Just finished building my first of (hopefully) many UCS sets!

The UCS looks massive next to the original 2000 Slave 1!

Well, it's 10x the price, right?

@Recce where is the pink version? I'd like to see that!

It's kinda like a mashup of pinkish and reddish etc.

To celebrate Thanksgiving, I built the Hot Dog cart (hey, it's football day... it's related).  Happy Turkey Day!

Still moving, I hate limboland...the pros of moving less than 2 miles from your last house...kids don't switch schools, life surroundings don't change much, etc. Big, BIG con...moving is stretched out instead of compacted into a small window like when I've moved across multiple states.

I...sniff...miss building stuff. Seems all I'm doing lately is carrying things, dodging spiders and getting mouthfuls of dust.

    so. lego Status time.

well let see. i have a Pick a Brick Order. of 1 1x1 Brick that on order from [email protected] that is doing the round at Yodel as it go back and forth from the Hub to the wrong Local Depot it done the round trip 4 times at this point. it be nice if it end up in the right Depot this time.

Found the free £5 off code on the back of the Christmas catalog i got from Lego with my order that i plan to use. still have to get last years winter village set. even if it a remake of the older set i don't have the older one.

placed a order for #75150 (can type that set number of the top of my head right now.)

more set's have been pulled down. and are now in zip bags.

the display place for the  winter village is open and it only needs me to build it. (not going to be that big with me only having 2 sets from winter village and i hope to have a 3rd by the 20th of next month.)

it looks like i be using #40222 as a Lego Chrismas advent calendar this year. i was hoping to find one of the City advent calendars in Sainsbury's. but i never seen one in my store.
hell i even be happy with friends advent calendar at this point :/ .......

    in non-lego news.
picked up some new Christmas lights from homebase. the 240 light set. grate for going round the top of the room now my bedroom/lego room feels more chrismas like.
also got my Pokémon Sun and Moon. and am playing Moon. i think it cool that the day/night times are shifted 12 hours in Moon. in Pokémon Sun. the daylight time are the same as real world. it a lot of fun and feel even more real then X and Y or the Gen 3 remake. the 3d world is just way better. for a start. "your Mother Has a Bed room in her own House" still missing the bath room. but there is a building i poped in to (look like some type of town hall.) that did have a bath room. so there getting better at making it feel like a real world. and as i said it feels a lot more real this time.

Today, I purchased #10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van with free #40223 Snowglobe and a couple of days ago I separately ordered a second #7280 Straight & Crossroad Plates, as well as a load of B&P parts, including more 2x2 tiles, so that I can work on my LEGO modular street. That lot came with a free #5004420 Toy Soldier. :-)

The road plates turned up yesterday, so last night I did some rearranging of the street to add them in, built the basics of my street's park on a 32x32 green baseplate and also added the coffee kiosk from #60097 City Square with an additional #71004 Larry the Barista.

I'm now just waiting for the B&P order to turn up, so that I can continue building.

@snowhitie Happy name day! If I had known you celebrated that (I was not aware people in Belgium do?) I would have had Rok Kobe personalize your card a bit more than just with your name!

Thanks for the well-wishes. Most people don't celebrate a name-day in Belgium (or patron saint day, or feast-day) but every excuse for party ;)

I also bought the Ferris wheel to get the Snowglobe today, I really don't have the space for it but nevermind. I also got those lovely duplo ducks :)

Also starting to panic about getting my things together for the school Christmas fair next Friday. I'm going to do a guess how many in the jar and then I have a few polybags to sell. I want to make it fun too, has anyone else got any ideas? The money raised goes to helping keeping the cost down on school trips and other things.

Status - waiting for the snowglobes I ordered last night, along with some other sets.

Waiting for replacement axles for the Winter Train to arrive.

Went to ToysRUs, with vague hopes that they may have another Pet Shop on the shelves - no luck. Bought Spaceport using a £15 gift card, left with a £20 gift card. They know how to pull me back in.

Haven't started the Passenger Train yet, despite getting two more coaches from eBay. Sorted final Bricklink purchase prior to building all the MOC'd rolling stock. Looking forward to the Assembly Square in January.

