I am going to try and make my way over to the VCC target tomorrow or Tuesday, they are typically so slow in putting them out though.

Went to a local Target to check for sales/clearance to find Raptor Rampage going for $54.99. Fun times.

    Reminds me of The Wire.
    The dope dealers used burners.

Unlike Walmart, I do not think I have found any Lego sets on sale/clearance. Other items yes (Daredevil Pop shirt, backpack, other toys), but not Lego. :(

2 #41104 which I price matched to their website at $18.99 each
Will go back for some #41093 tomorrow. Easier and quicker than ordering online. What the store has controls my budget, useful even when buying to resell. Also, I have a 41093 coming from the sale last week.

  • paulmisonpaulmison Member Posts: 39
I tend to use free order pickup to get the online price at physical Target stores. It's good if you don't like having to talk to people to get a price matched, although I have received a slightly scruffier box than I'd like, and the stickers they put on to reserve the boxes can be a bit tricky to remove.

I do the same thing but the customer service people no me pretty well so I get my boxes nice and clean and free of those stickers.

Got 2 #41093 yesterday, funny since a salon model is about the last thing I'd build myself, but still a cheap parts pack and a different minidoll.
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
Any reason why the series 13 packets are $4.89? I would think they would be cheaper, but no.
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^ That's an issue at Targets all over the place. They have them near the registers for more for some reason. Go to the customer service desk and ask if they can make them the true price. It may not work, but it never hurts to ask.
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,241
^ There is a premium for an item to be in the 'impulse' section near the registers.

My local Targets recently moved all of the polys and old, old CMFs off of the registers - but no clue where they went!

(Unless someone really wanted to clear out the Chima polys, and CMF S13.)
  • ryjayryjay Member Posts: 1,006
^ I noticed that, too at a few Targets...all the polys have been taken away, and not sure where they went.  And any of the newly released CFM over the past year have only been at the electronics counter in back.
  • LegogramLegogram Member Posts: 321
The polys disappeared for awhile at my target stores, but were back as of my most recent visit.  They have never had CMF near the registers.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,354
I see CMF's in the toy section at the end of an aisle but an aisle away from most of the LEGO. The few polybags I've seen have been scattered in random places.

  • 77ncaachamps77ncaachamps Member Posts: 2,442
Check for CMFs in the trading card section, hanging on pegs
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
Yes, there were some in the tradings cards section next to the registers, which makes sense in its own way. I still think they're overpriced, but that's what I get for getting into them late in the game.

So I am used to buying lego sets at Target and price matching them to Amazon, but the last couple times I went in, they said they have changed their price match policy and no longer price match anything on Amazon with the "Prime" marker (which most of the time just means that IF you have prime, that item qualifies for the free 2 day shipping).  I asked what they DO price match on Amazon, and they said only items that are not marked as Prime and not marked as 3rd party, which between the two is pretty much everything on Amazon.  Both times they tried to say that the Prime symbol meant that it was a special price only for prime members, which isn't true, they do sometimes offer special prices for prime members, but that is called out in a separate box that specifically says that.  I tired explaining that, and they just shrugged their shoulders and said they have new restrictions on the policy.  So there goes that, I will just have to order trough Amazon and wait two days, especially since Walmart is now discontinuing price matches for Amazon too.  A shame, because most of the time, even when on sale, the deals at Target usually are not as good as the "normal" discounted price on Amazon.
  • tamamahmtamamahm Member Posts: 1,987
They are wrong. They will not match items such as free shipping or special Prime  pricing,
They are supposed to match Amazon pricing, though. Being marked with Prime does not equate to special Prime member pricing.

This is the part that seems to be confusing Target members out there, since I found others that ran into the same issue you did, and yet Target on their Facebook page a while back claims they should match it, unless one of the caveats I mentioned.

If you log out of your amazon account, it will show the same price and remove that Blue "Prime" word next to it.  I have had to show them that lately, aand explain to a few of them that the price is the same without prime.  I have however run into them not price matching and honoring coupons/cartwheel together anymore, but if you read the policy it says they won't :(

Is that like saying that you smoke less weed than Snoop Dogg? ;)

I've had no trouble getting Target to price match their own website, but they insist on looking it up themselves rather than just looking at your screen.

Thought about the 75088's, but didn't get them, not sure if it was worth it for resale, a lot of ~25% discounts are like that

Very true.  Target employees tend to care and have some level of where to go even if they don't know the answer.  Your run of the mill WM employee when dumbfounded, will tend to just throw up their hands.

Saw a bunch more on clearance today. Had to come home to research what to get, and get more money ready.

    Besides some things from @norm103 's list, also saw #41063 @ $30.78, #71302 @ $8.48 and #71301 @ $6.98

I saw one of those at $9.37.

I got 7 41063, 3 71301, a 71302 and 2 75078. The price of stormtrooper minis made 75078 seem worthwhile after all. I might go back for 70737 and 75088 when I have the money. The City sets don't seem worth it to part out, maybe the pieces aren't worth as much since they're more generic. One of the 71301 didn't have a clearance sticker, but I got it at $6.98 anyway - not sure whether it scanned at that price or the service desk worker put it in that way.

They were already linked in @norm103's post or my recent posts so I hadn't linked them again.

When I see those Target prices, In my mind that is what I think most of these set should have as MSRP in the first place.   Now a deeper discount is really the discount.

    I agree.

20% off is probably close to MSRP.

30% is a true discount, albeit still minimal.

40%> starts the bargain price territory.

Doing July 4th shopping this weekend at malls, and it's incredulous how a shirt/jeans is 50% off yet close to what you paid for jeans when they weren't on sale a couple of years ago.

Markup is the retail profit king.

Definitely true for some sets. Disney Princess has ridiculous MSRP, even higher than other licensed themes. LEGO has #41063 Ariel's Undersea Palace at $54.99. Target had it at $43.99 (more reasonable for the piececount), and $30.78 is 30% off of that.

I think I would have taken that set to the customer service counter and tried talking price down...,,"whadya trying to do  by pawning off 5 years old merchandise on us at full retail ? C'mon, you get get that down a lot more."    Worth a shot :)
