Go on, you know you want to ;) As already stated here earlier, self-control is for people who hate Lego :)

am I the first to criticize nexo knights hover horses? I struggled to fit a minifig on one, with hands on handlebars
It's definitely not just you - they look great, but I sometimes think the parts are in tension when you finally manage to get a minifig on board with hands on handlebars. Lots of twisting of both hands and handlebars to get there...

<Picks up a hover horse to examine it, drops it, and inadvertently fires a projectile clear across the room where it lands, according to the various bouncing sounds, somewhere inaccessible behind the TV.>

Current status: I got my pitchforks from Bricklink!!

Status today - ripping old cds from magazines so I can get shot of the discs to charity and free up shelf space for lego displays instead.

So my current status is wondering where in the hell I am going to put #75827 now it's arrived and even more so when it's built!
Also questioning my sanity and level of addiction since there are 10 unbuilt sets now in my room. I don't know when I'm going to get time to build those and a separate Christmas display MOC I planned to do

Ripping as in copying to a device. Getting shot as in get rid of and give to charity. The rest I'm sure you can figure out.

Feeling pretty happy today. Went and bought my Xmas present, the creator corner deli. Although feeling sad because it will be packed away for two months. Then played the always exciting once a month game called 'which section has WHSmith put blocks mag in this month'!

I have the same dilemma...but then I realize that, I have lots of sets to build, and that I do not have the space to put it...although those minifigures look good...

Welcome to the club! I have 90+ unopened sets waiting to be built (not for resell). They range from City starter sets all the way up to the Death Star, Ghostbusters Headquarters and Disney Castle.

Good luck. The 2 Wal-Mart's I frequent never seem to have much on clearance - or maybe just not anything I want. All the great buys people talked about couple months ago were nowhere to be found.

Also, my mother tells me we are having a cold front so I hope you brought a jacket!

No jacket, but I should be fine; I am very cold-tolerant ;-D

I'm on Katy visiting my parents (it's my mother's birthday next week). I will need at least some Mixels to keep my building-fixed :-O

@MegtheCat @JooTog Based on my experience here in the Rio Grande Valley, the stores near the lower income areas usually tend to have more stuff on clearance.

Just finished disassembling, inventorising, bagging and boxing #7093 Skeleton Tower ready to be sold/traded. Really nice set (great dragon). It's been on display for a couple of years down in the man-cave but I need the shelf space for other sets waiting to be built, so it's time to get rid :-(

Dusting off my display; I feel bad about having my collection literally gather dust.
Vacuumed up pieces 3 times and had to dig them out of the vacuum bag.
Putting some sets in storage as a change of pace in general and to make room for Brick Bank. Partially disassembled, bagged, labeled, put in regular box.

Digging Lego city vehicles out of a storage crate and reuniting them with the loose components that have fallen off. Also tidying and reorganizing Lego storage and display in the garage.

Just had to do an unexpected clear out of my Lego storage space. The wife is aware I have about 50% of it, the kids cant see it, no other storage space and I had about 5 mins to hide them!

needless to say I may be in trouble when I get home :(

on the plus side the gas man turned up before I left, if the wife had to clear out the space I would definatly be in big trouble.

Borrowed sewing machine turned out not to have a threaded spool, so my partner's solution was to grab the Technic and make a spool threader:

Tragically, it was rendered irrelevant when the borrowed machine expired in a puff of smoke and a whiff of burning plastic - turned out the owner had herself been given it by someone else, and hadn't yet used it, so nobody realised that the motor was just waiting to burn out the moment anyone plugged it in and used the pedal... I guess there are some things even Lego can't fix!
I remember building something just like that from Technic in the mid 80s, it was a design from one of the books or off the back of a box. Seem to recall it being all yellow beams

i feel the need to Nick pick here, (WOW what a shock).
what you have there in that image is what Lego call... well "Lego" Now.
or as i call it Old Technic. as what lego sale as Technic today has almost no Stud's.
    it's all Technic pins now..
and the old Technic or Technic brick if you like. can be seen more in the normal Lego set's. normally in any star wars ship set. acting as the back bone of the main ship frame.
if you gave that to most kid's (who's mom or dad is not a AFoL) and said this is Technic that Kid would say "no it's a Lego brick" and hold up a Technic beam and say "this is Technic."

    *steps down off the soapbox.*
ok i feel better now i have had my What can you call Technic rant.
*wonders off thinking what will we call Technic in 10 years time.*

It's the Technic we both grew up with! :P I do find it interesting that it's migrated into so many Lego sets, though - I think the last four or five ordinary Lego sets I've built have included studded beams and Technic pins...

Well either the wife didn't notice the massive pile of boxed sets in our room or she didn't care, I wasn't going to ask which! Everything away now but did a quick mental count on current value, not massive but easily 100% profit to be made. I cant see me ever having a lotr display but cant bring myself to part with them.

Think about it like reinforced concrete - both steel and concrete are strong; put them together and you get something in a different league to either.

so in Lego what is the Steel and what is the concrete ?
  • nexandernexander Member Posts: 908
Lego = concrete, strong in compression, weak in tension/torque. Technic pins reduce that weakness.

Build yourself a "fishing rod". If you make it out of bricks topped and bottomed by plates, it'll snap. If you make it out of Technic beams, it'll snap sideways. If, on the other hand, you make it out of Technic bricks, topped and bottomed by plates, you can go fishing. The weaknesses of each method are countered by the other.

The Saturn V might be interesting.

Twist it from side-to-side, and the plates will eventually pop off. It requires another layer of reinforcement of technic and technic-stud beams to make it nearly indestructible. ;)

Add a layer of Kragle between everything, and the parts will break before the connections...

Own and have built Mystery Machine. Own, but haven't built Mystery Mansion. Decided to build Mystery Mansion and throw in CMFs from S14 as a display for my sons for Halloween.

LEGO side of brain immediately said "we really should buy the other Scooby sets."
Logic side of brain said "we already have the whole gain, we don't need those other sets."
LEGO side: "we should just check the prices, you know, just in case."
Logic side: "okay, but remember, we don't need them."
    LEGO side: "ooh, look, sale."
Logic side: "well, it's hard to argue with that."

    I hate them both.
You sound like me with Frozen sets. I have Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle and Anna & Kristoff's Sleigh Adventure, so I technically have the full cast. But I'm still tempted by all the other sets on sale dammit.
