Re-released sets?

Whilst at the Leicester Square Opening a couple of weeks ago, I spotted a 'new' bauble I thought I recognised.  I punched the product code into my phone but Brickset had it listed as a 2016 release.  I bought a couple as I have had two of each of the others released since 2011.

Despite my visit 2 weeks ago, I've only just got round to unpacking my bags.  I came across the new baubles and again was bothered again by their familiarity.  It didn't take long to discover that they were of course very similar to those released in 2013, only they weren'the just similar, theyou were the same.

Please, somebody, are they really a duplicate or was my £14 well spent?

Does this happen often?  So soon after their initial release?

    Holiday ornaments for what reason are duplicated often. This rarely happens with sets. But I would expect that to continue.

    I believe the Metallic Gold / Trans-Yellow 2x2 Bricks Ornament also (and maybe the red one) are the same re-releases year-after-year as well.

    ^ But with a different number?  I can only find this bauble/ornament to be the only one to carry two product numbers.

    ^I believe the chrome gold minifigure key chains were also released within a few years of each other. It happens

    I would mention the USS Constellation ( #398 and #10021 ), but these two actually have a few small differences.

    Hmmm... Try hanging that one from your tree...

    While I know these aren't strictly re-releases on the basis of piece for piece copies of the original versions, these still count as re-releases, at least in my eyes:
