    These packs have some sort of integration with the app - also there's something new with the triangle shield bit I think, combine + make your own powers

    Yeah, I think that's a strength of the CMFs; you couldn't better design a collectable, impulse-priced series to hook in new fans or people ready to leave their Dark Ages with the right push.

    I'm quite surprised by the shields for the reasons you mention; it does suggest they think there's a decent market for them, but I guess we'll see.

    • The two wave 3 vehicles are in the colour scheme associated with their main characters: White for #70348 and blue for #70351. This principle will apply to the summer wave vehicles as well. 
    • The bottom vehicle is likely Macy's. The back/tail of the vehicle does look like a mace. Some kind of red dragon-like flier would be cool and fits her character quite well. 
    • The top one looks like a bull - Axl's coat of arms - ready to lunge. It's also the kind of hefty vehicle Axl would drive around in. 
    • The middle silhouette is quite likely some dune buggy/halo warthog light recon vehicle. Aaron's battle suit can connect to the back spoiler to form some sort of turret.

    And poor Aaron is the only one unable to combine all other vehicles it seems.

    I've always had some dislike for CMFs because there's no real building involved and not much play value. But I've given them a pass because they're diverse enough to inspire MOCing, provide interesting pieces, etc.

    These shield packs seem like a way for LEGO to bypass the negative perception of in-app purchases. I'd like them much more if a small build or minifigure (e.g. army builder type) were included. As they are, they just don't seem to mesh well with what LEGO is generally about.

    Yes, they need the app to do much of anything. Hence @Aanchir making the statement they aren't a complete, playable toy on their own.

    Either they think there is a market or they're testing the market. They already have a supply chain in place for CMF. It's probably not much of a risk for them to put something else in the packs and see if it sells.

    @binaryeye I think your idea about the bad reputation of in-app purchases probably has a lot to do with it - parents are so fed up with them in apps that have a big child audience...

    That's why I never bothered picking up any lol didn't notice any of those dots at the bottom of the pack regular minifig bags have.

    My local target is terrible for finding polybags. Then again this island is terrible for most things Lego.

    For me, the shield pack might be the perfect add-on item to reach the free shipping minimum spend to qualify for free shipping If the price is right. In general, I don't really understand what LEGO is aiming for with all these shields. The principle is okay but the execution is very odd: Kids can't afford to buy all sets in order to own all physical shields. Physical sharing is difficult because kids generally don't carry  the tablet or phone they use to run the app on around. There's also the problem of the sheer number of different shields, both physical and virtual. For adults, I don't see much interest in collecting the shields. After all, it's just one type of brick with a different print - very different from CMF's.

    As a parent of two KFOL I confidently say in-app purchases means instant disqualification. LEGO is very conscious of their brand image so I'm sure they'll stick to their meticulously executed plan of delivering multiple high-quality apps for free to make the ultimate soft sell.

    We got #70348 and #70366 delivered this morning:

    Loads of fun was had this afternoon.
    Lance's twin jouster is a lot better than expected. It's wings spread/fold like a mini u-wing. It also splits into two sections in a sensible way (Sensible in a very loose, Nexo-canon kind of way of course). The front is like a Knighton cycle on steroids and the back presumably gives fight capabilities to any of the battle suits. And Rogul is a fantastic-looking baddie.

    Another interesting bit of info: the last page of the #70348 instruction booklet shows a picture of The Book of Monstrox; very similar to the (highly recommended) Book of Monsters book published earlier this year.

    Saw these, tried to see if there was anything I could feel for like a CMF, but it just was not appealing to me.

    that's expensive. and I don't like the prints on the shields as much as in the castle theme.

    I like the prints, but while they're fun as a special decorated piece to get with the sets (like the evil books), I feel like the enjoyment would wear out a bit buying them in blind bags. With CMFs, even when I don't or can't feel the differences, I still feel like there's a bit of variety in each bag because the various parts of a figure and accessories may end up in several very different builds, depending on the inspiration they provide. Shields are destined to be shields.

    Thought: could you tesselate an entire floor with them?

