That made me look at the Maxi Toys website, and they have 2017 Friends, Star Wars and Nexo Knights listed. Supposedly all available, and the Star Wars ones are included in the -15% they currently have on Lego Star Wars (until 18 Dec).

I usually avoid Maxi Toys like the plague, but might pop into one of the Luxembourg ones later today...

^ Noooo, I was holding off on the Fortrex until it dipped below 50€. Now I have no excuse... thanks for the headsup! I don't see in-store pickup as an option when you order on-line, guess I'll head out to Nossegem for lunch at Ikea ;)

  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@sid3windr For in-store pick-up, I think you need to use "Gratis reserveren"/"Réserver en magasin" instead of "Bestellen"/"Ajouter au panier". Doesn't seems this option is available on all sets (definitely not on the 2017 SW sets), however it is on the Fortrex.

Fortrex seems available in all Maxi Toys stores, including the Evere one, so if you make a trip there over lunch it's unlikely it will be wasted ;)

Derp, totally missed that. Thanks! I've set my sights on Kotbullar for lunch though, so Zaventem/Nossegem it is! (Maxitoys there is right next to Ikea, and the site confirms it has the fortrex in stock)

My local Maxi Toys has slapped some -20 and -30% signs on some sets. That includes #75105 Millennium Falcon, bringing their stupid EUR 149.98 down to something more reasonable. #60047 Police Station is also 30% off from it's EUR 79.98 sticker price.
Both sets seem to have a different price in store than online.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
The fortrex was also labeled as 99.90€ in my local one, but rang up at 49.99€. I overheard one of the employees talking with the manager that they didn't actually know what prices to put up (wasn't about Lego), and they didn't want to do it 2 or 3 times this week :)

^Wow, you truly are a man of your word, @sid3windr :D Hope you like it!

@stlux None of those Nexo 2017 sets on the site are available for pickup either. All 2017 sets on the webshop lack pictures as well. Your remark about usually avoiding them made me laugh, I visited their stores only a couple of times but wasn't terribly impressed either. Even though the prospect of getting my hands on a Nexo wave 3 set or a SW 2017 set with 15% discount is tempting, I'm not risking ordering any of these. Quite possibly these are just placeholders and the sets will only be delivered after Dec 20th.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
I've learned that if I don't follow through on something I usually regret it later.

I had never been in Maxi Toys before, was happy to see they have about as much Lego as Fun does, but it's all at RRP, so I doubt it'll be there much barring big promotions like this one. Was kind of hoping they'd have some leftover old CMFs in stock, but alas.

@Kerre Their Lego is most of the time vastly overpriced, and the rest of the store is plastic crap that will fall apart after having been in the hand of a kid for more than 3 milliseconds. In my opinion ;)

My local Maxi Toys actually did have #75172 Y-wing and the #5164 Rebel Trooper battle pack when I visited today, but 15% off RRP was not enticing enough for me to buy them already. Would have jumped on Yoda's Starfighter in a heartbeat though. Or the A-wing, just to make people jealous with a picture of Lando ;)
So if you order these 2017 sets online, I'm fairly confident they'll actually ship them.

Thanks for being the voice of reason @stlux. No reason for me to buy the 2017 sets either, we still have many other sets to build at the moment.

And now for someting entirely different: Today's the last day Amazon.de has an extra 10 EUR off on any purchase of 40 EUR to celebrate the availability of their site in Dutch. Discount only valid when the shipping adress is in NL or BE and for items sold by Amazon but for almost the entire range, not only LEGO. Use the WELKOM code when checking out to get the discount.

@Kerre I'm usually a very rational person, using the "quantify, quantify, quantify" mantra with abandon in the office. Unfortunately this also includes me rationalizing my out of control Lego spending by saying that "it was a great deal!" ;)

Kinda back on topic (ignoring their atrocious RRP prices): Maxi Toys now has pictures of their 2017 Star Wars/Friends/Nexo Knights sets. Still -15% on Star Wars sets until the end of the week for anybody who is very impatient :)

-15% on Star Wars at Fun too until 18/12.

Most Star Wars sets at Fun are still overpriced at -15%, but EUR 169.99 for #75060 Slave I is not bad.

-15% on Lego City and Lego Star Wars till 18/12 on webshop Dreamland if you use the promocode D625 (Star Wars) or D631 (City).

And dreamland also has the spiderman bridge battle for under 80€!!
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
Seems like everybody is doing the -15% on Star Wars this week: Auchan here in Luxembourg is now doing the same.
Tempted by the #75149 Resistance X-wing Fighter for EUR 56.50, the #75153 AT-ST Walker for EUR 30 or #75156 Krennic's Imperial Shuttle for EUR 62.
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
TRU FR is doing a 3 for 2 promo on all Lego; valid today and tomorrow only.
For new customers: you also get EUR 10 off when spending more than EUR 60.
TRU FR delivers to both Belgium and Luxembourg, but not Netherlands.

TRU NL have 20% Star Wars when spending EUR 70 or more. Valid until Dec 21.
Delivery to Belgium also available, but not Luxembourg.

