Suppose it could be worse, I could be walking through graveyards at night with nothing but aching feet and legs and still getting over man-flu. Yep I have it pretty good.
A relatively comfortable walk there but struggled during the second half of coming home. No, that's not true. Right foot and knee ache but hopefully can do something to regain some muscle and strength in them quickly. I'm sure that's the problem. New sock liners worked a treat so no more blisters between my toes.
Oh and made some new friends today too.
But then I've got Disney on the brain (can't expect much else from Snowhitie...)
You see Trolls have hair!
And now......

I can't really relate to this because no one in my family has passed away of cancer but my mom is a radio-oncologist (she treats cancer with radiation). She has seen some people pass away, but it's not as bad as being an oncologist – a doctor who uses chemo to treat cancer - which is usually the last option so they see more people pass away.
Anywayyys, good luck with your walk and your fundraiser for the Hospice!

Back on sale now for just £1 each.
Well done and thank you. :)
This has been a great community event and has brought out the best in a lot of people.
I wish every member who entered the best of luck in the draw, providing they win after me :p
At first I wanted to give a Furry Creature set in remembrance of my wonderful bunny Binx, whom passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago. But couldn't work it out.
So instead, I would like to donate a Superhero polybag pairing of DC Martian Manhunter (5002126) and Marvel Hulk (5003084).
Good luck to everyone!!
The only time cancer has touched my family is when my dog had to be put down as she had stomach cancer too.
It it is fantastic how this forum rallies around good causes and hearing all the stories about people's experiences with cancer both saddens me and make me want to help other people out who may be in the same situation.
Well done James for organising this and kudos for accepting the big challenge.
I have plans to build alternate VW Campers so bought a new one earlier in the year but I grabbed a couple of used one from the marketplace. With it just sitting under the table it isn't being appreciated so id like to offer a new, boxed #10220 VW Camper to the ever growing list. Ill cover the shipping though if you're out of the EU, it'll probably be cheaper for me to grab one from [email protected] and send it on, unless the winner is fine with it being unboxed.
Keep up the good work.
You're doing great work, especially through all of the hardship. I really respect people who do good things for others, and you're doing something wonderful and it's inspiring that something so altruistically beautiful can rise out of sorrow.
And I really have to say I enjoy your photos and remarks from your walks. It makes me want to get out and walk at night, except there are bears and coyotes in my village, and it's a bit scary. :)
My wife and kids have decided to bring me away on holiday for a week at the worst of times and to somewhere without WiFi or 3g/4g. How inconsiderate. Managed to find a Hotspot whilst out 'somewhere'.
Thank you all and I will be back.
Didn't mention it earlier because wasn't sure if it would be appropriate, but as so many others have shared their stories, I will, too. Lost my Mum to the Big C many years ago, when I was just a young chap, but still painful to think about to this day. You really do have my sympathies - as does anyone else affected by this horrible disease.
I also had a serious operation earlier this year after 6 months' agony... I wish you the very best of luck with your walk and hope the leg holds up!!

Not wishing to hijack James thread with my own musings, but briefly, after my father passed away from his cancer I found solace in building and developing the Hover Scout.
I'm not much of a MOCer but this kept me going every evening, trying things out, sourcing parts, and learning the software to produce the instructions. Lego was something I was able to fall back on, as was this forum of wonderful members. It was never intended as an Ideas project, but my secret santa who got a copy, and my kids both suggested I put it on there. Again, the project then helped me escape the sadness of my mothers death just before Christmas. Sending it out for reviews etc was a diversion from life and gave me another focus.
So it seems apt to give back to the forum, and a charity cause at the same time. And this MOC seemed to fit. Well, that and the fact that I have a shedload of parts for it ;-)
I was also lucky enough to go on the Brickset Billund trip - which is where I met James in real life. The Billund trip was really for me to do something fantastic and draw a line under all the shit that had happened over the last few years.
So to celebrate that as well, if we can smash the figure even further to £1250+ I'll also throw in a #4000016 Billund Airport set to the prize pool.
So dig deep Bricksetters and make it happen. Hopefully James can tease us with running totals raised now and then to act as a carrot ;-)
Updated list. Sitting down?

Really, thank you everyone.
Did about 250 miles of which most of it was done with the kids arguing and fighting in the back. I reached my limit, pulled over and left them to it, "I'm walking". Got about a dozen steps down the road only to look down at my watch to find I still had 66 miles to go. "Shit". How do I not lose face here. Biggest problem was that my ankle had swelled like a balloon since my walk on Wednesday night and still is.
Had MRI scan last week but frustratingly haven't had the results back yet. Panic set in last night when I couldn't sleep through worry. Longest night ever. Woke this morning to find it had gone down a little and moreso since my visit to the chemist to pick up a couple of bumper boxes of Ibuprofen.
Didn't say before, but walked into a tree on Wednesday night - felt like I'd been axed at the time. Bit of blood but Christ did it hurt. Stupid tree. How can anyone get so injured just walking?
Intended walking to some lighthouse along the coast this afternoon with Jake the Dog but didn't make it due to the tide coming in and cutting us off. Met some new friends you don't see everyday though and never before realised I can't walk in a straight line.
Other family is joining us on Monday and wondering whether or not to ask them to bring my boots and other walking clobber but not sure I really want sand getting into them. Gets in everywhere you know.
Can't barely get a signal, but WELL DONE!
Ticket purchases scheduled for payday on Thursday :-)
