Here are the box and instructions. The worst part of the box is in the 4th photo and adjacent edge on the back. The rest is pretty good. The worst thing about the directions is the dog ear on the bottom right.

I'd be interested at $425. I've been looking to start a Modular street. (everyone watching and waiting to complain about MS not being a modular, go take a walk ;))

The 10190 is yours to do as you wish but a lottery sounds needlessly complicated. That set is easily worth about $700.00 IMO so $425.00 is a steal. I'd price it at $650.00 (which is still under rough market value) and the first money gets it.

@TheMaker37   You do have part of a #4559 9v train in there at least. The yellow train base only came in that set. http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=4559-1#T=I

Thank you for posting an update. I have really enjoyed all the photos of the haul as you sorted and built.

I can't believe the haul you scored. Amazing.
As happy as I am for you, I couldn't still help thinking about the kid with MS and what his family is going through.

What you do with your money is your business.
But please consider making a donation to an MS non-profit organization.
After all, you were blessed because of this sad situation.

There are several sets that I was excited to see as they were unpacked--not the two obvious big ones (Market Street and #10188) but some of the older City sets. I'd very much like to know what else @TheMaker37 has decided to sell!

  • TheMaker37TheMaker37 Member Posts: 496
Now that the sets are out of the way I have been trying to find out exactly what these bins are? I have found some of these translucent ones but not with printing on them. I have 3 of them. And I have this nifty little storage container that looks like a lego. Do these have lego ID #'s like sets? Any help would be much appreciated:)

Some stuff that's in there that people haven't ID'd yet:

    #8970 (oh baby)

    #5885-1

#5970-1 (just realized it's called Freeze Ray Frenzy because the guy's going ham with a Freeze Ray he attached to the top of his bike thing)

    #7644 (OH BABY)

And depending on where you live, #7475 or #7296 (random anecdote, I saw this hilarious Top 10 Shortest-Lived Lego Themes video on youtube that thought Dino 2010 was a rerelase of Dino Attack that was actually put out in 2010. Apparently the guy hadn't heard of Ice Planet 2002, lol)

Also there was something from #5980 that wasn't with the regular building.

    Here's some more:

    #8636-1(nice GitD octopus)

    #7773-1

    #7738-1

#2111-1 (obviously the guy you bought from wanted to try out Ninjago spinners)

    #75001 (maybe 2 copies?)

#5981-1 (first of two official Lego Vic Vipers, rest in peace Nate Nielson)

    #8958-1

And my personal favorite, #8709-1. However, say goodbye to your hopes of a Mobile Devastator, everybody. This is where the Birght Yellowish Green 4545216 is from.

I can guarantee that the Tirceratops trapper and Hypersonic Carrier were both ID'd. They are sitting nicely in different rooms in my house. ;)

Didn't realise Lego had ever made 'official' Vic Vipers. Especially like the nod in the set name as well - can hardly be coincidence!

The second is the jet in #7066-1. I don't have that one myself, but thanks to Polywen over at Flikr I can confirm it was intentional:

I'd just like to say "Thank you" to TheMaker37 and everyone else one this thread for the great pics and identifications on these sets. I recognized a bunch of stuff in the pictures as things that are in my bins of unsorted LEGO, and this has been a great help in figuring out what is in those bins.

    Thanks!!

@datsunrobbie You should post some pics of your bins so people can guess what's in them. Our fellow Bricksetters seem to enjoy the challenge of identifying sets from just a few pieces.

Thanks folks. I'll take some pics the next time I get to dump out a tub and start searching. I just don't want to look (or feel) lazy for posting  pics of a pile of LEGO without at least trying to identify it myself. I have roughly 200 pounds of unsorted LEGO in the bins, some of it I have not even opened the thrift-shop bags.

Over the last few days I've just been building simple stuff with my grandson and sorting out "basic" blocks from one of the bins. I sorted out another 1000 pieces last night, all 1x and 2x bricks.

I've had this thing lying around for months. I never found any directions nor did I find it in the Brickset database. Is this a set, piece of a set or a MOC? Any Ideas?

    Recognise that - I think it's 7553 2011 city advent calendar

Yes, from the City Advent calendar set.

