What's your LEGO 'status' today?

Fancy doing a Jakku moc, just thinking about scale. Minifig (ish) scale would be awesome but lacking bricks and space so thinking micro fighter scale with a crashed star destroyer background. also playing about with lighting up some models. so many ideas, so little time!

Went up into the loft to get some older sets I had put away to find there is a wasps nest up there, urgh! Was too scared to get my sets now, as ask made a hasty retreat one of the little buggers stunk the back of my leg. Moral of the story never wear shorts when you are around wasps.

Bricksetters talking about fun in the park talked me in to ordering it, especially when I was looking for something to get the retro castle promo.
Got a bricklink order, calculated the shipping cost right away, forgot to actually send the invoice. Not the first time I've done that.
About to go to Target for a bunch of clearance items to part out. I still have a bit of a job lot left to list form weeks ago.

It's very handy to be able to take out the small subdividers, because if you find you've got more of a particular part than you thought, you can just double the space you allot to it. I got them in order to sort the smallest pieces - at the moment I'm using them for any non-brick element that is 2x2 or smaller, and for bricks in 2x1 and 1x1 sizes. I probably won't use them for larger plates and bricks, but they're perfect for all the tiny bits. I could see them being very useful for minifigs too.

i can reccomend those too! "bauhaus" and "obi" have those boxes for 6€ a piece.

Welcome back @rancorbait, I was actually just thinking about you the other day and where you'd possibly got to. Good to see you back! :o)

As for my own status, mine is slowly working on my next BIONICLE review for Brickset. Can't decide on which Beast I want to write about first, I'm torn between wanting to write about Storm Beast's fun little puppet function or absolutely tear Lava Beast's rubbish lower legs to shreds with words, as both are fun to write about in their own way. Between this and recently being promoted to Action Figures Regulator over on Eurobricks, I've got a lot to keep me busy... or a lot to procrastinate on as it's looking at the moment! :oP

I advise jeans, a long sleeve shirt and jacket, and a vacuum or two. If you have to go up a ladder or stairs, you might consider strapping the vacuum to you Ghostbusters style.

I prefer the heavy-stream wasp spray. With some careful aim, you can drown them in the spray from 15 feet away.

And it has a slightly sweet smell. But don't breathe in the fumes. (Unless you are a lawyer or pharmacist.)

^Are you saying it smells good? Looks like I am off to the store to buy some wasp/hornet spray. I don't even have any nests...I will just walk around the neighborhood asking people if I could kills their nests for them ;)

I'd be inclined to call exterminators - better safe than sorry! We've had a couple of scary experiences with them back when we were renting and were very glad not to have to deal with the wasps personally. It's awfully bad luck to have them in the vicinity of your Lego. :(

@bendybadger did I have anything to do with this trip to the wasps?I'd call the firebrigade, wasps are vicious.

As my own status - having an afternoon of family building, we just fit around the table ;)

My husband was very pleased with his birthday set and I managed to surprise him with an extra #40153 with a Leia inside, he'd never seen it before so that was a bonus!

i can see 3 set's and name 2 but i am a little lost on the one that is top right.
i have a guess but i am only 60% on it.

got to a lot of stuff that I had put off for awhile.
sorted the yellow and reddish brown from a job lot I picked up weeks ago. still have light and dark bley to go.
sorted through my DUPLO tub. separated other brands. washed the baseplate and some particularly dirty bricks. keeping the figures and special pieces, but selling many of the regular blocks. keeping something for young houseguests to play with.

Unboxing, sorting and rebuilding the bulk of my collection after a big house-move. Most recently I'm been rebuilding my Parisian Restaurant and Detective's Office with the help of my four-year-old. I'm amazed at how focused, motivated and capable she is (and it's great daddy-daughter bonding time too)! Also opened the first of ten crates of miscellaneous sets. This one mostly had City aircraft and helicopters missing various rotor blades, tail-pieces and under-carriages (now mostly reunited with their components). Crate also contained largely disassembled airport terminal, fire station, medical centre, and Mos Eisley Cantina! The genuine joy of re-creation is ahead!

Funny little story. These last few weekends the wife and I have been working on some landscaping projects around the yard (adding some edging to the front, new path to the back yard and a paver patio in the back). One of the things we were talking about was a tree close to our deck that needs to be taken out. Easily a project I can handle but she said she would rather hire a person to do it. I told her it would probably cost around $500 minimum to do and it wasnt worth the money. She was a little instant that we hire someone, at this point I said that I would much rather spend that money on LEGO. So I actually got her to agree that if I take out the tree then I get $500 to spend on some sets :)

The tree isnt very big at all. It's a tall (maybe 20') aspen and at its thickest maybe 7'' diameter. Though it does have 3 or 4 bunched together but I can cut them down individually.

So now I just need to decide what to spend the money on. Bricklink one (or more) of the retired modulars maybe? or get another of the current ones to MOC? :)

I've just had a couple of nice packages delivered to me at work...

Firstly, #9469 Gandalf Arrives, secondly, two extra #10700 32x32 Green Baseplates, which will be used for my summer Minecraft project and also for expanding my modular display with some parkland and funfair areas, plus later as baseplates for this year's WV display and, finally, one #10701 48x48 Grey Baseplate. I have no idea what I'm going to use that for, but I wanted one, so there... ;-)

Sumo, Are you saying we should poison all the lawyers and pharmacists? What a novel idea! I agree with you on the lawyers part (having tried to practice law for a year) but am a bit puzzled as to the pharmacists' inclusion. Might you have an ex-wife who is a pharmacist? (My ex was a physician, so you can include them as well.)

I agree that that super wasp spray is a real killer. We have serious wasp problems every year and end up spraying them or we can't go outside. Have you seen those huge European hornets? For a month, we could not use our front door. Maybe the military should enlist them as their latest lethal weapon.

They definitely keep us from playing with our LEGO outside, which is a bad idea anyway with all the dirt and sun.

Huge European hornets? Are you sure that is what they are? We recently got Cicada Killers where I am in NY. They are huge and scary as where you expect them to come from, but actually harmless.

Finishing the next to last cleanup batch of my old LEGO sets, the ones full of dirt, grime, and dry grass. It's been an odyssey; more time consuming than anything, especially having to hand pick the pieces and clean them with a toothbrush...then 'whitening' them (which would work better if I had the time to do smaller batches), and drying. The only few pieces left are the ones with printouts in them and some especial pieces (is there a way to get the shiny helmet face shiny again? From the old Astronaut/Moon Walker sets).

During this odyssey, I have come to realize how many sets (small, of course) my parents used to buy me...I have also been able to record the sets that I have even if they are not complete anymore (I'm looking at you Islander Catamaran). I have also realized that I have no pirate boats, no sharks, and no palm trees.

Hopefully I can finish this big undertaking before the end of the month, so that I can finally start taking photos with the sets and new and old figures, which was my main goal.
