Currently checking, sorting and cleaning pieces for the Arvo Brothers' Alien Project and hope to start building in the New Year.
i dont watch TV nor do i have any other hobbies besides collecting records, lego and be a über-nerd!
the stuff that gets my flat cluttered is just form daily living! empty bottles, empty chips bags, full ashtrays, pizza cardboards, dirty laundry, dirty drinking glasses ....
i just need to throw some trash away and do some sorting in 2016!
Cut back on spending.
Buy some modulars.
Possibly BL something.
1. Inventory my tubs
This is big one I never got to in 2015. I’ve only been inventory new tubs, but it’s the old tubs I really need to work on. It’s not difficult, just time consuming.
2. Work on my Cathedral
My current big MOC is a gothic style Cathedral. I’ve spent a fair amount of time on this in the past year, but haven’t been doing a lot of building. The issue has been the floor. The old design was not feasible, I can’t find the colors I need in sufficient numbers. Most of the work this past year has been on a new floor design and calculating the numbers needed.
3. Inventory boxes
I currently keep my boxes flatted and store them in larger boxes. But I have no idea where most of them are. A box inventory would be good do. I see this as being a major pain in rear and am not looking forward to working on this.
4. Complete incomplete sets
This past year I had a bunch of incomplete sets that I was working on complete. I finished those and promptly bought several more incomplete sets (d’oh). So I need to now work on getting those completed.
5. Inventory and organize early toys
As some of you may know I have collection of early wooden and plastic Lego toys. I’ve got enough that I should inventory what I have. And its stored all over the place. I should get these organized and stored better.
6. Finish reorganization my instructions
The major project from this past year and one that is nearly done. I have little bit left to do. At this point most of what needs to be done is to finish putting instructions into binders. I still haven’t deal with the pre-1978 instructions. Those are a minor part of my total collection and hopefully can be done quickly once I start.
7. Police and Space Police
As far as actual collecting goes, I’ve got a few 80’s Police sets I’d like to acquirer and I’d like to finish my Space Police I collection. I’m not much for a fan of Town, but there’s a few Police sets that I like. As such I’d like to try and get these. Space is also not a theme I collect much of, but Space Police was a one sub-theme I liked. I have half the Space Police sets and would like to find the rest.
In 2014 LEGO released '76023 - Tumbler' and following that in 2015 they released '5004590 - Bat-Pod.' Now problem is we have two things missing from the collection, I intend to fix that.
In 2016 my goal is to design the 'Bat' in scale with '76023 - Tumbler' and '5004590 - Bat-Pod' sets. The next one doesn't require a lot of work but I wouldn't mind owning a Bane Tumbler which would require me to purchase another '76023 - Tumbler' or Bricklink the parts if time isn't an issue and a ton of '5 - Brick Yellow' and 192 - Reddish Brown' elements.
So 2016 should be a much calmer LEGO year as we begin playing with our Duplo and my granddaughter, who is now old enough to stack them. Finally!!! I have enough sets to build to keep me busy for the next year, so purchases will be minimal except for Architecture and Friends. Time to smell the LEGO roses!
Sure. I'll take some pictures when I'm home this weekend. I designed it through LDD, so I may be able to get instructions out of that as well if you'd like them. It was the first thing I built coming out of my dark ages, so it's a tad unstable compared to the official CITY models. I plan on reinforcing it one of these days. It's technically minifig-scale, but looks a little big compared to some of the other models. Regardless, he likes it and knew what it was right away, so I suppose it came out alright.
One goal was to finally pay a visit to a brick and mortar store and see what the PAB wall was all about, I took care of that today. I didn't realize how many eyeballs I'd put into my cup... so many eyes...
well...
1. to get all the modular buildings Theme build still sold by lego at the time of this post, by july, or the end of the year
2.
to get all Nexo Knights Set's! ALL of them,!!!!
3.
Get all Ghostbusters Set's.
there my main Goals and i have lot's of little Sub Goals too.
but them are the Goals that will take the most Money.
Other than that, I want to limit buying, increase sorting and building.
-Buy a hell of lot less Lego sets!!!
-Break down all my Lego sets currently on display; another hell of a job.
-Renovate and remodel my apartment, and assign one sizeable (but still tiny) area as 'my Lego domain'.
When I am done with these things I know I can revitalize my Lego hobby once again, and get round to building the sets that I already bought such a long time ago, as well as engage in some proper creative MOC'ing again, and enjoy my Lego a hell of a lot more then I currently do with all the clutter and mess. I have slowly morphed more into a Lego-hoarder then the type of Lego-fan/collector I desire to be, and once was.
