wow, down to 224.99 Surprising, but I wonder if this is another 'deal' where the set box is not put into another shipping box but just a label is slappy on it... Be careful as Amazon does this, if you get two they may not, but buying one sounds like they would throw the set box in what amounts to a big baggie

Surprised more people are not excited about exclusives now being discounted.  Granted it's not on the modular line yet.  I do suspect that we will see some nice discounting this Christmas season.

Personally I'm tapped out with all the 50% off clearance deals this summer at Walmart. I need to sell some stuff to even think about discounted exclusives.

I think the only way that occurs is if no store has the exclusive in stock anymore except for LEGO (which I think did occur with an exclusive a few years ago, but forgot which one- I think it was the Kingdoms Joust set.). So it can happen, but not certain how common it will be. The only two large sets I'm looking to get right now would be GB HQ and the Classic batcave set; I think everything else I want can wait until next year.

For me it is more that those are not sets I am interested in. Ewok Village I would jump on, but I bought it last year. :-) I am excited to see some possibility of discount, though. I will just be far more excited when it is one of the sets I am considering.

Got #31050 Corner Deli for $29.99...I've been trying to get some of the creator sets so that I can finally start my city, and this one seemed like a good corner building. Now, if only I could spare five times more for a few Creator Expert sets...

Well the Bat Cave was on sale this last weekend at several retailers.  I'm not sure what you're talking about.  Granted these are probably slow moving exclusive sets hence the discount.  However, I wouldn't be surprised to see a modular or two go on sale this Christmas.

Well then that is a change in policy (unless they are not really 'exclusives' now), but what kind of discount are we talking about? 5%-10% ? Where were these sales?
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
Curious - what the discount on the Batcave ... maybe $10?

^ $242.99 right now at target...not including tax or red card savings.

15% off at Target (with Red Card).  Right at this moment.  It's been this price for the past few days.

Thanks. It is interesting, and maybe a sign of things to come, then again that set probably should have been around 250 USD to begin with. It does still appear in the 'Hard to find' section at LEGO as well. But this is the first time in a long time that an exclusive has been on sale for such an amount in my memory.

Let's not get too greedy. It has 2500 pcs. and a bunch of exclusive minifigs. Asking for $200 is basically saying that you like the set but not enough to pay for it.

I refuse to go by piece count given the large amounts of 1x1 type pieces in many of these sets.

I got #60107 Fire Ladder Truck at $13.43, and #60134 Fun in the Park at $31.99, which I think it's still a bit much but I really wanted to have some of the figures for a 'family portrait'.

Amazon is price matching Target's City 20% off sale right now, though it will be interesting to see if they match the price of the 60097 city square at Target right now as I believe it is 115 (sold out at Target though).

Thanks for the tip! ...this forum is going to kill me :-)

Grabbed the whole Prison Island theme: (already had the polybag)

    - #60130 Prison Island (36% off)
    - #60127 Prison Island Starter Set (36% off)
    - #60126 Tire Escape (31% off)

I know last week I said that I was going to hold back on buying City sets for lack of display/storage space, but after finishing cleaning/organizing the apartment, the whole living room floor is available again!

Any of the minecraft sets a good source of 1 x something bricks? On a quick look, they mostly contain 2 x something bricks, which I don't usually have a use for.

Some, but you are right there are a lot of 2xs. I think First Night has 20 1x2 dark bley masonry bricks and a few other good 1xs and the Jungle Tree House has a lot of nice nougat and a number of good tiles as well. The good thing I see in the 2xbricks is they are almost all earth tones and can be used for building terrain or foundations.

My LUG has drafted several of the basic sets in the past. @Bumblepants is correct that they make excellent parts packs for building terrain. Several also have very large plates included.

They are not so great if you are mainly looking for 1x parts.

#60052 Cargo train is 123.99 at this moment at Amazon
  • ShpadoinkleShpadoinkle Member Posts: 420
Because jet.com matches amazon, you can now get the #60052 for 50% off (more with tax and the ibotta app.)

Buying two, opting out of free returns, paying with a debit card, and applying "triple15" I just got two cargo trains for $197.08 out the door, and will receive a $9.85 rebate from ibotta.

So that's $400 worth of blue train goodness for $188!

^ as has been discussed around here over the past few weeks, that policy apparently got quietly rolled back.

Still seems pretty limited, compared to pre-ban, but hey, it's better than nothing.