^^Thanks, looks like I will break it down and throw into unsorted pile.

Placed my final Bricklink order today:) Should be posting all the sets I did not keep for myself or sell in the Marketplace later this week. It was a long journey that tested my patience and resolve a few times. I poured 100's of hours of free time into the project. Total haul 142 sets. At least 90% of them are complete, the others are in various states of incomplete, some just missing a fig or two, others will remain incomplete because its not in my best interest to complete them and will most likely be broken down for parts.

Along with all the sets I aquired at least 20000 loose parts which will (one day) be sorted and cataloged. I also got a few LEGO bins a CMF display case and many other small things which are too much to be listed.

I enjoyed the process but don't see myself doing this again in the near future unless i find a insane deal like this again. Finally I can order all the sets I put off all though the summer and getting back to building simply for the joy of the act.

    Average price per set: $14.08

I've got $30 burning a hole in my wallet right now.... don't carry cash for that reason. XD Would love to purchase a couple small sets from you!

Also, I just finished reading through this entire thread. You are awesome.

Is that including the UCS sets?
  • TheMaker37TheMaker37 Member Posts: 496
@SprinkleOtter That is the cost of the collection divided by the number of sets. This number may be a bit misleading, this is not the average price per set of what I am selling. It does not take into account the sets which will be broken down and the sets I kept for myself. That number would be higher.

There is still not a huge profit margin here because there are many small sets that will not even exceed the low number of $14.08

I think whats intriguing is this deal seemed spectacular, and most of us were probably a tad jealous.  However when you really keep track of your time it still makes it questionable if its worth it.  And now with more counterfeits working their way into collections its going to be a huge concern purchasing entire collections.

My conclusion after this very enjoyable thread, and having purchased several large collections myself in past years, is its simply not worth the time... unless you really enjoy it, or pay xx per pound and want the pieces.

I know I am to the point I just bricklink what I need and my time is worth more than the little I can save buying huge lots.

But again, congrats on a nice lot and thanks for sharing and recording your journey for us!

Thought I would revive the old thread. Just when I was getting out from under the last collection I purchased I went and did it again. This one has about 250-300 lbs of loose pieces a dozen or so sealed sets a couple dozen partially built sets, 4 gallon sized bags filled completely with figs and a bag full of baseplates. Ugh. Just when I thought I was done they pull me back in.

On the plus side my future BL store will have sufficient inventory.

Make sure to give plenty of updates so I can live vicariously through you. At first, getting 250 pounds of LEGO sounds like fun. When I think about it further, it loses some of its appeal--especially if it isn't clean. Good luck!

It looks pretty good from initial appearances. The large tote is about 2 1/2 vertical feet of lego so there is always the possibility that some are dirty.

I was wondering if I found a diamond in the rough. Is this a comic con exclusive green lantern? SH001 the hair piece looks light but the print and the rest are spot on.

  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,829
Not an expert but the shoulders look like they come to a point instead of being rounded, and the print is off center. It may be how comic con fig are, but torso could be fake. How does the neck look?

Can anyone help identify these. Couldn't seem to locate them.

  • TheMaker37TheMaker37 Member Posts: 496
@gmonkey76 you are right the shoulders are very angular.

  • RecceRecce Member Posts: 923
    Looks fake to me.

No Lego word on the torso. The arm to torso joint shouldn't have scratches, at all.
  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,492
I see several warning signs that would indicate that it is not authentic too. Sorry!

With that in mind, it's even more important to check every single minifigure in this collection for the LEGO stamp on the top of the neck on the torso and in between the leg studs.

That should have 'Lego' on the neck, no?

@VorpalRyu is the only person I've ever seen open his, so maybe he'll oblige with a photo?
  • TheMaker37TheMaker37 Member Posts: 496
Thanks. I didn't know about the stamp on the neck. Good thing I just started on some figs. I can spot a fake lego across the room. Fig authentication is new to me. Just another learning curve.

Open? It came on a standard carboard backing. This is before they got "fancy" with a blister pack.

It will have LEGO stamped on the neck as one sign that it is potentially authentic.
