    Arh sorry too late... Didn't think to use the Brickset link. Just wanted to get the order in.. 

    Can you have a deal a different way with Lego to receive a small commission? i.e. Link our VIP card number to Brickset, thus all orders are linked, and thus Brickset doesn't miss out?

    i know there needs to be some work done by Lego for this to happen, but long term it will help all parties..

    I would have to fight some of the employees at my local store to be able to build the display models.  Many of the employees I know consider this a perk of being an employee, and they would not be happy if the manager let me swoop in and build it instead.

    Saw on Reddit that it was available in store at a Lego store at Europe, but they didn't say which one.

    It's supposed to be available in-store to VIPs from today. It's the "Early Access" set shown on the store calendar.

    I got mine at Arrowhead mall in Phoenix. There were 4 people ahead of me at 9 am. They only had 16. One of the employees was taking names and how many you wanted ( limit 2). Then I saw the employee put hold tags on each of the sets. They ran out, 3 people behind us. Felt bad for anyone hoping to walk in at 10 trying to get one.

    I stopped by the Park Meadows mall store at lunch and they had 5 that I could see (2 on the shelf and 3 behind the counter). The one they had set up looked really good. Cant wait to pick it up :)  Definitely need to get a little turn table so that its easy to look at the front and back.

    while that would be great for fansites, LEGO is negatively incentivized to spend money to develop systems which would end up costing them more by way of affiliate payments.  We should be lucky they continue to even pay affiliates in any case - they could easily just cut that program like they have so many others.

    Maybe, but then again, it would add yet another leverage point that Lego could potentially use to suppress information.  "Yeah, you know, we're not a fan of all that negative speculation of #75159.  Could you delete that thread?  Thanks"

    I ordered one from Lego this morning.  I waited up until midnight and no link, got up slightly before 3AM and waited until Hawaii hit midnight, still no link.  I ordered one at 6AM.  I am so sorry not to see the link on this forum.  I was refreshing in my frustration and keeping tabs on Reddit. Congrats to everyone who was able to get to a store this morning and pick one up.

    An acquaintance who works for LEGO told be they often take sets home to build for retailers' displays and sometimes get to keep them after the retailers are done displaying. Surprisingly, it was mentioned more as a burden than as a perk. Even asked if I would like to do it (and possibly keep some sets afterwards).

    The curse of the hobby becoming the job, maybe. That, and I wonder if some people get into working in Lego shops as part of a retail career trajectory/interest in general toy retail rather than out of a particular interest in the bricks themselves...

     The manager said something along those lines, and that they weren't allowed to anymore or it got in the way with family time/other chores and what not. I can't remember exactly, but she made it seem like it was getting a bit bothersome lol.

     The ones I encountered at the store I frequent seems to just be working there cause it's work haha. Maybe two or three employees I've talked to seemed to really be into LEGO.

    When I got to my local store, they still had lots left (I counted 10 out front). They were prepped for a load of people, with little hold tags and the like. This was about 30 minutes after the shop opened. Already cracked the box and started the first portion of the build!

    this is true (at least in North America).  At LEGO brand stores, the policy always used to be that employees who take home and build the displays would get to keep them once they were done being displayed.  Unfortunately for them, this policy was discontinued right around the time the grab bags went away, and the pieces from those displays now get dumped together with the pieces from open returns, (very) damaged boxes, etc, and get shipped back to Enfield and eventually (I believe) become LUG support brick.

    I just watched the review of this set on The Brick show (I`m not a fan of their review style but I couldn`t wait). I was surprised to see that the castle can be separated into three sections - a worry is that the large middle section could get knocked off or fall off during play or moving. Although removing the large middle section does allow access to the bottom and front of the castle. 

    I like all of the references to the various Disney movies, although The Brick Shows knowledge of this was pretty poor. May be their research department could do better next time..... ;-)

    I`m super excited to pick this set up soon - well when I get the funds!!! I really want to buy it now, but the wife is being the voice of reason - we really don`t have the money at the moment....yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah, woteva. I hate it when she`s right.

    @TheLoneTensor I found some very nice hotels, but Hotels.com didn't help me choose which set I want... :/

    after what @BrickDancer posted over on "what are you building right now", I might get all four of the model cars instead as I haven't gotten any of them. I also just got a #10151 so...

    @TheLoneTensor I've seen the pictures, and I've already, owned, built and sold my #10188 . I'm Death Star satisfied for now.

    Right now, I'm swaying towards the four model cars. It also seems that #10151 is about the same scale as those sets.

    Jangbricks brings up a technique used which he feels might possibly be an illegal build according to Lego.  Marcos Bessa the builder of the model has responded to him on his video review if anyone is interested.

    I'm definitely looking forward to getting a whole Disney setup going. With the Disney Castle as centerpiece, CMF surrounding it, plus figs from all the other Disney theme sets (Toy Story, PotC, Lone Ranger, Prince of Persia). Then brick built characters staged around like Construct-a-Buzz Lightyear, Ultimate Cars (McQueen, Mater, Francesco). But will exclude Marvel Superheroes and Star Wars, which would be too overwhelming to include.

    Sadly, the Milwaukee store did not have a castle on display yet. I was looking forward to at least seeing it.

    ^^ You're right, it does look magnificent.  

    It would be a great if for a promo, they would give out a large poster of fireworks like in the pic.  It would make a good display look great.

    This is a tough one me....finally a good looking set that that has the "complete" look, all connected, well planned out, and probably priced accordingly....but I just dont want to part with $350 for a  lego set that first, no one in my house wants to take the time to build, & second what to do with it when done.   But it is cool and very tempting.

    It looks amazing, and I am very keen to get it althoigh it will only be able to be displayed temporarily in our house before being packed away for a while. I'm going to wait for double vip and first Christmas set giveaway. I'm just hoping it isn't 'out of stock' during that time... Anyway... for those that have built it, how difficult is it to move it once built?

    Not moved it yet!  Plan on putting it on a bay window with a mirror behind it so we can see the interior.  It is very tall, so planning on doing a little dismantling but this should be straightforward as it kind of goes together in 3 large sections.  Will report back when done.  

    Also currently investigating lighting options so that a light glows through the windows.

    Check out the jangbricks review on YouTube, he shows you can separate it into 3 sections for moving/storage.

    Ideally two would be fab wouldn't it, so you could perhaps make it hinge open... getting just the one copy for me seems like a pipe dream though so I couldn't imagine getting two!

    Thanks, will do. Just will have to wait until no kiddos around as I am trying to keep this one a secret so it can be a really big surprise on Christmas Day. Wish me luck!!! It's difficult to keep these things secret for long with only one ipad for the family to share and browser ad tracking everything!!

    Well I guess they wouldn't make it impossible to move would they, as a lot of people wouldn't be able to build it in situ.

    @WhiteDove You might know this already, but just in case: If you use private browsing in your browser for these type of "research", there should not be anything for the ad tracking feed from.