Was still able to order the TIE Striker for just € 40,82 from amazon.de with free shipping! Kerre was the one to post it in this thread (thank you!) saying it was the last day but Amazon has extended their promotion til the end of the month! Not sure if the same thing goes for Belgium and Luxembourg though...

    You're welcome, Aragosta!

The Amazon.de 10 euro off promo has indeed been prolonged. To the 31st of December to be specific.

    I managed
My niece managed to grab a #60130 City Prison Island for 41,19€ (51,19€ lightning deal - 10€ euro WELKOM10 discount) on the 12th. Delivered yesterday, well-packaged as usual when delivered by Amazon.de/fr. Xmas present for the boys - they've both been drooling over the set printed on the back of the City Christmas calendar for a few weeks now...

While we're at it: Supra Bazar has the mid-range of the barely released Nexo Wave 3 at 20% off at the moment:

    #70350 Three Brothers € 27.98 (€ 34.98 RRP); #70348 Lance's twin jouster and #70349 Ruina's lock and Roller for 15,98€ each.

Already have #70348 but couldn't resist buying #70349 for the boys.

In case you're wondering: Supra Bazar is a classic Flemish hardware/kitchenware/gardening/etc baanwinkel your grandparents used to shop at.

^ My bad. The correct code is WELKOM.  Apologies for the confusion.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
Yea, that is what I thought at first, I tried that one before I tried WELKOM10, but no go :-/

However, it does recognize it but doesn't want to give it to me (I even changed my language to dutch in case it was important)

    Er is iets misgegaan

Weird. You're not buying from a third party, right? 40 eur min purchase; sold and shipped by Amazon, delivery adress in Benelux and you can use the code only once.

Seems the S@H sale is on for NL. About 8 pages of them, including a fair selection of retiring Star Wars sets including #75150. Aboslutely zero items on sale for delivery in Belgium however :/
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
And another nice feature of the S@H site: When selecting delivery in NL, the site shows a completely different selection of discounted items. Selecting English shows about 8 items; selecting Dutch shows 8 pages of them - the same selection as LU gets. Selecting Dutch shows the full range of discounted items, all 8 pages of them. What gives, LEGO?
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
The sale in Belgium always starts on the 2nd of January. It's ridiculous, because it all comes from the same warehouse and by that time all the good stuff is gone.

But it's not TLG's fault, it's because of the laws in Belgium 'sperperiode' - however, Amazon etc has deals on all the time so I really don't understand why TLG shouldn't be allowed either. Maybe because the internet-address is actually 'be'?
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
The 'sperperiode' only applies to clothing, shoes and leather goods like belts etc, snowhitie. There is no law preventing discounts for other goods to be advertised. Just heard a DIY chain advertising its usual 15% discount on the radio.
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
^ I'm just repeating what CS told me last year when I complained - but might be wrong off course ;)
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
I sent LEGO CS a mail about the inconsistencies. There's no reason why items on offer for the same country should differ by display language only as was the case with NL. There's also no reason to display a 'Sale is now on'-banner when there are no sales on for that particular country. Those issues are resolved now.

I did not complain about there being no sales for Belgium. LEGO has every right to set their prices differently per country as they can choose whether to give discounts for a particular country. That does not mean it doesn't have an impact on how I perceive the company though.

As for the Amazon sales - a significant number of good deals gave a 'This item does not ship to Belgium'-message recently, both on Amazon.co.uk and .de. Annoying, but perfectly legal.
As a European consumer, we do have the right to physically go to one market/country buy the goods in countries/markets for personal use and take them to another country without VAT or duty implications. Something we both seem to do :D

Nexo Knights #70322 Axl's Tower Carrier for 37,50 EUR at Amazon.fr. Prime only (but you can get a free trial month every year apparently)

    Also, Fun.be has a few #70312 Lance's Mecha Horse's left at 9,99 EUR (50% off)
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
    edited January 2017
Fun has run out of Mecha horses online, but some stores have stock left - visible online but can't be ordered.

Meanwhile, Amazon.fr still has #70323 Jestro's Volcanic Lair available for 64,99 EUR (50% off RRP as well).

These deep discounts do make me wonder about size of Nexo stock out there in retail.
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
Dr who is 30% off on sh@p - I posted on the UK sh@p thread since these sales are usually similar (I double-checked). But not sure if all of you got notification for that one as well.

    Amazon.UK won't deliver to NL!?!?
I am trying to buy a Lego set sold by Amazon, but Amazon won't fulfil the order.
What the hell?!? Did something change?
I am not a Prime member, I never have been, and that never mattered. I could just order Lego from Amazon.uk, now it won't. Yet on the help & customer service page concerning international delivery rates & times I cannot find anything that indicates delivery to NL is barred! On the contrary, it stipulates that it is no problem.