    For anyone interested in the shield packs the target dpci is 204-00-1925. I ended up buying one cause of curiosity.

    hmmmm... 
    slept a bit on nexo. even got a fire tablet for 40,- back in september just to play some nexo! this is all very interesting. the game is turning pretty complex with all the achievements for each level and all those crafting and combining!
    the last time i fired up nexo there was something new called "robins toolbox" or something... didnt quite get it tough!

    in summer i played a bit on samsung galaxy s4 mini ...  but it not really did run smooth on it.

    i think i have the little fire tablet. its got a 7inch screen. nexo runs super smooth on it!

    i got a Amazon fire tablet on the way cost £34.99
    i am fed up of trying to pay stuff on my ipad 2 (come out in 2011)
    any program that come out in the last 2 years or had a update in the last 2 years. Crash's out. this also includes Nexo Knights.
    so i hope that i can get good use out of this new tablet. and it not a bad price for a tablet.

    Thanks for the info about UK exclusivity, chrisalddin.

    I was literally just about to ask whether anyone had seen these sets in the wild - as I haven't. I've been looking for them in the UK but mainly back home in Belgium.

    What puzzles me is that both sets now have disappeared from S@H. They were on there for a while pre-release, I posted the screenshot here earlier (and I'm really glad I did that). On the official release day some sets reappeared, but these did not.

    They still can't be found on the European S@H site. Googling "Lego 70358" returns a link tot the German S@H for me in about 6th position but S@H returns a "Page not found". Very strange, as country exclusives are typically also available direct from Lego.

    Might just be s@h updates being sluggish because of the time of year (or because it's the s@h site). I do hope they are also available there; TRU offers tend to be either on a higher threshold than I want to spend, or of the "spend X to get a money-off voucher for a future purpose" variety, and I'd rather bung those sets in an order when s@h is doing double points and/or a cool threshold spend freebie.

    OK, so today I bought one #70372 NEXO Powers pack out of curiosity.

    I take it we agree that these are not as good as the CMF as:
    - You can't identify them prior to opening the pack
    - There's not much you can do with the parts when you get duplicate ones.
    - Limited playability.

    Also, that they are expensive for what they are, and we'll probably stay away from them.

    So, given that we have no self-control whatsoever, where do you think we should start the thread to exchange duplicated shields? :-(

    Probably the market place.  The better question is where to discuss which shields make standards / coats of arms that are usable outside of the Nexo Knight line.  Here or start a discussion elsewhere (there's probably a discussion on EB, but I'm way too lazy to check).

    Additionally - I spoke too soon on the Battle Suits.  They appear to be pretty neat parts packs as soon as they go on sale.

    Battle Suits are already available at LEGO stores, or at least at my local one; got #70365 Battle Suit Axl today and just finished building it.

    One thing I was not aware of: Some of the shields, two in the case of Axl, are also part of Wave 1 of the power packs.

    ^^ Some of those look like good shop signage. The 1x1 brick and ice cream ones jump out as prime candidates. Welders mask and mouse being chomped are next-o.

    I am actually aiming to get Axl Battle Suit as he presents a glorious opportunity to be MOC into an Imperial construction mech, time for the Exo-Suit to get some help.

    Straight after posting my last message, I popped off to get my nephew's to  get them to start playing M2.0. They spent most of the day playing and looking for power shields on Google images, it was a peaceful time.

    Of course, I'm feeling a tractor like pull towards it also.

    Just built #70349 - Nice set for the price point, especially when bought before official release with 33% off ;-)

    I feel a bit like the Nexo Knights designers have been in competition to see who can squeeze the most new parts into a set. A small part of me wonders if it's been done in part to make the sets more appealing to the AFOL market as well as appealing to kids.

    I know some Tesco stores had this (and other new Nexo sets) on the shelf during the last 1/3 off deal just before christmas and I seem to remember a few members mentioning that they picked up this set then.

    yep but he said he only just got it, and the tesco offer been over for weeks, that is why i asked.

    No, I said I just built it. @bandit778 is correct I've had it stashed away for a while after finding it cheap in Tesco.

    I recently purchased an additional #30374, and on the package it names the minifig Ash Attacker.
    However, Brickset names the minifig Crust Smasher.
    Can anyone tell me if they are one and the same, or two different minifigs?

    ^  Two different minifigs. Ash Attacker has horns on the helmet. I believe the package is wrong.

    Well, that's it. Today I bought my second #70372 NEXO Powers pack... 3 out of 5 duplicates from the first pack :-(
