Didn't that batcave just come out? It feels like it's still new to me.

The Helicarrier never really made sense to me. The ship is iconic in the MCU and the comics, but I don't think it's quite as recognizable as stuff like the GB firehouse or any of the Star Wars UCS sets. It's a hard sell at such a high price and I highly doubt we will ever see a repeat once it's gone.

I wouldn't mind having one, personally, but that's mainly because it looks like a fun and challenging build.

@Farmer_John I believe the Helicarrier in Deadpool was supposed to be the wreckage of one...although not an official one from the MCU because the movie takes place in an alternate universe.

Or does it? With all the fourth wall breaking, who can tell? Ah, f###### it.

I agree the Helicarrier is unlikely to remain long into 2017. Thankfully I picked one up from a LEGO store last Saturday. Very happy with the purchase although I haven't built it yet.

The only other vehicle I could think of from Marvel would be an incredibly detailed Quinjet, but I'm not sure that would approach the $300+ mark.
I would drop $200 on a UCS Milano
That was the one other vehicle that came to mind, but I felt like a Quinjet would appeal to a larger audience as it has featured in more films.

Although I also think the Milano is the much better vehicle.

That's what everyone said about the UCS Tumbler when it went EOL.  ;-)

The tumbler retired just at the point where I thought I should start buying one per month to stockpile.

^Me too, but I only picked up a couple. Along with the #10210 Imperial Flagship, the UCS Tumbler was one of the two sets that I didn't flinch at the idea of stockpiling.

Amongst Marvel vehicles, the Helicarrier would have to be one of the most iconic, but the MCU one looks so different from the one in the comics, so they could do one based on the comics.

Of course there are other things that could potential be done UCS style for Marvel, Galactus' World Ship, the Collector's Museum Ship, Tony Stark's Hulkbuster, the Cube, the Sanctum Sanctorum, the Avengers Mansion, Stark Tower, the Baxter Building and Xavier's Mansion.
  • monkeyhangermonkeyhanger Member Posts: 3,169
For me, the most iconic Superheroes vehicle in the Marvel Universe is the X-Men's Blackbird.

I'm sorry. You're all wrong. The correct answer was Spider-Mobile. Spider-Mobile.

Regarding a potential successor to the Helicarrier, it's probably worth considering that not all D2C sets have to be vehicles. An iconic location like the Avengers tower would also be a very possible candidate.

@monkeyhanger, which version? It's like the Quinjet or the Fantasticar, there are several variants through out the run of the comics, then there's movie versions too.

@lordzarak, No, just NOOO!!! Don't bring it up, if TLG sees that, they may just do it as the next UCS & who wants that....not me, that's for sure.

Why not. It will sit really well in Spider-Man's Lair next to this....

@bandit778 while I get every Marvel Lego set TLG releases, I'd prefer not to be adding to Spider-Man's collection of pointless vehicles. Unlike Batman, Spider-Man has a pretty effective primary method of transportation via his web-slinging, so he doesn't need a chopper, a jet, a boat, etc, etc... Even as a child, I saw the garage full of Spider-vehicles that toy makers created for webhead as a bit of a waste.

@SumoLego, they've done one in Duplo, along with a Spider-Truck, Anthony loves them, he thinks they're awesome, but he is only two years old... :)

What about if Spider man needs to get around or fight in a town or city with no skyscrapers? His mode of transport (web) is no use without something to swing from...

@SumoLego then you'll need a Spider-X-Wing too, what if they manage to get off world.

@msanders, no skyscrapers? That's why S.H.I.E.L.D really has a Helicarrier, Spidey can just hang off it with a web & they fly him around, what did you think they have that thing for? Covert operations? No, it's original codename was going to be Spider-Transport 01.

Actually a Spider-Man "Saves the School Bus" set would be a great one. Surround it with a couple of shell building fronts, include about 6 webs, 5 or 6 "mini kids" - and you're good to go.

On topic post again (What, me again? Terribly sorry!):

Retiring Soon tags now also on [email protected] US. In addition to the sets that already received this tag on [email protected] EU a couple of weeks ago, #10244 Fairground Mixer and #21305 Maze now also tagged as Retiring Soon on [email protected] US. No such tag for these 2 sets in Europe yet.

Several non-UCS Star Wars sets now also have the Retiring Soon tag on [email protected] US:
No such tags for these sets on [email protected] EU, however #75087 is Out of Stock now since the end of September (I think) with C2C status.

Looks like I'll miss the mixer. I wanted one, and the power functions to go with it, but I'm not sure it's a huge loss.

I'm surprised about the maze though. I'm going to have to scramble to find a way to get that one.

I just will say this to anyone in the US, I think BF and Cyber Monday are going to have a lot of sales on LEGO sets (specifically between Amazon, Target, and Walmart).. Just a gut feeling, but it seems like a lot more LEGO has been put on sale throughout the year so far than last year (and for deeper discounts than last year).

Truth be told I often forget that X-Men is a Marvel property. The last X-Men set appears to have been released in 2014, although they are getting a Wolverine vs. Magneto Mighty Micro set next year.

I like the X-Men Blackbird, but I personally don't know if I'd be willing to spend $200+ on a detailed one.

Being naughty and posting something on-topic here again:

Lots of Retiring Soon tags have appeared on [email protected] EU, covering most themes, including Star Wars, Super Heroes, Friends, Disney Princess, City and Creator. Not very familiar with Nexo Knights, but most of the first wave seems to get the boot.

    Some sets included:
I was rather surprised to also see the Retiring Soon tag on #75150 Vader's TIE Advanced vs A-Wing Starfighter, as this set was part of this summer's Star Wars wave...

  • SithLord196SithLord196 Member Posts: 1,161
I don't think #75150 is selling well. To me it looks like two $30 sets thrown into a combo pack for $90, and I've seen pretty good stocks of it at my local stores.

It is also based on Rebels which I feel gives it a smaller appeal than the sets based on the movies.

Somebody at TLG likes that Retiring Soon tag; it's now already slapped on 279 sets. ([email protected] EU) Including the #10254 Winter Holiday Train? Wondering whether that's because these winter village sets "retire" after Christmas and then come back prior to the next Christmas? However it's also on #10245 Santa's Workshop, but not on #10249 Winter Toy Shop...

    Other notable additions:
    • all Scooby-Doo sets
    • all Friends Pop Star sets
    • #42030 Remote Controlled VOLVO L350F Wheel Loader
    • #75094 Imperial Shuttle Tydirium
    • #75096 Sith Infiltrator
    • #76035 Jokerland
    • all prior wave Star Wars buildable figures

^ just had a look through the list in EU it's about 17 pages and some sets (quite a few) were released at the beginning of this year
  • HuaojozuHuaojozu Member Posts: 10
Not only that, some sets (such as the Summer 2016 Bionicle Wave) have only been out for a few months!
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
TLG announced in back in July that 2016 was the final year for the Bionicle theme, so those sets retiring is not a surprise.
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
Those 279 sets also include all remaining Jurassic World sets, but I guess that's not a surprise.
  • Pate5346Pate5346 Member Posts: 889
^ yes some are due to retire ( JW, SD, SW, etc ) but some are surprising.
On the other end I guess with so many sets coming out next year they need to make space for production.
Just curious what new year sales are going to be like.
