My first thought was The Great Gatsby.

Over the past week I did:

    - Lepin Green Grocer (my only non-LEGO set)
    - Anna and Kristoff's Sleigh Adventure
    - Friends Hot Dog Van

Currently building the Brick Bank, which I'm trying to do slowly (but failing). Also have Fun in the Park, Fountain, the small Easter set, and Big Ben lined up to go.

I'm going to build #10251 , Brick Bank, as soon as I get it in the mail.

    @TheFew
    Forum tip:
put a # before a set number without -1 or any punctuation immediately afterwards and Brickset inserts a link to its own page for that set.

Thanks for the tip. My first post was on a computer which has functionality locked down, so it would not even allow me to insert carriagw returns! I will ensure my posts are more reader friendly in the futute.

@MaffyD @TheOriginalSimonB Nope! I thought I'd be able to show it soon but ran out of black bricks, so it will take a while until I can finish it :(

Just received the last part for my next build... any guesses as to what it will be?

Correct. The wheels and tan base plates give it away.

Just started this 6180 Hydro Search Sub that I finished cleaning a short while ago. Need to find a few parts as I go but I do have them (the chrome pieces especially). This is the first pre-year 2000 set I've built since I started getting back into the hobby. It's interesting to me to see how much has changed since then. When I get more scratch I want to get some stuff that's older and check it out to compare first hand.

I thought they didn't look as good as the very first aquazone models. though the ray manta sub looked pretty cool.
    nice trans-green pieces still.

My son is cycling thru playing with different themes, a few weeks back he was into Western so I built most of those sets. I BL'ed Fort Legoredo a year or so ago & built #6755 #6761 & #6765. He says next month is Castle.

Now he's into the Dinosaur theme- last Xmas he got Indominus Rex Breakout, so I made #5882 #5883 & #5885 from collection. It's fun when you have so much LEGO you can build just about any set out there! The color schemes dont match of course but he's not picky :).

I'm torn on the line. Some pieces look very aquatic, others don't...this does not so much. But I was mainly after the translucent pieces, the figs and the building exp. And I got it super cheap so it helps. The magnetic attachments in this from large sub to mini sub surprised me. Was not expecting that when I bought it. Not very LEGO-y based on my limited experience with LEGO. Interesting how vast the parts inventory is...

Just finished this! Loved the interesting ways they made the shape. My first car was a '71 super beetle. It was primer blue with various rust spots, I could possibly mix in some dark orange or dark flesh pieces to re-create this. Sadly lego does not have a primer blue color;)

Brick Bank in the mail Friday! I actually started building it the same evening instead of procrastinating with LEGO acquisitions like usual. ;)
I'm very impressed in a lot of ways.
I finished the #1 bags so I wouldn't leave loose pieces lying around, but now it's getting late, so I'll talk more about it later. It might be rainy tomorrow, so I might stay in and do LEGO stuff.

It's re-building for me!  Time to rotate out some displays so I've just rebuilt the Mini-Modulars and am going to start on Parisian Restaurant.  I've just done the small Halloween and Thanksgiving seasonal sets as well.

I really love that mini modulars set, I'm thinking of trying to MOC the newer modulars in mini form.

Halfway through a mosaic, the largest I've done so far. I think I'll run out of black...

Can you guess what it will be?
    Catwoman?

So my theme-jumping son has done so again, sooner than usual (or wanted by me) & commissioned me to build #4990 Rock Raiders HQ. I did it a few years back, & somehow thought it was a difficult build, so I told him today it'd take a few days. But it was actually easy & I finished in no time. It's basically 4 or 5 mini-builds (plus a couple vehicles) together on a unique baseplate.

Started the #2 bags of Brick Bank. Did a lot of other stuff today so I put the remaining parts in a ziploc bag for later.

Trying my first MOC attempt for the monthly build.  I don't have a lot of pieces built up yet, so the plan keeps needing to be adjusted.  I think in the end, it will at least give everyone something to laugh at....even if the theme is spooky.  I doubt I will be able to load it onto the page anyway, but I will give it a try.  :-)

Me too. That playmat is great

I bought the playmat in Poland, www.playmats.eu/ They also have a very nice cobblestone playmat (actually it is on the backside of the above) which could be used for old cities.

Is a Work In Progress picture appropriate? I'm torn between showing people just how fun/challenging/surprising the build process is so they know whether they would like it themselves, and spoiling it for those who have the set and want to keep it a surprise as they build. The Ferrari has a few such moments.

And also, sorry for the image size - I really did think I'd resized it!

Opinions welcome, and no, I haven't finished it yet.

  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,679
@MaffyD I think that was my most complex build so far. they are time when you are wondering why the hell you built something only to have your answer a dozens steps later.

Hmm... Finding the spoiler function hard to do properly on mobile. It'll have to wait until I'm in front of a computer... How dull.

Which playmat in particular did you get? I'm having trouble finding the one that looks like yours.

    Is it this: http://www.playmats.eu/36-x-36-/140-treasure-island-36x36.html

Though I'm also rather tempted by these:
