    On the old site I could check everything I bought via [email protected] over the years way back to when I became a member. Now just one year, with less
    I couldn't find how to check on a current order at all on the new site, so found the email with the tracking link.  Checking on orders should be easy, and I like seeing all past orders too. Hopefully they bring that back. :)

    I think we're all being a bit harsh here as teething problems with new sites are common.
    They're not "teething problems" when numerous people come along with a variety of different browser and essentially say "the whole site doesn't work". Teething problems are minor issues that affect a very small number of people and which can be resolved quickly.

    As for being common, that's totally the wrong attitude. Anyone would think that IT can only be right on the third or fourth attempt. That's rubbish - and what testing is all about. You test new releases until you're blue in the face, and then you test it some more. Users, particularly those who are your customers, are not your testers.

    And for when something really goes wrong, you have a strategy for backing out the changes in double-quick time - and you use it.

    Don't you appreciate what   @MAGNINOMINISUMBRA   did?!
    Let me spell it out for you; it is called humor...... irony and bit of sarcasm. Mellowing things up, inverting it. Hyperboles, euphemism etc. whateva!!
    Stating that by the 10 anniversary of 'The force Awakens' (which is in 2025) TLG will have straightened it out.

    Appreciate? No. Because there are too many too many people who do it for real.

    @MooreFX
    Click on your account (if the bloody link hasn't bled to death); sit and wait until firefox recovers from crashing and responds again, then overcome your agony, do some more cursing at your scream, then click on the header 'check your account', get aggravated again, then sigh and look for your inner-peace, when you have found your ying and yang click on VIP transactions, and voilà! Uuuhm well you see some info. However you cannot click on your order numbers to see what you ordered, and how much the products costed you ordered and all that other insightful info you used to be able to check.

    Do what for real exactly Tigermoth? Believe (and by extension, accept) that that teething problems are common with new websites?  You could have easily made exactly the same points you made without the need to cherry pick a part of my quite obviously sarcastic statement.
     I actually agree with your point wholeheartedly but by telling me that my "attitude is wrong" (particularly when it's NOT my attitude at all when taken in the true context of my WHOLE statement) it comes off as quite confrontational.  I've noticed you seem to do this a lot with your overall behaviour on the forums - perhaps you could keep this in mind in future when posting? I personally don't give a rats arse, but I feel a lot of the quality (which is generally quite high) of your overall input is diluted in its often confrontational delivery.
      Back to point - it really is quite amazing the issues with web operations that TLG seem to consistently have (and have had) over so so many years.  I personally feel it's a quirk of being a privately held company - getting it so wrong for so long just wouldn't be deemed acceptable in a PLC.  So much so that I wonder at times if their web operations are being overseen by someone's best mate or brother in law.

    Think that major IT goofs are just part and parcel of life. Too many believe it; too many people accept it. That could be good fun if it related to a nuclear power station, some other safety-critical function, or your bank accounts or pension fund.

    I said the attitude is wrong. I didn't mention you at all.

    ^ but you did quote his sentence that ended with the word 'common' and then stated that "being common... is totally the wrong attitude". If you weren't talking about his post, you're doing a really really bad job of convincing or explaining. Just in case you weren't aware...

    If that's how you want to read it, then that's how you will; if you don't then you won't. You can say much the same thing for the majority of posts round here.

    l hate the new site. Whenever companies launch new sites they are always worse.
  • DedgeckoDedgecko Member Posts: 798
    Even on iOS Safari the new site is terrible.

    I can queue up Sales and Deals three different times, and get three different lists of sets.  The site was not tested well enough and thus TLG is going to turn off the retail public quickly.  Especially when there's something sold out in the store and sales personnel are recommending customers finalize their purchases online.

    The site is garbage and needs to be reverted back until they get the performance and reliability back.
  • tallblocktootallblocktoo Member Posts: 497
    Please bring back the old site.  At least till they have corrected all the many issues this new one is having.  I really miss browsing the old one.  I had contemplated using it to buy some sets that I had missed or won't ever see locally but thats just not going to happen now.

    Put Google Chrome on phone and now LEGO Shop and Bricklink work fine. Unfortunately Google is terrible for all the other stuff I do on the Internet.
  • stevecook132stevecook132 Member Posts: 112
    I'm not really a fan of the new site, it takes too long to load and going back a page seems to cause it to go to sleep for a while, but I can't fault the service once the order goes through. Ordered the Beetle on Thursday afternoon - delivered this morning at 7:45 with two free polys - excellent.

    All I need them to do know is test their website on the crap internet speed I have (3.7Mbs) - if it works properly on that then it would be absolutely smokin' for all the high speed users out there.
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    I have a couple of sets in my shopping cart, filled in the promo code for €10 discount on my order, I qualify for the ninjago poly (which is also in my shopping cart), but I just cannot checkout. The checkout link is dead!
    This is so not in line with everything Lego stands for, or is supposed to represent and embody.

    ps.
    @stevecook132
    Was that other poly; the spiderman one a surprise or did it show up in your cart when you were shopping online?!

