    Was updating my minfig collection and noticed I could not find Sensei Wu that came with DK book - Secret World of the Ninja. Book is in the database either. Do you need me to take pictures?
     Although I am not good at rendering or anything, I willing to try.

    Could we add 852814 'Blue Spaceman Key Chain' 2010 please. There are three versions of this key chain but this particular unit has '...in space since 1978' on the ring card.

    We don't add all that sort of tat unless it gets sold at s@h, when it gets added automatically.

    Another Australian TRU build & take promo, a kayak, the instructions are branded with the Lego CITY logo. The event was the Saturday just gone, October 17th.

    Today I noticed that a bunch of No Starch Press books were added to the Brickset database in a brand-new "Books" . I have mixed feelings about this. I know these books are generally high quality and that several of them are geared specifically towards AFOLs. But they are technically not LEGO products or even LEGO-licensed products.

    Meanwhile, some officially licensed book series in the database, like the Bionicle books, are rather incomplete. The criteria for which books appear in the database at all seems to be mostly based on what's appeared in catalogs or on LEGO.com, which results in an extremely eclectic selection. Bionicle chapter books, activity books, guide books, and a 2006 Bionicle annual are listed, but Bionicle graphic novels are not. All the Bionicle Chronicles and Bionicle Adventures chapter books are listed, but Bionicle Legends #6–11 are missing. And LEGO Ninjago books (besides the DK guide books) are not listed at all, not even the activity books, guide books, and this year's annual which include physical minifigures.

    Does the new "books" category indicate that Brickset is intent on expanding its focus to include more LEGO books, and if so, by what criteria? Will books currently listed as "Gear" be moved to the new "Books" category? Will ISBN numbers become the new standard for identification of LEGO books, or will books which have product numbers on shop.LEGO.com or in LEGO catalogs continue to use those numbers? If you need any help figuring out what books are missing from the database or how to organize them I'd be happy to help out.

    @Aanchir, I'm glad you asked...

    The plan is to move books out of 'gear' and to add all 'LEGO books that are likely to be of interest to AFOLs' to the database, regardless of whether they are officially licensed or not. With a few obscure exceptions I've just completed this, except for DK books.

    Yes, I do plan to use ISBN numbers to reference them, which then makes it possible to link through to Amazon, although that is not without its problems given the likes of DK publish multiple versions: the US English version has a different number to the UK English one, for example.

    The Gear/Books section contains books that were sold at shop.LEGO.com plus a few others that contain bricks or minifigs.

    So, yes, it's very incomplete for story books and other kids books and to be honest I would be happy removing them from the database given they are of limited interest and are very difficult to maintain given the number of them: just look at Amazon to see all the thin paperback story or comic books, some with minifigs on the cover, that are being released nowadays.

    However, if someone was to step up and take charge of this aspect of the database and help build a comprehensive list of them then I'd happily reconsider.

    I am happy to reinstate Bionicle etc. ones but only if I can get a comprehensive list.

    So in the database they are called collectable minifigures, but they seem to be collectible minifigures on the lego site (although they don't actually call them that, they refer to them as collectibles) and elsewhere.  Not really sure it's wrong or which one is actually right), but from an SEO point of view collectible doesn't get you any hits @Huw ('collectible minifigures' doesn't see you on any of the first three pages on google).
    Thoughts?

    In British English both spellings are now considered correct, though 'collectables' was the original spelling.

    I always though collectible was the noun and collectable was the adjective. I always use ible for cmfs, that seemed correct until I noticed on the database. I thought ible came first, I'm sure that's the one I was taught at school at least. Ah well.

    Having studied Latin, "collectible" tends to make more sense to me, since "colligere" is a third conjugation verb, and the Latin suffix "-abilis" originally applied only to first conjugation verbs. But looking at the etymology of the word "collect" on Wiktionary, before coming to English it took a detour through Medieval Latin in which the word "collectare" WAS a first conjugation verb. Learn something new every day, I guess.

    Apparently American English favors the spelling "Collectible", which might be another reason it's the spelling I'm most comfortable with. It's just one of many American English spellings that makes more sense to me than their British English equivalents after studying Latin and Spanish. I wonder if the similar spellings between American English and these languages is a result of early American trade with Spanish colonies, or a result of American English lexicographers being biased towards Latin spellings.

    @Aanchir - I fall on the opposite side of the argument. The OED definition of the word 'collectable' (or 'collectible') is 'able to be collected' which indicates that the suffix 'able' is more appropriate than 'ible'.

    Having said that, as a current Classics student I cannot fault the logic of your comment :o)

    Interestingly, the competition's website (lego.co.uk/citygiantpack) does not seem to exist (competition ends on 30. April 2016), and the other advertised link lego.co.uk/city redirects to a domain for sale...

    I have a feeling what happened was that it originally referred to something that was able to be collected, and hence was collectable - effectively most things are collectable. Then somebody went out, relatively recently, and created collectibles - sets of things that were intended to be collected - although I think the term itself came into use even later still.

