The good thing about all these "bad" choice purchases is that at the end of the day you can always sell whatever you dont want - even if you opened and built the set - albeit, you might take a bit of a hit on the resale plus have to go through the hassle of mailing a set to someone, etc, etc, but there are options "to get out" from under those sets you no longer want or desire.

I very rarely regret purchases but one that I did end up regretting was 9457 Fangpyre Wrecking Ball. I had the choice between getting both the Rattlecopter and the Fangpyre Mech to get the figs I wanted or getting the Wrecking Ball, and I opted for the latter, only to discover that compared to other Ninjago sets, it had scarcely any more features than your typical Lego City crane and the snake face, the only really unique feature of it, was mostly a repeat of that in the more interesting Fangpyre Truck Ambush. I did end up getting the Rattlecopter later, which was a far more impressive set, but I never did get my hands on the wonderfully quirky Fangpyre Mech.

I don't really mind when Lego brings out a new, better version of a set I already have.
In this particular case however I bought #4480 when I came out of my DA, with #9516 also available to buy. I bought #4480 because it was cheaper; I should have just bought another set in that price bracket I did actually like instead. Especially as I did end up buying #9516 anyway.

Well there's nothing to be done with the Bionicles, owing to incompatibility - they're in a storage bin, separate from the Lego so they don't get in the way when I'm looking for parts - but anything else, rebuild 'em until I like 'em. The best recent example would be #76055 Killer Croc's Mounting Sense Of Futility, which I can't rightly say I regret that since I knew what I was buying; left in its original state though (or rather, taken apart and put in the bits boxes) I'd be less than gratified at how much I'd paid just to get the minifigures, but having used the vehicle parts to build rather a spiffy Bat-stealth-boat, I'm quite content now.

Mine become spare parts. I don't sell them or get rid of them; I simply dump them in the parts pile.

Overall, I don't necessarily regret any of them because there was some distinct reason I wanted the set in the first place. The issue is, more often than not, it's because of a single minifig I could have just bought here in the Marketplace or on BrickLink. These days, with sets like that, I'll look for a sale and debate if the "bonus" pieces are worth paying the premium above what I could get the minifig for on its own. More often than not, it is. But there are some sets (I'm mostly looking at you Star Wars and Superheroes) that aren't the greatest parts packs for someone like myself that's typically looking for pieces to MOC buildings.

Bought two (Batman and Robin) when they came out thinking they were cute... I keep forgetting I have them and I am not planning on getting more.

You have no idea. Some of my remorse has become so extreme that it has developed it's own sentience and taken life beyond my own mind. That sentience also has remorse regarding SW sets.

Then again, I do like collecting different versions, so it's swings and roundabouts really. :-)

For me would be the Technic Volvo Wheel Loader. A few months after the purchase i realized i don't enjoy studless building that very much. So it is also still sealed, and in its original yellow store bag.

The idea of gears and movement and pneumatic function was really appealing. Like spepper, I didn't enjoy the studless building. A few years ago, I sold most of my Technic to buy a Death Star. I still have an #8436 Truck. I thought the pneumatic system was cool, but I'm not sure that I'll build it again.

I agree on Technic. I really loved the Limited Crawler #41999 design and I did enjoy driving it over stuff for awhile but overall I just didn't enjoy it as much as I do system sets so I ended up selling it.

I bought a Chima set (70009) at a flea market, just because there were no other Lego there. It was an opened box, instructions a bit mangled, first polybag opened but the rest still sealed. I got it for a bit less than the cheapest used set on BL. Checked the contents of the opened poly bag when I came home, it was complete, and then just put the box in a corner and there it's been sitting since then.

I have no interest in Chima at all so I do regret buying that set even though I didn't spend much on it.

Buying the original Mindstorms. After 8 1/2 years, I've barely used it. One of those few sets with a value that went down the toilet. …and to think I could've bought Cafe corner AND Market Street! *pulls hair out*

The only set that I can think of regretting having purchased with my own money is the Spinlyn's Cavern set from the early 2014 Chima wave. The Spinlyn minifigure itself looked and was awesome, but I felt that the rest of the set was just "meh".

The only sets I really "regret" buying are the ones having to do with SW Episode I...I think I bought them before the movie came out...before I had seen it / decided it was dreadful. I don't mind having the extra LEGO pieces, but I don't like that I financially supported a property that I have zero passion for.

On the other hand, I have plenty of NON-buyers remorse for OT sets that I never got ;)

I got a few Spinlyn sets on deep clearance just for the parts but yeah the set wasn't that great apart from her.

I'm still feeling burned because I ordered the two most recent story packs from S@H and before I even received them Amazon had them at 20% off--and now they're going for even less there, I notice. That was a *lot* of money thrown away, and really I should have guessed it would happen, given the big discounts eventually available for the earlier waves. I just didn't expect it to happen that quickly!

I own 4 of this set as it had a good selection of parts, plus 3 of them I bought during sales.

For me there isn't really any remose on specific sets as I can always use the parts. My only remose would be having bought way too many Lego sets in general.

The same thing happened when I finally bought the Portal Level Pack for Dimensions, after spending nearly $30 in a physical store I hear that that the same packs are being sold at eBay for $5.

I regretted buying the Simpsons House. Granted, I was collecting buildings, but that was one build process I never enjoyed, and I didn't quite like the end product either. It looks a little out of place with all the bright lurid colours in my Lego city.