Also:
-I perhaps might also have to reduce my collection somewhat; which means considering selling some sets probably sometime in the future. After all, everything you own ends up owning you, and I sometimes feel enslaved, particularly to all the Lego I collect and posses, especially since there is no end to it, and TLG keeps churning out new sets and desirable minifigs. 'Detachment' and the 'ability of letting' go are pivotal!
-Continue to work on obtaining a better focus on the sets/themes that I do want to collect, and make my peace with passing on all the lovely themes/sets that I would like to get, but simply will not buy and collect, and without any remorse or regret over it. By doing this I believe I will also regain a new and better appreciation of what I actually have instead of what I do not have, and otherwise might covet.
I know I have got quite some work to do, and the only way I will succeed if I break it all down into small tasks, and steps.
I am also busy figuring out how to cut down and strike a new balance between my Lego 'hobby', and all the other (none-Lego-related) things in my life which are important to me and increasingly become more and more prominent. In all brutal honesty: Lego has become more of an obsession for me, with all the properties and downsides of an addiction the last +/- two years, than the nice and fun creative hobby it used to be. Luckily I have already started working on this about a month and half ago. Also being away from home a lot recently has helped, as I am busy and preoccupied with other things in life.
So my resolutions have little to nothing to do with the start of the new year. Nonetheless stumbling upon this topic started by @chuxtoybox provided the ample opportunity for jotting it all down and sharing it with all of you bricksetters for which I am very grateful.
I wish you all the best of luck and much success in achieving your own goals with regard to Lego as well as in Life!!!
1) Make substantial progress on my Modular City. (Which includes finishing a MOC walkway.)
2) Finish building a MetalBeard to complete a Lego Movie display.
3) Finish building two Harry Potter sets to complete a Harry Potter display.
4) Measured enthusiasm for new keychains, WV sets, Creator vehicles, Creator landmarks, Architecture sets, the Brick Bank, and the GBHQ. And Marvel minifigures.
5) Two of each polybag, and no more.
I reserve the right to modify this list with no notice and with a lack of perspective or consistency.
- Finish organising / cleaning parts for Arvo Alien and attempt to build it after 20+ BL orders :(
- Pare down my collection, sell duplicate sets and those that no longer interest me
- Be more selective with what I buy (this will be *the* hardest goal)
- Organise my Man Cave so it doesn't just look like an aisle in Toys R Us
- Spend more time with my long-suffering missus (I've been laid-up with various injuries for most of this year and she's been looking after me)... hmmm... probably should be 1st on the list
Happy New Year to all!!If my man cave looked like an aisle in Toys R Us, it would actually be an improvement.
I recently put a stack of minifig capes somewhere for safekeeping, which mostly means "away from my 3-year-old son." Well, they're all very safe...FROM ME. I have no clue where I put them.
Although, I found four Scarecrow keychains last week. (That part of the tags are cut-off, so my keychains snobbery prevents me from keeping them.)
I want to stay interested rather than quit again, play rather than just build and display/store, and get old models out. My spare parts are mostly sorted already. I don't want inventorying to distract from use.
I want more of Friends Pop Star to go with #30205 and #41104, and might MOC for other music.
There's a LEGO Store 17 miles from me. I'll bike there in better weather and longer daylight when I'm already a few miles in that direction.
I'll keep shopping around for this addictive plastic, and sell off what I get cheap and don't want.
Besides weather, I need to have enough spending money to make a trip worthwhile.
- With #75144 delayed until 2017 this one isn't going to happen (don't even suggest #75098 ). I did buy #75094 instead though.
- I actually moved my display to some existing shelving, so I consider this one complete.
- He's probably still not quite ready, but this will happen before the end of the year :)
How are you getting on?1, i have 3 out of 5, i still need DO and BB. (however both DO and BB may get pushed back to 2017 as i buy sets that are going to get end of line before the year is out.)
2, will on the way to doing this, from the 1st wave i only need 1 set. and have started on the wave 2 set's.
3, the Ghostbusters theme is getting bigger. i have plans to buy all of them still. just a matter of time.
my main goals are well on there way.
- building all the medieval stuff........ not yet
- Gothic cathedral... still pending
- grey bricks: I'll get around to it; lately I've been thinking more about making a castle with all the brick yellow I've acquired/will acquire with future sets I want to buy
More building: I have reorganised my schedule and I can now build a 3000+ piece moc once a month and several 100-500 piece mocs a month as well, within the same hours that I had last year.
More pieces: Now that I use Bricklink more, yes.
Less sets: Knowing what to look for in a set has made this increasingly difficult but mixels and creator sets are really useful as part packs.
Redecorate the Brickcave: Progress is slow but twitter and Adam Savage have been really good influences to show me that a work space should evolve rather than drastically change.
whenever i shop in a bricklink store i cant stop looking through all of them sections. and it always happens that i find something useless which i am goin to use in a "future moc" for sure.