Does anyone know what might have changed or is going on?!
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    @snowhitie
Regarding the Dr. Who set I just called Lego S@H since on the website it says it is 'out of stock' not 'sold out', however I was not able to order it over the phone because apparently it now is really sold out. €32,50 was such a nice price for that set, which btw looks like a nice set too, even if you are not a Dr. Who fan. Bummer! Ooh well, such is life, too late. Next time better luck.
(However not being able to order from Amazon really both baffles as well as annoys me tremendously.)
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@TheBigLegoski Amazon UK still ship to the Benelux, including Lego. I ordered Lego from them on Friday.

However what seems to happen since a couple of months is that when they do very deep discounts, they limit it to UK only. My guess is they do this in order to  limit their losses on those promotions.

But I agree: extremely annoying. I already shop a lot less on Amazon UK since they did away with free delivery to Luxembourg a couple of years, and this new limit will reduce my shopping with them even further.
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    @stlux
Yeah I don't buy often from Amazon UK either, ever since they stopped doing free shipping to NL.

I just contacted CS via their website, and a staff member in Dublin called me back. She would contact her manager, fill out some form, and get back to me tomorrow, or Wednesday, as she didn't know either why Amazon would/could not t ship orders to my address in NL. Wonder what good that does if that Lego set, and a book I wanted to order will either be sold out tomorrow, or will be much more expensive, and thus no longer a good bargain.

I don't get their business model at all! All they do every year is make losses if I am correct, I believe they have been in the red now multiple years in a row.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
When I was in Wijnegem on Saturday they still had physical Dr Who sets discounted. But it's a maybe bit far from Amsterdam... (though I guess only 30min further than I have to drive, myself ;))
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@TheBigLegoski Amazon has actually been profitable since about 2002-2003 (with the exception of some quarters here and there). However they have chosen over the years to invest most of their operating income in growth - building more and more logistics infrastructure and becoming the biggest supplier of cloud computing does not come cheap ;)
Over the past 2 years there has been a slightly larger focus on profitability, but they are not chasing quarterly profits for the sake of it.

(I don't own any AMZN shares as far as I'm aware)
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    @stlux
You are right, what I wrote was nonsense! Got the facts wrong, and was confusing news and info on financial annual/quarterly report from some other company.
    https://www.google.com/finance?fstype=ii&q=NASDAQ:AMZN

In case it wasn't obvious I do not have any AMZN shares either.  ;-)

(not there aren't any people who do in fact have shares of certain companies, or/and other financial/investment products, but forget to keep track of what happens on the stock market) => (just like there are people who do not keep track of which Lego sets they already own, and buy them again thinking they just bought something new they did not yet have)  ;-P      (though the latter is a lot less risky!)
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
Driving past Wijnegem today, stopping to check on Nexo Exclusives (Lance vs Lightning). Will check if Dr Who is still in stock.

The Amazon UK "This item does not ship..." thing hast started to occur on the Amazon.de site as well. They don't ship #70351 to Belgium for instance. I think it's a limit imposed by suppliers and or distributors rather than a cost measure taken by Amazon itself personally.

It's a very annoying thing indeed. I somehow managed to get one of those 20 GBP Turbo Tanks on UK last week only to find out it did not ship to Belgium. No message was displayed on the product page.
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
No more Dr Who sets in Wijnegem, all sold last Saturday according to the staff. Very few sale items remained. Mostly stuff other than sets. The few remaining link watches (Boba+Superman) 12 EUR sold well to families with kids.

Found what I was after (and more!) for myself but that's not for this thread - no deals in the strict sense of the word.

Also wanted to mention Maxi Toys has 50% off on the second set when buying two Nexo Knights sets - discount applied to the cheapest of the two. Not that good of a deal considering the deep discounts on Nexo sets to be had elsewhere except for the wave 3 sets. Most of those are sold out in the meantime; only interesting if you're after two Newo battle suits for instance. Offer valid until 29/1. I ordered the last 2 #70351's.

Colruyt is price matching ("rode prijs") someone (who?!), 2017 City/Friends/Creator sets normally 19.99€ now 9.99€, one of the 3 stores in Leuven even discounted to 7.99€. Promo is not in all stores, but my count is at 4 out of 6 at least ;)

  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
^ have any of the Leuven stores got some left over? ;) Seems like we're close by each other ;)
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
Too bad that my local Colruyt only carries a very limited range of Lego. Any idea yet who they are price matching? Doesn't seem to be Dreamland/Fun/Intertoys/Fnac/MaxiToys/Bart Smit.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
I have no idea who they're pricematching, would love to know :-) I've not bought EVERYTHING, just #41128 #60149 #60115 #60081 and #60148. Oops, it does add up.

They also had at least #60147 #60107 and #60121 available. One store also had #31033 I believe.

@snowhitie where are you from? Near Leuven as well?

I've read the promo is in Lanaken as well, didn't check Tienen, Haacht has nothing.

If you're after anything specific in the above sets, let me know and I'll try to recall where I saw them. Leuven/Lombaerdenstraat has 7.99 the others 9.99.

I wonder why Leuven central is lower than their Leuven satellite stores, competition must have a presence in the city I guess... But then that would be Bart Smit. Price matching Dreamland would be weird as Dreamland is a Colruyt store. :)
