^ Already had them over on the MOC thread but here you go. I need to find a thin gold permanent marker to fix the chains and badges though, the one I had was far too thick and wipes off.
Hope the picture posts right, I'm pasting it from that thread and it's getting stretched here...

Finished the Palace Cinema earlier today. Could definately do with an extension - only 6 seats?!?
Finished it yesterday, it kicked my butt...I agree, it needs more seats, a bigger screen, and more stuff in the first floor. However, in the outside and specially the sidewalk looks amazing. I'm gonna be printing out some small posters to add them inside the first floor and to replace the ones outside.

I've just completed booklets 1-5 of #60052, which deals with the truck, locomotive and the wagons, so I'm itching to take over the lounge and run it!

The only problem now is that I've realised that, although I've got goods covered, I have nothing to transport my population around, so I'm going to have to get a #60051 High-Speed Passenger Train and #60050 Train Station at some point.

^^ They need an inter-city passenger train (Horizon Express), and something to haul freight... and a steam engine...

@JudgeChuck yeah, you "have to" get the other sets haha...I just got #60052 but won't be able to build it until I make some more space for it...and yes, I also 'need' #60051 but can't afford it yet, maybe next paycheck.

It irritates me to no end when people mix steam trains with modern diesel/electrics in the same layout. No! One or the other.

Horizon Express and the Maersk are some of my favorite Lego set though and I also recommend them.
  • JudgeChuckJudgeChuck UKMember Posts: 1,093
^Why does it annoy you? For a short period of time, a mix of steam and diesel was the norm... Quite apart from just "why not?" :-)

I'm a romantic steam fan and see diesels / electrics as purely utilitarian machines with no beauty, but that's just me... ;-)

And having said all that, my first LEGO train is a #60052...

^Just preference for a cohesive pretend land time period. If you had a Santa Fe Super Chief alongside late steam that isn't bad. But a modern set like the high speed passenger train just doesn't fit next to the Emerald Night. There are clever ways around it like having a museum display or installing platform 9 3/4s in your train station. Somewhat related I have thought about putting Kingdom Joust outside my City as a Renaissance Fair sort of set up. It would have to be convincing though.

My brother and I used to get around that by using very general time periods for our layouts. That or having it transition from one to the other. For example, we had a 'colonial' layout once - there we had our Napoleonic era navy/fort at one end of the table and as you went up the main street towards the governor's palace, it slowly got more modern until it was early 20th C with Indiana Jones/Adventurers cars and characters.

Quite the purist!  There are still steam engines that run... occasionally.

(This coming from someone that help build an early '50's era scale O gauge train table so there could be steam and first generation diesel.  Someone's father would get super-annoyed when Crockett and Tubbs's sweet Miami Vice ride would be parked at the local Gulf Station...)

I started building #79018 The Lonely Mountain last night and put together Smaug, the gold pile and the start of the main structure.
Unfortunately, the sticker sheet had just been put loose into the box, even though the instruction manual was nicely packaged in a plastic bag and with a cardboard insert. Needless to say, it was crumpled.
Why, oh why, do they not put the sticker sheet in the bag as well? This isn't the first set that I've had in this way, but the stickers have been okay, although the one in #9473 The Mines of Moria was borderline.
Thankfully, I had already ordered a backup sheet from BL, so I had a set to apply, and I also contacted TLG CS, who are sending a replacement.

Just finished #10235 , the medium sized carousal is amazing, it REALLY makes me want The Grand Carousal, if only it wasn't so expensive:(

#10235 gets a bit slated by some people, but I agree with you; it's a lovely set. Now that I've got a few Power Functions bits and pieces I might try motorising it this year.

Now then... Where's my gluwein? :-)

Looks great! I really like your tree.

What happened to Shaggy? Is this a Halloween-themed PSA against drunk motorcycle driving? Scooby's jaunty steps suggest he isn't all that concerned.

I used 10235 for the my fair-ground set up on my train layout. Very easy to "Un-winterize" it and looks very good with the Ferris wheel and mixer. I also powered the Carousal and it ran most of a day off a rechargable Lego battery. I used that one because it has a built in speed control on it which is necessary to slow it down to a reasonable speed.

I've had the Grand Carousal it it looks great but does not run very well. It will work it'self apart in pretty short order.

mmmmm....Gluwein.....enjoyed at the Criskindl Market in Nurenburg.

I babysat a grand carousel at BrickFair and that cured me of ever wanting one myself. The whole set is as fragile as the Medieval Market Village tree.

I'm using the plans for the mechanism and basic structure to build one with Friends horses this week, none of the panels on the side with stuff attached by one stud and I have an idea to stop the 1x1 rounds falling underneath. If it fails miserably I'll be rebuilding my winter market carousel at breakneck speed.

Hmm... from the picture the Mystery Mansion building seemed kinda small, I thought it would be bigger.

Probably will need 2 to 3 sets to make into a decent version.

I built #76044...nice little set but I wish the Batsignal would be a better build, maybe with a light or something, or something with a base like the spotlights in the Palace Cinema.

@josekalel Did you get the TRU free build Bat Signal a couple years back? I've got one around here somewhere, it's pretty badass, and you could switch out the symbols easy-peasy. :)

I built this last night and this morning, fanTAStic little build - four pieces I'd never encountered before - and the look is very aesthetically pleasing (and reminiscent of Chip'n'Dale's Rescue Rangers flying thingy XD). Hadn't intended on even building the little hover-dilly, but I did out of just wanting the build to last a bit longer, and I love it! I don't have too much Ninjago, but the few I've selected I really enjoy... plus it helps that there's a Pirates cross-theme. :D

I wanted to get the 31050 Corner Deli set integrated into my city/ttain layout.  I converted the building to be removable from its floor so it can be popped off to show the interior.  I also added an outdoor patio/eating area as the one that came with it wasnt detailed enough.  Going to add the Lego store from the City Square set into the open area to the right and then i have to finish the interior of the house to the left (add a floor etc).

@LEGO_Dad77 Unfortunately my LEGO Reinassance started about a year ago, so I didn't get into looking for specials or polybags until a few weeks ago...but now I know better.

@Thoughtsonblocks I like how your town looks, incorporating the 'lesser' Creator sets in your town.

Question for those of you with towns...Where do you get the 2x2 'concrete slabs' for your sidewalks?

Do you mean the 2 x 2 tiles? Pick-a-Brick at Lego at Home, or BrickLink. Or have I misunderstood the question?

Still need to rustle up some blue discs to make the engines match, but since (after literally years of thinking 'Y'know, one of these days...') I finally did it, I thought I'd post this.  Not so much because the build is anything ingenious, but because - I'd imagine - it may be unique in the world, as the only Buffy uberfic Star Wars verse Lego set: Tara's hotrod Blue Leader Y-Wing.  May the Force be with you sweetie...

Right before the new Y-Wing comes out in January. Coincidence?
  • MissKittyFantasticoMissKittyFantastico AustraliaMember Posts: 196
@starwars4ever Not entirely, no - I missed the more recent Y-Wing (I forget why I didn't get it, kind of regret that now), so this is my only OT Y-Wing.  I'd probably have gone ahead with this anyway (it's really just because I happened to reread The Honorable Scoundrel at the same time as I've been building customs anyway) but I'm glad I'll have a normal Y-Wing on the shelves as well come next year.  Poor old things don't get enough love.

i have seen this set, in review's, on the box art, in lego official image's.
this is the 1st image i seen that make me have a almost pathological need to own this set.
