Someone has put an image of http://brickset.com/sets/40234-1 the Chinese New Year set on instagram, claiming it was bought in the store. Has anyone else seen it there? I certainly didn't see it yesterday!

^I'm also receiving reports the Rooster is now in store also.  :/

Yes it's available for £10, the queue to pay is taking about an hour!

So annoying about the Rooster. Would have bought one yesterday if it was there :(

If a kindly Bricksetter currently in store or who will be in the store later picks up a spare I would gladly purchase it off you :-)

Arrived at 8, had a lovely time in the queue and even got a polybag because the till broke down just as it was my turn. 10/10 would queue again. No Lester, but I did score a Pet Store.

I went along to the unveiling, but didn't queue to get in.  I wasn't able to get there early enough for that.  But wow, there were a LOT of people queuing!
I'd like to return to get the Lego Store mini modular, but I doubt it'll hang around beyond today if that many people were queueing.
The new store looks fantastic, though.  And I enjoyed Jamie's "facebook Live" tour just before the store opened.
I know a couple of kids who are going to *love* the tube train when they see it.

Anyone got a part number for Lester to find him easier on eBay? Or is "Lego Lester" going to help me find it easy enough? Currently none for sale.

Nope, not jealous of British Bricksetters at all. Why would I be jealous? No reason to be jealous...

    Oh, who am I kidding!

I did wonder whether to stick it on eBay for £200 which would cover my costs today. However, I remember chatting to someone in the queue who said they had paid over £600 for Mr Gold which is less rare than Lester if it really is going to be limited to 275. How much demand for Lester there will be has yet to be seen. I wondered whether I should stick it on eBay for £1000 to get the ball rolling and see what interest it generates. I'm pretty sure someone else will stick there's on for less. On the other hand, I typically spend £500-£1000 per month on LEGO anyway so maybe I would regret it if I sold it, even for £1000!

I still wish they had produced it in bigger numbers and gave it out to everyone who spent the time queuing to attend their grand opening. It's a nice memento, and now I can't open mine since it's too valuable!!!

Just got back from the store opening. Got there just before 12 and got in at half three. Due to pdq problems it took ages to let the second load of people in but once we finally got in it was busy but not too hectic. Picked up Xmas train and yellow submarine plus a few other little bits and bobs. Nice chatting to people in the queues but didn't get a lester fig. A fun day out.

Just been looking on Twitter under #LegoStoreLondon, there's a cool mannequin challenge video in the store,  plus apparently Sadiq Khan,  Johnny Vegas and Dominic Wood (of Dick n Dom fame) have all visited the store. Wonder if they got Lester or the Parrot poly....?

Who knows, they might make more Lesters if he remains popular, and not put them in exclusive / numbered packaging.

If not, I'll probably wait for Rester, the Chinese knockoff.

Don't sell it. You will definitely regret it
There is a Lester minifigure on eBay now, currently £570, UK post only. 23h left.

Brickset should create a Lester Register!

I'm sorry but as much as Lester is cute anyone who would spend those amounts of money on him is a little bit crazy.

London is full of millionaires and has plenty of billionaires! :)

I decided to list mine on eBay at a price that would get me something I would love to have, the #10179 "Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon"! Last time I saw it being sold on eBay, it went for around £3500, so that's what I've listed my LESTER for!! I'm not really expecting it to be sold. Of course, I wasn't expecting to get a LESTER today either :)

Now with my LESTER listed, all of the others look pretty cheap! :)

Yes there are lots of millionaires and billionaires out there - lucky them. And as I am hoping to sell off some of my stars wars stuff so I can buy more of what I like now, I can't criticise anyone for putting Lester on eBay... but.. Ok, I'm running out of an argument. Maybe I'm just jealous that I'm not a millionaire!!

Just got back from the store and am pretty miffed to be honest.  Got to the till to be told they'd already run out of the Lego Store set, (I was there at 8:00pm roughly).  Now, yes I realise like any other promotion the Terms & Conditions say "while stocks last" but frankly for Lego to run out on day one of a promotion that their sites says lasts for 4 days is a pretty poor show.  Given the extremely short odds of getting a Lester, the only reason I made the trek (in appalling traffic I might add) to the store was to get the "Lego Store" promo set.  But as it was I should have saved time & money and ordered from Lego online instead.

Sorry for the rant, but I'm a little irked and I wanted to share :)  Also, I suppose it's a warning that if you're making a long trek to store just for the promo set you might well be disappointed assuming there's no new stock to come which was the impression I got.

You don't happen to be selling a sealed #10179 Millennium Falcon by any chance? Of course, I haven't had any interest shown in my LESTER yet so my budget is somewhat limited! :)

I wonder how many millionaires are interested in LEGO? When you have bags of cash, you are probably too busy doing other things to get hooked on LEGO as an adult.

    Sorry to hear that :(

The staff I spoke to at around 1:15pm were confident that they would last the weekend so volume of sales over £125 must have surprised them. Still, it's not an excuse, they should have overstocked and returned what was left to their warehouse for the next opening.

If you really want the set, there are plenty of sellers on eBay at present, selling for £60.

Yeah, it's that they ran out on day 1, albeit late in the day, that so irked me, it really does seem like poor forecasting to say the least.  I'll be curious to know if they are going to restock...

I think I'll give eBay a miss - giving someone else profit on my missing freebie or possibly 3x return on a set they purchased is a little too much like rubbing salt in the wound!  :(

Feeling slightly sorry now that I didn't check the forum while in the store, otherwise I would have grabbed more than 2 Roosters to be able to share with fellow Bricksetters...

Store staff did however indicate that it's not just a temporarily offer that this set is available in the store, so should not be difficult to pick one up yourself later/have somebody pick it up for you. So definitely an improvement over previous years' Chinese New Year sets.

Thanks for the heads up.  I was thinking about returning to the store this morning in the hope that the #40145 mini-modular would still be available.

I heard on here that they were only allowing 1 per customer anyway.  Or did you get 2 already?  Either way, it's good to hear that it's on general sale, though.  It might still be there when I visit in the next few days/week.  I'm not so interested in it compared to the mini-modular, so won't be so gutted if it's gone.

@SeanTheCollector sorry I don't have that one. Mine is mostly the early stuff, no boxes, bits missing etc.

The queues to get in do make you wonder why Lego feel the need to have offers associated with this particular store opening. The new store itself might have been enough in this instance. I wonder what the sales were like yesterday at the two Westfield stores - maybe they could have been able to have the same offers and spread the demand a bit.

Next time they do a survey, let them know.

Although once they started posting the odds of getting a Lester, I think it was fairly obvious it was going to be more about the experience of going on opening day than for the LEGO items. It made me stay away (I was going to be travelling through London anyway and could have done it yesterday).

Interesting point above. I wonder whether numbers would be that different if they offered absolutely nothing as a promo on an opening day.

I think it will be which of the other two stores will close? Or maybe both of them, and Leicester Square will be the single Lego store in London.

I'm not sure I would have made the effort to go yesterday if it were not for the offers. I'd have probably waited until some other time to go. I wonder how many other there yesterday would have done the same?

I would have thought the central store would do better from tourists. Stratford always seems to have plenty of customers who would be there for the other shops anyway. I don't go to the other Westfield very often but now that they have Kidzania over there it can't be short of families visiting.

I'll try to get to the Leicester Square store next week just because I'd like to see it. After that I imagine that I'll just use Stratford again. Is there a PAB wall that offers anything different to the other stores?
