Clearing out unsold inventory I think. JW is finished. At least until the next movie that is.

JW sets? I don't think Jehovah's Witnesses would approve of LEGO.

Target is real inconsistent on where they put clearance. Sets in other parts of the stores may be shoppers who don't want something and get lazy. I can't search the whole store - I spend too much time in there as is.

^ It's a ton of fun to find Lego clearance items in sporting goods, the minifigures sidekick in the electronics department, those random polys in the checkout aisle, and the occasional three-series back CMFs tucked in the impulse section next to the beef jerky!

ah yes, the beef jerky mini-fig. A bit on the chewy side, but always a joy to find :)

Lego needs to put expiration dates on the Target polys.   :-)

It's funny you say that - but at my four local Targets, all of the remaining CMF S13, Chima polys and Imperial Shuttle polys disappeared over one weekend.  There is no way one person cleared them all out.

(Not that I wanted any of them - but they went somewhere!)
  • LegogramLegogram Member Posts: 321
@SumoLego  Target puts crates of discontinued and damaged merchandise up for sale.  My local Goodwill store buys them to sell in their stores.  That's how I got the new Service Station for $30.  The box was very crunched, but the seals were all intact.

I went to Target today, and surprise...they didn't have any of the "free" polys with a Lego purchase.  They did finally have about 6 or 7 Kylo Renn polys however.  I should have gone to the other Target, but I wanted to go to TRU for their sale.

Ran into Target for a few things and came across a #42055 Technic Bucket Wheel Loader on a end cap clearance shelve for $195.  Box was a little worn but no dents.  Wasn't sure if it was worth it, so I passed.  That was a first for me every seeing a high priced Lego bought online returned.

Also...Target has the Scooby Doo DVD w/minifigure on sale for $9.99. ($5 off).

  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,838
^--- Yeah, saw a Tumbler at a Target on an end cap but the box was pretty beat up (which may be why someone returned it). In any case it looked like it could have been opened so I passed.

    Just saw the promo signs.
Target website mentions Cupcake Stall ( #30396 ) and Volcano Jackhammer ( #30350 ) and says you need Friends/Elves/Disney Princess for the Friends promo and other srts for the City promo. Anyone know if that's true in store?
Will exactly $24.99 with redcard still get promo? I don't see why not.
Not sure what $24.99 and up item to buy. Leaning towards #70324 or #41124.
Can this be combined with price match to their website?
  • RakulRakul Member Posts: 183
^ I purchased a $19.99 Elves and $19.99 City, both where 20% off with Cartwheel and still got a free #30396.

I checked out the cartwheel deal for the week, its a bit odd since normally its off a line or subset, but this time its just one set from each of a handful of themes.  20% off the below sets:

    Creator Fast Car ( #31046)
    Minecraft The Iron Golem (#21123)
Ninjago Ninja Bike Chase ( #70600)
    City Ambulance Plan ( #60116)
Elves The Water Dragon Adventure ( # 41172)
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
The wording had sounded like a set of at least $24.99 rather than total of at least that much. I'll try that, changes what I might buy. And thanks for the Cartwheel reminder.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
Can you get both promos if you buy enough?
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
$29.99 Friends pricematched to their own website at $26.99, $24.99 Nexo Knights, both fully on redcard, got both promos

Where have your Targets been putting the promos?

I've seen them at one of the two I've been to this week and they were on an end cap in the toy section

When I checked out, an employee retrieved the promos from behind the service desk.

Tonight I saw them on an end cap, and now the website is also showing them as separate entries.
Tomorrow I'll ask if I can get 2 by buying $50 of smaller sets - this evening, service desk line was too long by the time I thought of asking ahead.
I might get sets 20% off with Cartwheel. #41172 is the only one I want personally, a minidoll I don't have yet and a few bricks. #70600 has the highest part out value followed by #21123 (then 41172). #60116 is a bit less and #31046 a lot less. Target.com has all nexo ultimates on sale, best deals are #70332 $6.99, #70330 $7.79, #70335 or #70334 $6.39.
#30350 is worth more than #30396, about $8 versus $4 on BrickLink, but will prices level out as more circulate?
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,355
There aren't many volcano polys left out and I just got 2 more. I was able to with $50 in smaller sets but the service desk worker had to put that in manually. #41172 and 2 #70600 with Cartwheel, #41112 pricematched to Target.com for $3.99.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 852
One of the Targets near me has 50-60 Volcano polys but no Friends polys.

I picked up #31052 from Walmart today; didn't know it was similarly priced at Target. When I originally saw the set, I knew I would get it eventually. That sale price made "eventually" a much shorter period of time.
  • RakulRakul Member Posts: 183
#31052 is $42.99 online at Target.com so even if your local shop still has it for regular price just order online for store pickup.

Can't complain. $43 for a $70 new set, and used a $50 Target gift card that I got for $40.

Nothing new in store - come to think of it, after past sales there hasn't been another one right away.

Amazon is also matching the $42.99 price on vacation getaways.

#41126 for $47.99 and #21126 for $34.99, all I see in store this week. Also a couple cases worth of CMF S16 but (some of) it might be stuff I've already gone through.
  • OnebricktoomanyOnebricktoomany Member Posts: 451
Ordered Ewok at the 219 price  Went in to pick up and box was damaged pretty bad.  Said I wanted to return it.  Offered 20% off.  Asked to verify contents.  Everything there!  So an additional 43.00 off plus 5% more for using red card!  Yea me!

Target is pretty great about tossing an extra 20% off for beat up boxes.  Everyone should try it.  Sometimes it doesn't even need manager approval, employees can just offer it on the spot.

I didn't know that. The other time I saw a set but decided not to ask since Walmart declined to give me an extra discount on an open box the other day.

^ Wal-Mart sucks even with manager involvement. They refused to honor a manufacturer coupon for $1.00 off because it only scanned for $.75. The manager wouldn't override it so they lost the entire sale.
  • OnebricktoomanyOnebricktoomany Member Posts: 451
My experience with walmarts near me has been 10% off damaged boxes.  That's usually the max but occasionally I've been lucky to come across a dept mgr willing to give more.  Last week a corner deli box was smashed on one end.  She clearanced it out on the spot to 16.49!

Thanks @Thoughtsonblocks!  My local Target had a few available for pickup.  Final price was $32.67, 54% off.  Not a bad deal at all on a newer set.

Picked up my order today.  They said there were a bunch of them waiting for pick-up.   Store price was $55.  What a great deal.
