    Got notice from work I am going back to Germany in either Nov. or Feb. this time with the whole family for a short staff retreat. That will be nice but I am mostly just excited for a chance to hit the Lego Store in Frankfurt again!

    working on that atm... now im fighting with a few results made out of bulk lots... entire process it going to take a while though since orders are going to be spread over a few months....
    Optimized off a big bunch of cost by replacing light blue gray levers with light old gray ones. (70 of them at 50 cent instead of 7 something euros)

    Following-on from this admission, I'll be taking apart some polybag sets (to declutter my display shelves) and building a stand for the TIE Advanced Prototype this evening (in preparation for building it with little miss xwingpilot next week).

    Lol @xwingpilot its all downhill from here!  I've been struggling with the same of late.  Love buying Lego and especially building sets but limited space.  Wondering what the point is in continually buying more if many are just all buried away.  Perhaps I'll have to start rotating the displays.  Does anyone else do this?

    I had read several posts around here of people rotating their displayed sets do to limited space. I will start doing that soon since my cramped/buried display areas are getting ridiculous; for example, I taking a picture I posted yesterday, I noticed that I have #75078 Imperial Troop Transport.

    Anyway, the City Demolition sets are going to storage soon to make room for a few (built) Star Wars ships that are currently stacked on a chair in the living room.

    today i decided to start #42043 2 of 6 stages finished and i can say that the gearbox in #42042 is far more complex then the gearbox in #42043.
    gearbox's aside, i think that the build of #42042 did help me get use to modern Technic type build's. even if a £59.99 RRP Technic set would have probably been a better start point. 
    in a ideal world ware i have £1,000,000,000 to spend on lego :p, i would have started with a £20 set, then a £40 set. then a £60 set, then a £100 set, then a £170 set.
    who am a joking here? if i had £1,000,000,000 to spend on lego i would buy at least 1 of every set i could find. Technic, Lego, Trains and maybe Duplo?
    day-dreams aside, i going to find it hard to not buy all Technic set's i find in shops from now on. there is one set however that i may just may pay RRP for, and that is #42030 now knowing what i do about Technic, #42030 call's to me. it is saying  "YOU NEED TO BUY ME" and it's not whispering it to me. i going to need new ears at this rate.

    If you haven't already, acquaint yourself with http://rebrickable.com/ - and see which sets you can build without buying them. Other sets tend to use lots of specialist parts; Technic sets tend to use far fewer and it's therefore a lot easier to build one out set out of a few others, particularly if you not concerned about colours.

    Finally finished #75919 which in my traditional way has taken me 12 days (an inner bag a day) Really would like to know who decides how to split the instructions / parts into bags.... as some were very small and some very big.

    @xwingpilot [email protected] Im sure we all buy, build, display and store. I spend longer now deciding which set to build next / which set to put in the loft to fit the newest one in than i do building. Sometimes you just have to be ruthless and store a whole theme.... the good news is its nice to see gaps where you can just pop the next model in without thinking.... and you can always re-visit the loft......  My next build #75157 i have no space for.... but a few days to store a star wars model or 5 to make space.

    Also meant to ask Does anyone else use lego only stands for displays. I mostly use stanchions, girders and support stands..... but for larger models pint and smaller glasses.....

    90% of my collection isn't built. I don't have any space to display them. Once I'm in a bigger place, I'll try and find a clever way to showcase them.

    @Lego34s what are you displaying, I've recently finished #75105 Millennium Falcon and purchased a perspex stand off ebay for it. 
    The same vendor makes similar stands for most Star Wars ships. 
    Looks great and I'll grab a photo later today and post up.

    Today, while cleaning/organizing the big closet I use for in-the-apartment storage (I have stuff at an off-site, paid storage location - action figures, books, LEGO, etc.) I found the following LEGO instructions I forgot about. This means that all these sets are in the off-site storage location.

    - #7101 Lightsaber Duel (uhm, I guess I had a set from the prequels all along)
    - #7110 Landspeeder (that makes it three Luke's landspeeders in my collection)
    - #7127 Imperial AT-ST
    - #7128 Speeder Bikes
    - #7140 X-Wing Fighter (probably a fleet of x-wings by now)

    I really need to go and fish out those set from storage.

    I am still missing the instructions for #6208 B-Wing Fighter as I clearly remember my ex-wife complain about it because I had in on display in our room on top of her makeup kit.

    So, a few days ago I was talking to my brother (who doesn't live at home anymore) and he mentioned how he actually had some LEGO sets under his bed...it never occurred to me that he had some, and then went and looked in to them...

    Turns out he has:
    - #7110 (I have the other newer but not last version)
    - #7128
    - #7301 (how the heck did I miss him having a Yoda MF?)
    - #7139
    - #7201
    - and most importantly (at least for me) #7143 Jedi Starfighter (I had been wanting to get it, but now I 'have' it!).

    I'll end up reassembling the sets (unlike me, he did used to play with them) after I am done with my project (rebuilding some old sets such as a Pizzeria, aerial show, and so on) and hopefully finally start my photography spree.

    Yes. All my minifigures and microfighters are on bases/stands too. Only sets like #75094 that have landing feet are allowed to sit directly on the shelf. It's a good job too because in flight mode that set would require a huge amount of space. Thankfully, 'proper' UCS sets already come with stands.

    I have most of my collection stored away in the `Really useful` boxes that I got when I was living in the UK. They are sorted by theme and mostly dismantled. However, I also have some large boxes with models that I haven`t broken down because my son plays with them. We have `Nexo knights` days, and `Ninjago` days, so I get the built models out and we play. He thinks its great - sometimes when something is on display all the time you don`t pay much attention to it. I like being able to bring it out from the box and `re-discover` the set again. Certainly after sometime my son doesn`t ask the get the sets out that are on display, so having this turn-around means that there are plenty of eye-catching `new` sets on display. Just as an aside - we recently found out we`re having another baby so we looked through all the baby stuff we have stored away and my son spent a few days playing with these toys. If they were in his room, he would have just ignored them, but the novelty of seeing `new` toys (of course they are all his old toys) he was super excited. Now, after a few days, they are boring....! ;-)

    My modulars and a few larger sets, including the Simpsons house and Kwik-E-Mart stayed built and on display, but I have enough room to rotate various other themes. 

    I`ve just started to put away some sets to make room for HALLOWEEN! The 1st of September marks the beginning of the building process so we have 2 months to build and enjoy these sets. Building time is limited so I need enough time to get a good halloween display before the 31st October!

    @BooTheMightyHamster - yes it is. I took it to another show in October last year where it was demolished by people bumping into the table and haven't had the room to repair it until now - after the great LEGO room move. So out it came. Repair done and back into boxes it goes. I'd forgotten how mad it was.

    took me a little under 4 hours to finish stage 3 of #42043
    stage 3 was not hard per say, but i did have to make my brain work in ways its not use to.
    but it is starting to look like a truck now. even if it looks like one that has had it's outer shell pulled off.

    2 things before i try to sleep,

    Number 1.
    finished stage 4 of 6 for #42043 and the air system tubes feel jammed in to the space to me. it all works but the number of tubes to move that air around. just wow.
    when i look at the under side of that crane mount i cringe at the mass, that is as bad as the back of any tower PC that been in use for over 3 years. 

    Number 2.
    i noted that black Friday is fast approaching. so, i have decided to TRY! and save up my lego budget, so only offers of 35% or better on set's that i have marked as (I WILL BUY THAT) will i try to buy from now until Black Friday. no idea what i will find to buy that day. but i hope for some good deal's. like a good deal on #60051 i will not say no to :p
