OK, how about Set 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car, sealed in its box, in mint condition, bought via an eBay auction a couple of months back, for £38.09. My max bid was more than twice that.

Haha... I have a feeling you and I could keep this thread going forever :P

My sister is always on the lookout for Lego deals for me, and she has a season pass to Disneyland in Southern CA which she uses often. She frequently stops by the Lego store at Downtown Disney, and she bought 10170 TTX Intermodal Double-Stack Car for me on clearance. As great as it is to find Lego on clearance right before the production ends, it's even sweeter when you think you missed out on it and then come to find out that your sister was vigilant for you ;)

I certainly wish my sister had snagged a few 10170 for me.......a BNSF loco pulling just 2 double stack cars looks faintly ridiculous so I could do with some multiples. Expensive set now, though, which is why it was so nice to get one at a decent price on eBay.

Two years ago on eBay, I managed to get the Cyber Strikers (a set from 1998's Technic Cyber Slam sub-theme) at a Buy-It-Now option for $19.99. Even with shipping, it was quite a steal for a MISB Technic set that had an MSRP of $49.99.

I got the BIONICLE Nui-Rama set, also MISB, at around the same time. Some may not call it a deal since I bought it for $20, but considering how old and coveted it is by BIONICLE collectors, I'm glad I took advantage of that price. Now I see MISB Nui-Ramas go for around $50 on eBay. Ouch.

Scored a MISB Shuttle Adventure for AU$130 incl. shipping from the US. Lego AU wanted $159 + $50 shipping. I was chuffed.

A little over a year ago I walked into a local Walmart and they had much of their 'old LEGO stock' for 60% off. I picked up BBB (6243) for $40.00 and the Crawler Crane (7632) for $24.00.

I still regret not picking up more of each as there were two more BBB and 4 more Crawlers left... Oh well. The Crawler is in storage and BBB is still MIB in my basement joists.

Ok, you want to brag. I picked up a buy it now 10001 and 10002 in very good condition and complete plus 10lbs loose legos for 50.00 plus 18.00 to ship. I also bought 5 lbs of loose minfig parts for 80.00 that made roughly 500 complete minfigs plus extra parts all in very good condition and the kicker is it included a complete purple jango that is worth more than I paid for the whole thing in the first place.

A few days ago I bought Atlantis set 8076 at Aldi (leftover from their Christmas stock) for $8 (MSRP $20). Today I bought the last three for the same price, $8 each. Even if I don't sell the extras, it's still a good deal for the parts. They generally have only seasonal stock of Lego (as in near a major holiday); I would recommend checking in there after major holidays, because they've had some decent discounts on what they didn't sell.

Interesting, we have an Aldi here in town but never suspected they may carry Lego...will check that out, thanks for the tip!

^I didn't either for a while. They don't carry a stock all the time, and from what I can tell it's seasonal. Right now, their stock is an Easter display with tiny turbos cars and the similarly packaged creator sets. This past Christmas they had their biggest stock, with the Atlantis set, the passenger plane, the most recent fire boat, the smallest Kingdoms set, and a Star Wars battle pack. I'm not a Star Wars fan myself, but given the popularity of the Star Wars line I was mildly surprised that the battle pack was one of the two that they had plenty of left over after the holidays (the other being the Atlantis set I bought). They had both sets for quite a while afterwards.

Just got Fort Legorado off ebay for $60 shipped. I was pretty happy being the only bidder. Plus the seller was new and had 0 feedback so I figured that was why no one bid. Some other good ebay buys was 50 lbs for $100 shipped. Right place at right time for a buy it now as he had 5 10 pound lots just listed so I snagged them. Another was the seaport with the 2 ships I grabbed for $35 with buy it now. Said it wasn't complete but by looking at the pic he posted I saw nothing. Ended up just missing the gray plates connecting the bases.

@Bluefox1966: Bravo! This is exactly the type of post I was hoping for in this thread :)
Assuming they are complete or near complete, 10152 and 10177 have a value above $100 USD each; 10159 City Airport and 4563 Load & Haul Railroad (which I can identify from the pics) are around $100 each. That means you are well on your way to justifying what you paid, and that is just a tiny portion of 70kg.

    That's a really great find!
Are you keeping it all? Or selling on what you don't want.
You could justify the price then if you sold what you're not interested in. (If you're not interested in the HP then I would be)

My wife came up trumps a while ago at a local charity shop.
Hogwarts Castle (4709), Chamber of Secrets (4730) and Scuderia Ferrari Truck (8654) for £6 each. She asked me if she should get them, "YES!". Ferrari set hadn't even been made up - stickers still in their packets.

Just picked up 2 6754 Family Home at TRU BOGO sale. Sill one left!
  • TalasAntaresTalasAntares Member Posts: 124
While it certainly pales in comparison to what has been posted prior in this thread, I was pretty stoked to get 2 copies of 4195 (Queen Anne's Revenge) at the TRU bogo sale. Even if I did have to take a 45-minute ride up to Green Bay's TRU to get them. The Appleton store was already out of them...
Looks like I will have to start hitting resale shops for Lego deals.

Last year on eBay I randomly found a used bulk lot mere minutes away from ending... Included they had:

    Knights Kingdom:
    8877 Vladek's Dark Fortress
    8777 Vladek Encounter
    8780 Citadel of Orlan
    8875 King's Siege Tower

    PoP:
    7569 Desert Attack

    Castle:
    10193 Medieval Market Village
    7048 Troll Warship

And a whole lot of other Knight's Kingdom goodies.

2 minutes til the end, I placed a bid of $480 Australian, and to my surprise I won the whole lot for $220 Australian!!!!

The whole lot was worth thousands, and best yet they were in mint condition!!!

A few weeks after receiving all this, out of the blue they send a huge bag of weapons, armour, minifigs, accessories etc, with just a note saying "Found these while cleaning up and realised they probably go to the sets you won" - they were all parts to even more KK sets, and nothing to do with my lot....

I almost had a heart attack... Most would just sell them for more!

My best mate is still terribly bitter about this... I remind him every chance I get :-)

I went car booting yesterday and found a large plastic tub of Lego minifigs (around 50) all priced up at around 80p to a £! so i asked for a price for the lot and his GF said £3 but he said that was too low so i quickly said £5 and it was accepted. Also added a load of horses and a bundle of Instructions sheets, Got a loads of Knights minfigs and horses plus some Star wars minifig and a dewback, plus a bona fett head piece. He also had a few bionicle set which i got for 50p.

Not had much time to look through it properly yet.

This has renewed my interest in car boots.

i got a huge lot of 2004-2005 bionicle - bits and pieces, no boxes, no instructions, but it was all for 25 bucks. im still in the process of trying to ID everything. this makes up for missing the "35pounds of lego for $100 - includes star wars and castle" listing on craigslist a few months back.

my boys have discovered bionicles and these are for xmas and birthdays.
