[UK] Anyone planning on making an order on the 30th, but don't want Revan?

plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
Basically, I'm more than happy to take a Revan poly off of someone's hands for a reasonable price if you're making a SW order on the 30th of Sept and don't want the freebie! But bear in mind it has to be a better deal for me than just buying a cheap SW set to get the offer myself. :-P

(If I've misunderstood the front page article and Revan is not available in the UK, I'm happy to consider offers from across the pond as long as shipping is reasonable!)

Please let me know offers!

Unfortunately hothbricks.com is reporting Europe is getting 5x #30602 First order stormtrooper.  Also it is any star wars purchase (probably key chains and microfighters included) so should be a very cheap way to get Revan. Hopefully our friends across the pond will be willing to help us out.
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
Bummer. :( Maybe we should start a thread for US people to pool unwanted Revans to send across to us! :-P

That said, how hard is it to just order, say, a microfighter off the US shop to a UK address?
(Might even work out cheaper due to the exchange rate!)
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
^ on the Lego-shop you order on the site of the country. Eg if I wanted to buy a set in the UK and get it sent here (Belgium) that won't work, too bad cause it would make my hobby much cheaper, 50 worry difference for the Big Ben for instance.
Too bad cause I'd love a Revan, still hoping it's going to be Europe too...
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    Huh?
You mean this set #5002123 Darth Revan from 2014? They are offering that again?!?

Where? How did you find this info?
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
Also didn't I read somewhere that 'The Old Republic' has been declared none-canon with the Disney acquisition of SW!? Which would make re-releasing a character from that era / sub-theme a little odd?! Not that there is anything wrong with Darth Revan, I think he is a cool minifig!
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,477
@TheBigLegoski check the main site, it was on an article there. Also this would likely be a case of using up surplus stock, not rereleasing.
  • TheBigLegoskiTheBigLegoski Member Posts: 1,437
    @Shib
Thanks, I not yet seen that article.
  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
@Shib love your new picture! is it supposed to make me think of 'Meet the Robinsons'?

Indeed it is, I'm surprised anyone noticed it so quickly, it's part of a collaborative project for STEAM, so there will be more pics after that ;-)

@shib Can't wait to see them! I am just a bit of a Disney fan and that's a great film!

-- sorry for derailing a bit, but if there are Americans who want to get Revans for people over here let us know (and first plasmodium obviously since he started the thread)

    Me too!
  • plasmodiumplasmodium Member Posts: 1,956
No, that's totally cool guys! I'd love for this to become a Revan distribution thread! If UK/EU people specify in this thread that they want one, and US people can post their willingness to sell, we can match them up in order of posting I guess.

It's difficult to keep lists within posts up to date, given that you can only edit for 6mins, but I'm more than happy to maintain a Google doc or something with an up-to-date list for us.

The only thing that remains to be done is to get people on both sides of the Atlantic on board with this - so far no Americans have offered, which may be because of the [UK] tag in the title. If I (or any of you guys) can think of a good way to phrase it, we can get a mod to change it.

But then again, I'm not sure the UK/EU promo has been officially confirmed, so I don't know how worth it is setting up a massive thing straight away.

(Just to say, I finished KOTOR I for the first time just this summer and am halfway through II, so I'm really happy to see Revan come round again!)

I think the thing is, Revan is worth ~$36 here now. One day of "whoops, we're out of those polys" isn't likely to change the price much- the market will just absorb the new polys.

So if I were to sell any Revans, it would have to be for about the current asking price, and I didn't feel comfortable offering that here.

Fair enough. The reason that I posted in the first place was that I've been able to make acceptable deals with Brickset members for other unwanted freebies in the past (notably the retro space and castle S@H exclusives and one or two of the Christmas S@H exclusives). There are folks on here who have been willing to pass them on for a reasonable price because a) they were ordering from S@H anyway, b) the exclusives were free, so any money made off them is pure profit and c) they didn't want them anyway, so why not pass them on to another Brickset member who did.

Granted, in both of those cases, it was not a rerelease of a product with an established market price. My original intent in creating this thread was to continue in that same spirit of essentially subsidising someone's S@H order in exchange for a freebie they didn't want. My intention is in no way to organise EU Brickset members to take advantage of US members by forcing them to sell below market price, but after others started commenting, I just thought it might be nice to provide a place for these kinds of community deals to take place.

You may be right, though - we may find that no US members are willing to sell below market price, and that they don't feel like twisting someone's arm (or having their arm twisted) for the sake of 'community'.

I totally understand. If someone had asked for a Classic Castle shipped over the pond, I would happily do it, as there isn't a predetermined price on it.
  • SprinkleOtterSprinkleOtter Member Posts: 2,779
Actually, if someone is looking for Revan, and is willing to pay for the Shop@Home order, and shipping, then I would be happy to send as many Revans as you want over.

