    Hi Tommy

If I were you I'd sort out all the pieces first - this will take some time, but be quicker in the long run. Then just build them, making sure you note down any missing pieces. This way you know which sets are complete.

In the meantime, if wouldnt mind posting a list of the set numbers from the boxes/manuals you have, we can let you know if its worth bothering at all!
Having said that, if they're 30 years old, the answer is almost definitely 'yes', but you might get some early interest from people who might want to buy them.

Thank you for your reply and help at the moment i am still breaking down the bits and yes its a long job. If you look at the pic above and x that by 2 i think that you be some where close i honestly have not stoped for days now. I will try and get the numbers later and will list as many as i can. This really is a big job here is some pics of only 2 of the boxes out of about 10 big boxes and a pic of the constellation boat which i also have the box for and will be able to complete later.
    many thanks Tommy

i think it would be easy to say at the moment that if you think of the space sets from the late 70 to 80 i have all of them along with most of the train sets (not found all the boxes to the trains yet which indicates there is more in the loft ) i would add that yes i could do with the money at the moment but also there is a lot of memory here to and will be a shame to see it go after so many years

well there's certainly no lack of people on here looking for early space and early trains, and the trains in particular could be worth a fair bit.

I'm seeing a lot of boxes of things that people would be interested in - would love to see all of the 12V train stuff that you have...

    Welcome to Brickset Tommy :)

God some of those space sets bring back memories :0 must get up into the garage loft and dig them out (Adds another job to the ever increasing LEGO to do list)!!!!

    Hope you enjoy the site.

One other thing - I would recommend not being 'smoking' Tommy when you're sorting all the bricks, it's hideous to receive a bunch of second hand bricks smelling of smoke.

2 train boxes just turned up 7730 and 7740 , as to the smoking hehe that name has stuck with me for ages , it comes from when i used to play computer games with my dad and i would always win and he would say to my mum he smoked me again , hence the name smokingtommy , i no longer smoke :)

I definitely think you should build them.
My dastardly plan is that you'll build them, and like it so much that we'll have another convert :)
Personally though, I'd sell them for a small fortune and buy some modulars and PF trains :)

(edit - I say 'small fortune' - thats just a guess! need the numbers first, but its likely.

Wow, this is like being that bloke off antiques roadshow. Can I be the weird one? Quentin isnt it?
