Does anyone else "pace" or "restrict" themselves to builds...... Tonight I will mostly be building approx. 1/4 of set.....http://brickset.com/sets/76047-1/Black-Panther-Pursuit My budget doesn't stretch to a set a day.... so some larger sets I make last 10 days...... A bit of building and normally a minifigure a day is my reward

@Lego34s  I'm generally really bad at pacing myself.  I have done that somewhat with a few larger sets.  But even a number of those I finished in a day or at most two.  Probably a good idea though as you have more Lego building enjoyment over a few more days.   I think I will start to rebuild some of my smaller sets and certainly will do so with my 3 in 1 sets.  Have mostly only built the one version of those that I own so far.  That will give for a few more building days.

@Lego34s Sometimes I will put on a TV show in the background and build while the show is on, moving my attention between the LEGO and the show depending on what's happening on the TV. When the show is over, I pack everything up and do something else. Otherwise, I might just sit and build for hours on end.

Well I would think so unless you are moving out to leave space for your Lego!

Very productive evening sorting through my poorly arranged stash hunting for pieces to build @iso3200 Hover Scout set. Pretty pleased to find a third of the parts and put two BL orders for the remainder.  should start building next week with luck.

Well I would think so unless you are moving out to leave space for your Lego!

in years past i have had more stuff in my room then you would believe.
hell one side of my room was stack with what i called the wall of junk, it was 3,ft deep, 8,ft wide and 7,ft tall.
and yes i did have stuff fall down from time to time.
what i lack is display space.
and i just had a idea.
i need to think about it but i may have just had a killer idea on how to make room for more stuff.

  • tallblocktootallblocktoo Member Posts: 497
Yeah not sure I would be as excited about buying the amount of Lego you do if I had no display area.  Would be just continuously tearing down what you built to build something else.   I do some of that already as I just don't want Lego everywhere.

i just killed myself. well 87% killed my self. (i am typing this laying down on my bed with the laptop on my lap. trying not to move my in pain from over use body.)
on the good side i now have a nice place to put a new bookcase. when i get a round to getting it.
(moved my bed, use to sit in one corner of the room now is in the center of the room
with the head of the bed on one of the side walls.) i have to hop over the bed to get to the other side of the room but i can live with that. (i done it before.)
thanks to @tallblocktoo for the idea. also thanks to @tallblocktoo i will send you the bill for my replacement body.
    (maybe painkillers will help.)

Started sorting and organizing my LEGO instructions today. Got all the big ones (and accompany smaller ones) in a Sterilite file box; thing is heavy as a pile of bricks :-)

Tomorrow will be stopping at Target to grab a smaller box for the small instructions.

What do you use to store/safe your instructions?

@JooTog - I currently use an Ikea document box, but it's bursting at the seams and needs a more sturdy replacement:

That plastic box you use looks really good. Have to find a UK equivalent...

@JooTog. You have to remember that instructions are basically a lump of wood, plus some ink and clay. So more than 1 foot cubed (30.48cm cubed) will be quite heavy. :)

A room tidy up means I've managed to get three of the Really Useful Box 11 drawer towers stacked together for a rainbow storage solution. The towers seem to come up every year at Hobbycraft @20% off for a short while so I have been slowly accumulating them. Two are for my pre '88 Technic collection, the other will be for other loose Lego.

To divide the drawers up, I'm using double depth business card storage holders which are an OK fit inside, even if they mean you can't utilise all of the space. A double stack of the lids opens up a few extra opportunities where the number of components is small and makes the most of buying the boxes.

I suppose that makes my Lego status for today 'Sorting'

Its nice to focus on something else even though doing it is now going to be harder for us. Now just to hope people (both guests and afols) come along :)

Here's my haul from Brickfair VA. This doesn't even include what I bought, just stuff I won/got for free/ got from the gift swap.

It helps that I showed up to way more games than I got into, and won Stock Sumo and the GBC Beginner Challenge.
If you watch the Beyond the Brick video of the GBC, I guarantee you will see my modules...

One of the most fun parts was trading a Hero Factor set for a Bionicle and Star Wars set to a Bionicle fan who had just stolen the two sets from me... ;)

What do you all think- was it worth if for the $60 registration?

Here's some pics of loose parts I bought from the Classic Plastic Bricks vendor. I can't give an exact price on them, as I bought a bunch of sets as a lot, but I spent ~$300 total from him.

That moment when you decide "Actually, yeah, I am going to buy an $10 large Pick a Brick cup of parts from this guy."

And the moment when you try to figure out if you can pop the frame off of the door and put in clear "glass." Anyone had any luck with that?

And just random extra windscreens and such

Here's some pictures I got of my GBC modules while I was there. (I think @Huw requested them at my train on an incline topic)

I apologize for my poor photography skills and lack of time there for better pics.

I tried to go for a town layout, but I forgot the bag that held the minifigs and accessories at home (as well as my Vignette, minifigs to trade, and other stuff to show around for kicks and giggles) :(

Just got back from the Lego Discovery Center in Somerville, MA. My son and I have annual memberships now so I'm trying to take him enough times to make it worth it. Has anyone else been to this Discovery Center, or perhaps another one nearer you? I'm not sure how many similar centers are located around the world. I might be able to post pics later, including the Lego Cheers set that plays the theme song when you press a button.

Putting together my Scurrier army. I've given the black ones different coloured horns and tails but can't decide which colour I like best.

@msanders Cool! Have to say, didn't like the nexo theme to begin with and don't know anything about the story line but have to say the sets are pulling me in. (My 6 year old has something to do whith it too I'm sure).

Re your black monsters, I think the gold or plain black ones look the best actually.

@msanders Nice army! I don't follow this theme at all, but all those little evil dudes together look great!
For the black ones I think these look  most evil with the black horns. If that's the look you are aiming for ;)

@MaffyD I used a similar accordion document holder years ago on my first, brief comeback from the Dark Ages. For this second comeback I've been a bit out of control and the amount of instructions laying around was getting messy (to put it lightly). So I figured stackable boxes were the way to go :-)

@Recce I was looking at smaller boxes today and probably will go for a similar approach for my medium and small instructions to optimize space. BTW, your box with the orange lid looks exactly the same as the boxes I used as a kid to store LEGO parts; one box per color... ah, memories :-D

    Thanks for sharing!

    @JooTog

I sorted my instructions in the beginning of the year in these. Glad I did it, because now I can find instructions much quicker when I need one. Bought it on amazon and even though it was a lot of money in one go, well worth it.

so i have the GBHQ waiting to be built. but no place to build it.
i going to have to tidy up my build table, sort out my display space, and relocate my spare parts/MOC/free build stock.
that is not a 5 min job, it going to take me a long time.
    but 1st i will need a plan.
and that part has me the most stumped.

@Lego34s I tend to build an hour a night on a big set. I made the Technic 911 last two weeks. I have a friend who works at at a snails pace. The smallest City sets can take him two or three days!

Today's status. Came home to a note from the postman to say that I have five parcels waiting with with neighbour. Must be my BL orders already.........They are currently out for the day!
