hidden", either for Batman or Ninjago. And we did get pictures of every single retail Lego Movie set from some of the Toy Fairs back in 2014.

A certain amount of secrecy is to be expected, as always, but the Toy Fairs exist specifically for retailers to get an idea of what sets would be coming out over the course of the coming year. It would make zero sense for Lego to keep the Toy Fair attendees completely in the dark about what's in store for one of their biggest themes. Remember, this isn't like other movie licenses where Lego is under duress not to reveal any spoilers ahead of time. This is a movie where Lego and Warner Bros. are equal partners in development and promotion, and as such unlike things like Super Heroes or Star Wars sets based on externally-produced movies, Lego isn't going to be beholden to any sort of NDA that would prevent them from making a big deal of such a huge media tie-in.

I doubt they will be spending much time or energy promoting the Ninjago Movie until after the Batman one has come and gone. Probably a teaser at least attached to the Batman Movie but beyond that they will be squeezing all the $$$ they can from what is currently happening.

How do you all think they'll go forward after the lego ninjago movie? Will the TV show and regular sets continue as they have? Or will the movie change anything? Just some questions to think about :)