  • stevecook132stevecook132 Member Posts: 112
    @TheBigLegoski

    The Spiderman Poly was the surprise freebie - it did not show up during my online order and does not appear on the order paperwork either.

    Aha!
    Well, then that really was a pleasant surprise.

    ps.
    I just send Lego an email about not being able to order via their website. I hope that they will fix their website soon.

    Unfortunately though nowadays, the end user does tend to be the testing party (unless it's a mission critical system like medical equipment). Testing can be an expensive part of the Software Development Process and it's much easier for the software house to just release and fix problems later. I'm not saying that no testing is done internally but no way near as many testing layers that could be done.

    Only the best is good enough, eh?

    TLG has forgotten it's own principles.
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    Well you cannot fault their customer-service, because someone really friendly (customer service people from TLG are always super friendly) in England just phoned me to get my order, and apologize about the current web problems, after I send them an email earlier today.

    So it is not as if they don't care about the malfunctioning new website. Plenty of other companies would have only replied via email over the course of next week, instead of calling on a Saturday afternoon. And yes of course this way they also get to make money they would have otherwise missed out on.

    Are people still having any trouble ordering in the US? Just getting worried that on the 30th I won't be able to order early and will miss out on the promo if I have to wait for CS to start taking calls.
  • pookiepookie Member Posts: 158
    I'm also having troubles on the site. Its just so bad and no longer enjoy surfing the site.
  • tallblocktootallblocktoo Member Posts: 497
    Still pretty much broken for me.

    So how is the new Lego website working out for you all!?!
    I use firefox on my desktop and cellphone, and the new website is just not working at all. It still is an utter nightmare.
    Where as with the old website I never ever had any trouble at all.
  • bandit778bandit778 Member Posts: 2,370
    They appear to have fixed the problem with PAB parts not getting VIP points which is a step in the right direction.
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
    Have ordered in the last weeks both a set and PAB from the new site; didn't experience any issues. Using Chrome on W10. I don't find the new site much worse than the old one; then again I was not a fan of the old one either.
    Still worried about how the site will cope on Friday, but that's not new.
    At least they have brought the "Retiring Soon" tag back.

    I also had no issues placing an order in germany.
    What I want to ask: is there anything confirmed about 30th september for europe, e.g. star wars duoble vip points or something else? :-)
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
    @novoss No official confirmation on what we're getting in Europe yet. Latest news is supposedly triple VIP points on Star Wars sets and #30602 First Order Stormtrooper again: http://www.hothbricks.com/2016/09/30602-first-order-stormtrooper-de-retour-force-friday/
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    @novoss
    I am curious to know that as well. Is there a special offer at [email protected] for us here in Europe too, and when will [email protected] hold it's double VIP point promotion on all their sets etc.
    I hope  @Huw  or any of the other admin's/Brickset staff/writers will let us know? I don't see anything on the Lego website about it.

    BTW the site is working a little better, although it is still very slow, and causes my browser often to momentarily stop responding, especially when I scroll up and down quick (with my mouse wheel) on the page I am looking at. Also the site still keeps giving me the warning "an unexpected error has occurred ..." and still does often not load correct, and/or redirect properly.

    @stlux
    I have not noticed the "retiring soon" tag anywhere, where did you see it?
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
    @TheBigLegoski The Doctor Who set is carrying that label, including for the Netherlands: https://shop.lego.com/nl-NL/Doctor-Who-21304
    (also on the LU and UK [email protected] - didn't check any other countries)

    @stlux
    Thanks! Been tempted to perhaps buy that set, even though I have not watched a Doctor Who episode in decades. There is definitely something about that set, but I still think I will pass. Can't buy just any set that I lay my eyes on, and see has something that I fancy.

    Will order #75095 TIE Fighter so I have all current UCS sets excl Assault on Hoth and the new Death Star.

    @TheBigLegoski I also like the promo sets coming up for the remaining of the year:
    #40220 London Bus
    #40222 Holiday Countdown Calendar
    #40223 Snowglobe
    #30474 Reindeer (possibly)
    Combined with double VIP points I will need to come up with lots of excuses for my wife why DHL is again delivering a big box...

    While I like the London bus, all my purchases will be star wars so I'll just split the orders for the best savings I think.

    So today is the go rogue sales promotion.  I think the website has gone rogue as usual and none of the rogue one sets are available for purchase as of 4:30 AM.

    This website is/has been a complete disaster.  I have never liked it in the 12 yrs I have been buying Lego sets.

    The [email protected] site worked fine for me this morning. From the other comments here I have to start wondering whether it's just the LU site that works OK. I'm a special snowflake! ;)

    6:30 am and Rogue One sets are still listed as "Coming Soon". Great.
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
    so basically, they refreshed the presentation, but didn't change the back end at all.  It's still prone to failures during high volumes times
