A shout out to Bricksdirect, I just got this #6753 Highway Transport. They packed this used set better than a new one. I'm looking forward to the build.
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
Went Walmart-hoping yesterday (the store that allegedly has some SW sets 50% off is more than an hour away, so I might try it this weekend) and only found LEGO Star Wars 75092 Naboo Starfighter for $13.00. I thought I would find the TIE Prototype I've been looking for (since it says it's still $9) but they had none in stock (brickseek said otherwise, but it said that the Naboo Starfighter was OOS, so go figure).

I also got some series 13 packets at Target, $4.98...which I know it's a bit steep, but after the Starfighter price, I thought it was OK.

@brumey I love that have you got an xml file with the bricklink inventory? or a link to the site where you found that.  Seen a few attempts at a minifig scale one but that look really nice

@josekalel  I believe that's RRP on the Steamroller set...so not really. It's still widely available for that price.

Yeah, worse case scenario I'll return it in a couple of days. I'd rather spend that money towards a Star Wars set or the Airport Captain America set.

I've been getting all of the Lego City Deep Sea Explorers sets, and my wife got the last one for me yesterday for my birthday. When I saw how good Jang's setup looked with just the official 2015 deep sea sets (and some base plates and a few extra plants), I was on a mission! With Amazon, Walmart, etc having most the deep sea sets under retail right now (and LEGO [email protected] having the exclusive deep sea operation base for $80 a couple weeks ago), I got the entire theme for about $254. Not bad for an entire theme with some very neat aspects.

Here is Jang's setup that inspired my deep sea acquisition disorder.
Just the undersea part seen here. There's a plane, helicopter, and very large ship with dive cage above water, which compliments the undersea part well.

Got #21031 Burj Khalifa 20% off from Amazon, The Force Awakens Deluxe Edition video game from Best Buy (so got #30277 First Order Star Destroyer polybag), the Unkar's Brute minifigure (with free Chronicle of the Force book), and The Book of Monsters book... not into Nexo Knights, but a post here said it was a fun read.

@tfranklin84 I also got the entire Deep Sea Explorers set last month because of displays like that... It'll be a while before I can put something together that even resembles an undersea diorama, but definitely looking forward to it. I've been thinking about incorporating #70413 The Brick Bounty as an underwater wreckage... Hey! Might throw #75901 Mystery Plane Adventures and call it "Bermuda Triangle MOC"... no?

Just bought Aquaman to complete my JLA line-up (7 members including Martian Manhunter, with Cyborg as a substitute for J'onn J'onzz in an extremely limited acknowledgement that the membership changes over time).

I also have Hawkman and Green Arrow, but they're not going anywhere near 'the 7'. Almost didn't buy the Javelin set because I didn't need them, but it's a cool ship.

Wonder what the most cost-effective way of getting all 7 JLA using 'full set not bricklink' sources is?

three foam Ninjago swords for my kids to whack each other with
This made me LOL, and reminisce about when my cousins and I were little kids (pre-bubble-wrap generation) and we used to whack each other with with these hard hollow plastic medieval swords until they broke (they usually snapped at the handle just underneath the cross-guard), or on of us had a busted lip, got poked in the eye or something, and ran off screaming and crying, and some adult took away all the swords and killed the fun.

    Oooh and I ordered:
    http://brickset.com/sets/40158-1/Pirates-Chess-Set
the Pirates Chess game today, and got the #40221 free Fountain set.
I really wanted this fountain set, so happy that I called [email protected] cause when I tried ordering a week and half back on-line it just did not get added to my shopping trolley. The Lego CS person told me they had run out of them a while back, but apparently today had some more in stock.

^ When I realised that I had missed the calendar freebies in January, February, March on the thee calendars I had,  got in touch with my local store, and they said they had some spare - I went in and got three duplo sets and three knight cycles just for asking. I also got 300 points, but that's because I was buying things...

I picked up the Ecto-1 & 2 set this morning, I know people are hating on the set and the movie, but I dig it. I like the faces and hair.
I'm trying to decide if I want to get myself a little belated birthday gift, but #21303 is still out of stock and I don't know if I really want #76051 or #75148 enough to spend the money.

Picked up #76057 this morning, not really into the marvel figures but I really like the bridge. Tempted to get a second one to connect them both together after seeing a post on Reddit.

Just came back from the LEGO Store with #75148 Encounter on Jakku and another promo knight set.

BTW, they had 1x1 bricks and 1x2 plates in sand green.

@ricecake I am not into Ninjago, but #70734 dragon looks really good, very tempting.

Like this theme as well. Just have to get the shipwreck set and my set will be complete. However, I tracked down an extra undersea base (just the base as shown in the picture) to make a little bigger base. Just mirrored it off the hinge piece.

I can wholeheartedly recommend #70734. Not only is it a great value even at RRP, well under 10 cents per piece, but it was designed by an AFOL (Nicolaas Vas/Brickthing). He put forth a conscious effort to pack it full of new, rare, or useful parts that he thought other AFOLs would love. It also uses some quite creative building techniques throughout, including the way the ball cups for the wings are mounted, the way the peaked roof on the rickshaw is constructed, the way the stupa/gorintō alternates System and Technic elements, and the way the arch is offset by half a stud on each side. The dragon itself is quite sizable and has 20 points of articulation.

There's a good selection of minifigures as well, though the Cole minifigure in that set is a fairly common design and will be a rehash for anyone who already has the Temple of Airjitzu.
@SumoLego not unless they go brick built.
I mean, they are already mostly brick-built — way more so than any of the dragons from LEGO Castle or The Hobbit, at any rate. The molded head pieces are kinda necessary to fit the lifelike, friendly aesthetic of the LEGO Elves characters and creatures, but they don't feel out-of-place on the curvy brick-built bodies, and have as many connection points as any of their Castle counterparts.

So if you're concerned about the building experience you can lay those concerns to rest. But if you just don't like the look of molded heads then I can understand your decision to skip the Elves dragons.

  • TheOriginalSimonBTheOriginalSimonB Member Posts: 1,780
@Aanchir - yes, the bodies do look good, I'm just not keen on the heads.  Or the one-piece wings either.  Still, I could probably create my own to fit once I run out of Ninjago ones.

And Master Wu has now been bought at £10 discount.  Making it 4.2p per piece, which I can't argue with.

Bought a couple of vintage sets this week:
    • Town Classic #600-2 "Police Car" from 1978 in excellent condition (£28)
    • and #276 "Nurse And Child" from 1977 also in excellent condition (£36)
I remember having the police car as a child. What I hadn't realised was how tiny the lego box is!
I picked up the second set to get some maxifigs for my collection. I remember having some as a child but can't remember whether I got them from a jumble sale or bought them as part of a boxed set.

I also bought The LEGO Movie #70810 "MetalBeard's Sea Cow" which I failed to pickup before it retired. The box is massive and heavy and was damaged in transit (not well packed + poor delivery) but I managed to come to a agreement with seller over a fair price reduction. I'm now looking forward to building it but I have no clue where I will be able to display it! :)
