I'm assuming one of you is responsible and investigations are underway - I will find you. ;)
Whoever it was, a great big giant thank you. It was very nice gesture and only regret that I can't thank you personally, yet!
You know, I'm so excited about this event. Things have been a bit crappy this year to be honest, and right now they're probably at their worst (without going into detail, because this isn't a 'poor little me' story). I've never taken part in any Secret Santa thing at work as my colleagues are lovely but they buy... rather random stuff... and I... don't know anything about what they really like (we're all at different offices around the country).
So, as Lego is one of the few passions I have outside my family, and this event is specifically Lego themed* I am not only confident that I'll get something I'll like (Lego) I know I can get something for my Santee that (if not perfect - I'm not a mind reader unfortunately) will be something they will like (which also happens to be Lego).
And all the chatter across the site is keeping me positive and happy (even if I worry that my Santee will be reading other threads and guess things - I think I'm being cautious enough though) and this is by far the nicest online community I've joined in... ever, really.
Sorry, got a bit sentimental there. Anyway, let's keep these updates going and I hope everyone gets something really lovely!
And as an update myself, I've got more on the way (yay Black Friday) and now I'm thinking about how to present the present (IYKWIM). When it all comes together, anyway...
* PS: This is a Lego Secret Santa, right? I've just looked at the rules on page 1 and it doesn't ACTUALLY state Lego must be the present! It's implied though, so that's ok :-)
It's always the little minor things like that that get me doubting and not the big questions of "will my recipient like my gift" or "have I got the recipient enough" strangely :o)
@MaffyD we do SS at work, luckily despite not being in the office much the person I got I know pretty well. I'm alos doing one with a mate at work called "not secret santa, just buy each other LEGO" Where we buy each other a surprise set with a £25 budget.
@TheOneVeyronian I think I might go with a mixture of real and forum name. I'm also nervous about getting it right for my recipient. I hoping that people will just like the effort everyone has gone to.
@TheOneVeyronian I think the forum name is handy, if the recipient then posts a picture of the card/presents he/she doesn't have to worry about giving his/her real name away. I know most people on here get to know each other at some point via trades or PM's but there are people who prefer to keep their real name hidden. But I know how you feel, about worrying about the little things, I think, is this wrapping paper nice or shall I pack things in one parcel?
With regards to @Legoboy present, it might not have been from this community and might be from the real Santa since I did not give his address to anyone - it's a great present though, so if it was someone on here, well done. However, don't let naughty @Legoboy give you any ideas of opening presents before Christmas day (or -eve if that is your tradition)!
I would second the use of the forum name on the tag/card/present. It will give them a smile as they realise where the unexpected package came from, and will inspire conversations as visitors come around pre-Christmas and have a nosey at the presents under the tree.
At least, that's what happens round our way with any unusually tagged items!
Maybe not the outer package though. Would get confusing in any house which might have lots of people eager to open any packages!
I also inwardly tutted at @Legoboy when he opened that present. He is quite naughty. I'll let him off though, I've seen photos of his feet. That sounds odd out of context. Which is fine by me.
Also, third delivery has arrived! It's all coming together...
Of course, if it doesn't all arrive, then what I have is practically useless, but let's not think about that!
Items are all now winding there way to me.
Looking forward to wrapping and posting off at last.
Yay! It's beginning to feel a lot like late November!
turned out out to be the LEGO Dimensions stuff I'd ordered from Amazon.de the day before. Hadn't forgotten I'd ordered it but wasn't expecting such a quick delivery!
Probably a good thing I don't have it here to rattle and tempt me!
I'm doing secret Santa at work so may be I'll get some secret Lego - everyone knows I love it! Plus I making some Lego Xmas decorations for my Secret Santa (although they will guess it's from me!!!!!). I'll post pictures soon.
But I agree, be careful what you say on here!
I'm shocked. ;)
On a lighter note have received all my orders for my recipient and will be getting them off in the post shortly.
I will send mine out three weeks ago, just need to finish building the temporal anomaly posting machine I've been working on. Built out of Lego, of course.
It already works on message board posts (I posted this to the forum on Christmas Eve) and will be easily converted to real post.
And now I've alerted myself in the past that this will work! Yay!
Oh yes, and I need to pick up a few bits from my parents when I'm there this weekend.
Are we still talking about Lego here? I'm getting quite confused! :-)
Or am I? ;->
Yes, yes I am. But that's normal for me anyway.
Then follow @SirBen's idea and see what I can sneak into the house...