@legonut80 I did guess how many bricks in a jar last year (although to keep costs down I did use an 'compatible with the leading brand' brand). If you (or the school) has a massive pile of bricks maybe do a what can you build out of 20 bricks competition or who can build something fastest. Or to be honest at my kids sch if you just charged them a quid for five minutes of lego time you'd make a fortune!

Amazed at how clever the mini toys are in 10249 and wondering how you insert a link to the set like all the clever people do.
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
@Salamalex you just add a hashtag in front of the number and @Huw's magic forum does it for you!
    #10249

Now you can look clever too ;)

Good luck with the fair @legonut80 !

I have an old box of duplo in the loft that we could do build the biggest tower in 1 minute. Think I'll get the children to do test runs this weekend to see how crazy it would be. Just need prizes now, not sure if my sealed toy story sets would be any good for it? I was thinking more of current sets or brick boxes but I've not had any of those crazy 75% off deals in a while. I've got a few older sets I can part with but I'm just not sure if they are good enough for prizes.

@legonut80 if you can get a load of minifig packs and small stuff like mixels the kids will be quite happy. Don't always need to go to big. Kids love tiny clutter.

^agreed, prizes don't have to be expensive or expensive, kids are just happy to win something. The book people have some great deals on Lego book collections which might be handy

@legonut - if you have some trains you could set them up and charge them to have a go. Speed build with a prize - also charge to have ago.

Overspent (I think I need a second job), waiting for sales to be over, and ready to start building the #10218 Pet Shop I got a few weeks back when Walmart had it for $116.98 (yeah, two cents cheaper than right now, go figure)...

Also, waiting for my #10697 order to arrive (only one), and for Thursday to come by so that I can pick the other two I ordered online.
  • legonut80legonut80 Member Posts: 314
Yes thanks everyone :) I do have some spare Lego books that I was thinking of taking. It wasn't so much as having a big set as a prize but if the ones that I have got are ok to use as they are a few years old now. I'm sure it will be fine and I'm probably over thinking about it. I'm also thinking of charging 50p to enter each one what do you think?

My 2 year old who is just starting to talk a bit more has been telling me all about our day at the Lego city shop, where he built a big truck with daddy :)

Wishing Ionix would go bankrupt so Lego could go hard after that Pokemon license.

    Or...

Wishing someone more funner and cooler ran Nintendo so theyd work with Lego on super awesome team ups and collaborations.

the only thing I can think would be mixel type builds. but probably bigger to have more details. I guess more dragon-like builds actually.
don't know if there are any interesting structures in pokemon, don't recall there were any when I played, in the days of the gameboy color... but most likely it would be based on the show.

Okay, I don't do computer games, but used to.

Have spent 6 hours on and off this afternoon working out LEGO Dimensions and installing the Ghostbusters Story Pack.  I don't think I'm thick but Christ that was long winded. A total of 5 gig download before playing the game, but how was I to know that?

Having downloaded it all I couldn't work out how to get into the Ghostbusters game.  At five past midnight we finally made it.  Just before, "Time for bed now Sam.  Football in the morning. "DAAAAAAD!"  He's got a point.

@Legopassion8, while I'd like to see Nintendo drop Kreo & work with Lego, no thanks, not interested in seeing Nintendo itself change, 1,000% happy with Nintendo just the way it is. They are the most innovative & fun video games company around, just look at their latest product the Nintendo Switch, it takes the ideas from the Wii & Wii U to the level beyond the next level...

    (K'Nex, rather.)

Nintendo is smart to license out their IP.  The K'Nex product is terrible, but there are much lower expectations.

I would imagine that a Nintendo/Lego licensing agreement would probably be akin to the Scooby-Doo or Angry Birds line.  Sell a bunch on a short run, and hope they do all of the relevant characters.

    Oh, to dream...

The fruits of this afternoon's labours. Zillions of fiddly thumb-destroying wedges, but I'm enjoying it so far :-)

Got to take a break now though coz we're off to the flicks to see Fantastic Beasts, dubbed into German unfortunately :-S