I may be able to contribute a Revan. I intend to pick up the U-Wing first thing from my B&M shop, and should be able to force my SO to pick up a cheap set for the extra.

I do not recall seeing Lego S@H actually say "1 per household" on most promos like this, but this is actually the first time I have read the fine print.

He's made a list, he's checked it twice, Darth Revan (might be) coming to town.

Basically, I've just put the US people in the left column and the EU people in the right column in the order that they posted.

@Legoboy - I put a question mark by your name because I wasn't sure if it was a serious post or just a joke. :-)
My name has a question mark because someone offered me a deal almost as soon as I posted the thread, but I haven't heard back from them yet, so I'm not sure if that deal's still on.

Just saw in the US shop@home thread they're offering free shipping on all orders no minimum until September 30th. So basically people can order a key chain get revan sell him on effectively  making the order free.

Here's the flyer that I got in the mail yesterday. The Revan give-away is one day only on 30 September. The fine print says "while supplies last".

I do not see anything that would limit you from making multiple orders and to add to the chaos, Lego is offering free shipping as per this blurb off Lego.com:

Free Shipping offer valid September 12 through 11:59pm EST (8:59pm PST) September 30, 2016. Free Shipping applies to shop.LEGO.com and catalog orders only. Qualifying purchase in merchandise only; any applicable taxes, Bricks & Pieces replacement parts orders or value of gift cards purchased do not apply to merchandise total. Free shipping will automatically be added with a qualifying order. Free shipping is via standard ground service; upgrades do not apply. If you choose another shipping option, additional charges will apply. Standard order processing and delivery time is 3-8 days from the date of order. Free shipping valid only in the contiguous United States. Not valid at LEGO® Stores, LEGOLAND® Parks or Discovery Centers. LEGO® Group reserves the right to cancel or modify this promotion at any time without advance notice.

This to me says that the system will crash at 12:01 as everybody attempts to order one Star Wars keychain multiple times.

    Hasn't Lego learned anything?

I plan on making an order on the 30th and am not a MF collector, I have never shipped overseas so I may need a little help (how hard could it be?) and one more caveat, I have not yet been able to order from the new site, so I may have to wait for customer service to open before I can order and by then they may be out of stock. So in short, put me down for a maybe.

It's not hard. It just goes like anything else (way more expensive, though). Just have the recipient send you all the information for a customs form and you'll be fine.
  • Bricklover18Bricklover18 Member Posts: 722
Also on the customs form mark "gift" instead of merchandise.

Sprinkle: Nope, didn't miss that. That is only enforce in-store. On-line is a different story. Sure you run the risk of all your orders getting cancelled or getting banned but Lego won't notice 5-10 orders, especially if they are not placed concurrently. I stand by my prediction that the Brickpicker crowd will crash Lego.com or clean them out in short order. Buy a keychain and get minifig currently valued at $35.00? The vultures are already circling!

    Oh, didn't know that.

Just going to bump this for visibility with only a few days left. If there are any more senders or receivers who'd like to get in on the deal please make your interest known! As it stands, we have the same number of US senders as EU receivers signed up, so be advised that if you do want a Revan, I can put you on the list, but you won't be guaranteed a poly unless another US member expresses interest in sending one, or if someone 'above' you pulls out. If we end up with more US senders (who knows) we might be able to sort out duplicates, but it'd be understandable if they'd just want to flip them for profit. :-)

Having said which, it might be worth getting in contact with the person who you got matched up with to sort out details sooner rather than later - ie, are they proxying an entire order, or are you just buying the Revan off them, for what price, etc.

Price is entirely up to the seller - I'm not going to presume to set a guide price or anything. You can see my discussion with @SprinkleOtter above for more details, but this is not an organised deal with strict rules, just a place for Brickset members to help each other out with obtaining regional exclusives.

I have a package pending from the US with an earlier buy from a brickset member where the Revan poly might get added to the order. Would avoid paying for postage 2x, but will only be confirmed on Friday though. So my status for this thread is "maybe".

I was advised in one of the Lego stores in the UK that there will be a minimum spend to get the Star Wars promo in the region of £50 and we won't be getting Revan (which I was looking forward to) so I'm hoping the assistant was wrong and it's with any purchase over here in the UK too. Even a free 30602-1: First Order Stormtrooper would still be good if there's no minimum spend.

I assume this would depress the price of the polybag if a glut of these hit the market.

Revan "sold out" in less than 9 hours or there about. Stores may still have them, but S@H is all out. I am sure the "horde" got their hands on many of them, but having them be gone in this short of time tells me there weren't many to be had. I wish I had kept track of all previous promotions, but I feel I remember TC-14 being around a lot longer, although, this is the second run of Revan, so it is hard to compare.

Promotion was a bit of a letdown, as what my wife was ordering for me for Christmas (AT-ST) didn't become available in our time zone until after Revan was sold out.

Not that I particularly care about this figure, I just like free LEGO shit. :D
