And I built this today. Very impressed by the design, and how well it sits with the Maersk diesel. Just need to find me some stickers...
Lookin' forward to building the others!
The lineup:
Thanks again @chuckp for donating these awesome polybags and @Legoboy for organizing the raffle. Now just waiting for @bendybadger's Batpod ;)
Can still add other colour blocks like black, white, green, orange etc if required.
see how you put it together.
The Ancient One seems fairly unconcerned about her fate, but Mordo is annoyed because Strange is blocking his view of the impending mastication.
Good diorama, like the rotating tentacles, but unconvinced by the levitating cloak mechanism - it took a fair bit of wrangling to get that cape onto Doctor Strange properly, and I ain't about to take it off any time soon!
really dig this truck
it look's awesome.
A few new plates added, but most of it is recycled from the set. The main thing was to get rid of the extra height to the mansion section - I did briefly toy with the notion of separating the mansion facade into a whole separate set, but ended up with this instead as the less-work option; kind of hinting at the house's foundation, then the black to suggest a cross-section of what's in fact solid rock, opening into the 'cave' lower down.
My other goal was adding a back wall and front 'overhang' to the reactor section - the latter had me puzzling a bit, given the way the front comes together from the two angled sections at the side, so what I eventually did was attach it to the pole/mansion section by a hinge, and just rest the other end on top of the edge of the helipad section.
Not sure if it fits LEGO very well, just wanted to drop the pictures.
Anyone else ever did some Slender releated MOC?
Lady liberty in in all her glory. May the red, white and blue wave strong forever more in the face of adversity. God bless America!
I was wanting to ask a fellow Bricksetter who'd also built this, were you surprised that the build had two 'floating' unattached pieces? One in the fireplace and the other on the lab cart near the end of the build.
but there are also the 4 chairs and the sink. so there are a big number of floating items in this set.
Next up is the Fire Brigade modular (at long last - hurry up and deliver it postman) hopefully followed by the Grand Emporium if I can get one at a reasonable price.
got the bag's numbed 1 finished.
and it fun.
Technic set's have got a lot more complex from the time when i got some sets back in. (go's and look's up the set numbers and year's) 1996 #8286 and 1997 #8250.
i has picked up both back in the day, on a 50% off sale. in 1998.
now there is a lot more use of Technic Beam's next to Technic Beam's.
and a lot less use of Technic Brick's. case in point. i have yet to see a Technic Brick in this set (go's and looks at #42042 part list.) there are no Technic Brick's in this set.
and only a small number of normal Lego parts. (non Technic stuff.) i go as far as to say the old Technic is more a Mix of normal lego and Technic. and the new Technic is almost no normal Lego.
still i am having fun and that is the main point.
and placed a part wrong.
i was not until over 25 staps maybe more later that i spotted it.
and as this part is the main gear box if you like. getting it wrong is bad.
so i decided it would be better to pull it all the way back to the start of stage 2 (bags 2) and try again. after i had a sleep.
The layout was referenced from one of Brickshelf member Joaquin's MOC.
On a another note...WIFE, PLEASE COME HOME FROM YOUR TRIP!!!
(Wife is on vacation and while I consider myself a perfectly competent parent, I'm not nearly as efficient as Mommy is. As my oldest says "Mommy is better at doing two things at once than you are." Thanks for the vote of confidence, buddy!)
