Guys, I'm talking about the #7075 ship here.  Apparently there are two in this lot!

Yeah...any system sized pirate ship is okay in my book (some better than others of course.)

This...I don't even know what this is...

I much prefer 70413-1: The Brick Bounty to the #7075 but it's still a nice find. I would love to find a 4195-1: Queen Anne's Revenge cheap someday.

Oh wow #7075 is ugly. It's the Market Street of pirate ships.

How do you mess up a pirate ship so badly? I've always thought the pirate ships dating back to the late 80s always held up fairly well over time but I had never seen that monstrosity before.

#3843 Ramses Pyramid & #3841 Minotaurus for £7 (car boot sale). Ramses is complete, Minotaurus is missing a handful of basic parts but the microfigs etc are all there.

I picked up my first modular, the Detective's Office (10246) for $100 brand new off Craigslist. I know it's a great deal, so I'm debating whether to build or sell.

Well unless you plan on holding it until it retires and then holding it even longer after that you don't have much room to profit. Build it.

Well, first at least open it to make sure you weren't ripped off. Then build it because the modular buildings are great.

Maybe not the best find, but I saw #60095 Deep Sea Exploration Vessel at the Walmart closest to me a few days back. Today I had the money to get it, so I grabbed it. The tag said $59 (which is still about $20+ cheaper than Amazon), so just to make sure, I went to the price checker and realized it was $30!

To be fair, the box is beaten up, but I am planning on building it soon...the question is, how to display it.

I think I might win this.  Our find finally motivated me for my first post: This summer I picked up a brand new Grand Carousel for $25 at a yard sale.  A major moral dilemma to resell or not, but we opted to keep it and I let my 8 year old son build it.  It now sits proudly on his lego shelf.
I think you just won everything forever.

Just picked up a box of around 60lbs of Legos (plus the various Knex or Megablok piece) from a local ad. I've found some Spongebob pieces, some Orcs and Uruk-Hai, and some pieces and figures I've never seen before. The odd thing is that while the set wasn't anywhere in the lot, it did include the instructions for Ghostbusters Firehouse HQ. I've already run 4 loads through the wash in a pillowcase, with more to go. I'll post pics later.

Of course, there is the factor that I never have just $400 lying around to spare... The only reason I got the above deal is because it was my birthday last week.

I found the polybagged Kylo Ren Shuttle #30279 at Target. It was in the checkout lanes along with the Captain America Motorcycle #30447. $3.49. I got one of the shuttles at Gamestop with the purchase of Lego The Force Awakens. One of my sons REALLY wanted the shuttle. I almost bought one off ebay. I bought 2 today, one for each of my sons.

Honest question for the forums more veteran members:  Does this beat the Taj Mahal score from way earlier in the thread?  Taj Mahal has higher value, but that was retail.  If I'm understanding this post, Bricksutah found sealed Grand Carousel for $25.  I feel like some math is needed here to crown a true winner, but it's gonna involve some time value calculations...
  • bricksutahbricksutah UtahMember Posts: 6
Since bringing up my score, I'd like to pose this question even though I believe this would be the improper thread. We never put the canopies or stickers on in order to keep them perfect. Since already opening the box and building, do you just go all the way with these last parts? It's actually more fun to watch the motor functions this way. But stickers?

Grand Carousel for $25 at a yard sale.
Was the yard sale in 2003 time warp?  (That would make me feel better.)

With the stickers and canopies, if you are hedging your bets - I would either make your own (canopies) or get a duplicate sticker sheet (eBay).

All I ever find at yard sales is filthy Duplo that looks like the child spent more time trying to eat the bricks rather than play with them.

99% of the time, yard sales suck Duplo.

But... Sometimes, you get UCS TIE Interceptors or sealed vintage Star Wars combopacks.

Being a religious yard sale shopper for 20 years, the carousel is by far my lifetime achievement award. I feel awkward bragging, but it is the thread! I did get this lot about 2 months ago at a garage sale. Definitely a 1987 time warp. This family moved to Australia over 18 years ago. Parents came back to empty the storage unit finally and this lot was in there, like new condition with instructions and every build here is 100%. Paid $200 so pales in brag comparison. Many builds to go still but this is our progress. This was more gratifying than the carousel for childhood memories, hopes and dreams.

Very jealous of that monorail! No idea why I never had one as a kid, even though my parents were *very* generous with giving Lego to us kids and we had a rather high % of the contents of the 80's catalogues. Maybe I never asked for it (was I *that* weird of a kid?), or my parents thought that we already had enough Lego trains so we didn't need a monorail?

Essex Bargain Hunt - found two #41130, boxes slightly damaged but contents sealed, for $59 each.

    And a sealed #79119 for $16.

    Nice day!

Found #75113 Rey for $5 at a Walmart I had never been to that's a bit far from me.
  • MaffyDMaffyD West YorkshireMember Posts: 2,431
^ how far is "a bit far" for you @josekalel? In the UK, it's about 5 miles... :-)
  • josekaleljosekalel Rio Grande Valley, TexasMember Posts: 680
@MaffyD Honestly, it's because the store is going 'west' from where I live, and there is nothing for me to do on that area (besides work, which is why I went yesterday, or leisure, which for me means taking photos of older buildings). According to our good pal, Google Maps, it's 27.7 miles away from my house (approximately, 40 minutes). Now, I have driven more to go other Walmart stores, but there is more to do and more stores on that side of where I live.

In contrast, the closest Walmart to me is in the same street I live (kinda) and it's 3.1 miles (about five minutes give or take). Also, I live in the 'Rio Grande Valley', which is in the southmost area of Texas. This area is not densely populated which means that public transportation doesn't work well...and, well, Texas is a very car-oriented state. If you don't own a car, good luck getting around.

Misfortune's Keep at a Walmart  for $40. Marked $59 on the sticker. Store showed 0 in stock when I looked while I was there yet there were 5 in stock. Clearance deals are still lurking at some Walmart  stores so scan things to be sure.

A few weeks ago a new Lego shop opened in the Netherlands, unfortunatley not in my area, but luckily near a friend of mine and he went there to secure a 70323 Jestro's volcano lair for only €80. They had more on offer as special opening prices, but I was out of budget for that month... :(

True...but I hear a heckuva lot of stories of people finding great stuff. :O
  • BobflipBobflip Member Posts: 462
In the case of tracking down bargains at charity shops, it's definitely the quantity. You never know when you might find something amazing at the crappiest place! Shops I've not found anything at for years will randomly have a must-buy find.
