enhancement request - show set name on hyperlinks

datsunrobbiedatsunrobbie Member Posts: 1,817
One of the features I really like on the forum is the links to Brickset.com that come up when a hashtag is used with a set number, like #10188. I noticed that the hovering over the text displays a link to the Brickset page it links to. Would it be possible to display the name of the set as well? Maybe it is just that I'm old, but I often end up with half a dozen windows opened up so I can keep track of what sets are being referenced in posts. Some of these conversations would be much easier for me to follow if the names of the sets appeared in conjunction with the set numbers.

I agree. Some of the highly discussed ones I can remember (like #10179 for the UCS Millennium Falcon) but it's hard to keep track of lots of smaller sets. It gets even more confusing when people put in the wrong number without putting the set name.

I just use Brick Tip - A Chrome extension which does the same sort of thing

Thanks, I had no idea that plugin existed. Just installed it and tried a couple pages, it is a big help!

At the moment the javascript that turns the likes of #6876 into a hyperlink can do so without much effort, but to add the set name would require a database lookup, for every link on the page and possibly for everyone who viewed it which is obviously impractical.

    Bricktip is the ideal solution!

BrickTip looks neat, is there anything similar for Firefox?

I think there's a Peeron Firefox extension which does something similar.

Thanks, I took a look and the Peeron database is a bit out of date, so that limits its usefulness.