    With a subtle difference in meaning and only a slight difference in spelling, the distinction was quickly lost.

    How is Scooby Doo listed as a part but not a minifigure in the Scooby Doo sets?
    Sure he's a dog but he's also the namesake of the darn series not to mention he gets minifigure treatment with different expressions in his face.

    I was wondering if there is an interest in showing the original alternative builds of the sets in the database. When I collected Lego in the 90s, most sets had a few alternative builds depicted on the back of the boxes. As a kid, I used to cut out the back of each box as a refrence for building alternative builds later.

    Now that I started to be interested in Lego again, I found a whole folder with those cutouts of alternative builds and didn't see them anywhere online. If there is an interested to add this to the database, I would scan those.

    This could be stored under the "additional builds" section of a listing, right?  I know there's no pictures there now, but could we put them there?  (If not, then Images would be the logical place...) Unless there's a storage/bandwidth issue with adding these to the database, I support the suggestion.

    Is there any way to add RRP for the Comic Con sets? I know the two that I purchased (SDCC2015-2 Dagobah) and (SDCC2015-3 Superman) were $39.99 each, and that info's not on the list of My Sets.

    I was looking at the Elves theme this morning and saw a poly that the notes say available with qualifying purchases on s@h April 2016. Doesn't say which market and not the UK or US. Is this a mistake or where was it available? Maybe a promo LEGO changed their mind on?

    The #30375 promotion began just five days ago in the United States and runs through May 8, according to the April 2016 LEGO Store Calendar. If you made a purchase before the 25th it wouldn't have included that set.

    Haven't seen the UK LEGO store calendar for this month so can't testify to when it might be released over there.

    Thanks. Do you have scans of the paperwork? I think the line has to be drawn somewhere and without it I don't think they really qualify as sets for the database.

    I can scan the Nexo Knights ones in, unfortunately the TRU ones are black and white photocopies. Couldn't get the one for the friends wishing well, but there is an older version in the database, #WISHINGWELL-1, from 2013.

    Are lego activity books (actually more like magazines) which include blocks in scope of the database? @Galactus mentioned a few on the first page of this thread, but I can't seem to find those particular items in http://brickset.com/sets/theme-Books/.
    My daughter got one of those activity books as well. Just 13 blocks, with a magazine called "Lego Friends: Grand Plans" (EN) / "Lego Friends: Grote Avonturen" (NL) / "Lego Friends: Grand Projets" (FR). The French cover below comes from a reseller website, the photo with building instructions and colophon are mine (just low quality snaps with my camera for now). The colophon lists the model number as "LEA-104", produced by AMEET Sp. z.o.o. under license from the LEGO group, and JP Publishing as the publisher. I'm pretty sure this is the same publisher as Juniorpress Magazines mentioned by @Galactus earlier. Let me know if there is interest, and if so, what details and format will help you most.

    ^^ No, we don't record those books, there are too many, no way to keep track of them all and they are of limited interest to the site's main audience.

    New Ninjago battle pack: 853544.

    EDIT: Nevermind, I see that it was just added. :) But 853544 is the correct six-digit number. The seven digit number is just an alternate SKU like all sets have.

    I just noticed the Brickset database doesn't list extra alternate/combi building instructions, even though they are listed on LEGO.com (you can even filter by sets with extra building instructions). I'm talking about things like combi models from Bionicle/Hero Factory, Mixes/Maxes/Murps from Mixels, vehicle builds from LEGO Dimensions, etc. Is there any way to add these?

    Just noticed these in an oddball Scala/Belville catalog from 1998.  I'm not sure the intended audience, but there's 5 languages on there (German, English, French, Italian, Swedish), and explicitly mentions UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Denmark (for credit card payments).

    #3244 - supposedly not released? (and no image)

    #3205 - no image

    Not sure if these are acceptable images for the DB-- I found a few other instances of 3205 and 3204 in other catalogs, although none of the pictures are all that great.  Do we know anything about why 3244 showed up in a catalog but wasn't released?  Or is the note in the database possibly incorrect?

    3244 isn't listed at BrickLink which is usually a good indication that none have been sold there and a google image search throws up only the catalogue image, so all the evidence suggests that it was never released.

    They must've got pretty close though. BrickLink only lists the arch as being available in White or Medium Yellowish Green. However, there was an Element ID (4114772) for it in Light Yellow. Perhaps there are a few crates of them sitting around in a warehouse somewhere.

    Uploaded all the LXF files & PDFs of instructions for the make & take promos I've mentioned previously. I would have created instructions for all of them using Blueprint, but my laptop can't run the version needed for one of the Direct-X components, so if someone else wants to give it a shot, feel free.

    Just noticed that #30396 is being offered as a free polybag with any purchase 30E or more in France per Lego Store flyer (http://stores.lego.com/fr-fr). It is also part of a UK promotion (25+ pounds).

    It is listed to have been only available in CZ, DK, and UK.

    Not sure if books of this type are normally added to the database, I bought it for the really cool illustrations - and because it's a sort of a Nexo Knights Monster Manual. It's not yet available from S@H.
