I have one closing near me. It's in Chicago, not in the best neighborhood though, but I'll check it out later today and post what I find. Any advice/tips for me or what to look for?

Look thoroughly thrpugh all the aisles...every kmart I've been to has little pockets of lego (including clearance) in three or more different places.

Just got back from the K-Mart in Chicago; found these gems. All at 40% off.

The sets and prices are as follows:

    70160 "Riverside Raid" -$7.19

    44021 "SPLITTER Beast vs. FURNO & EVO"-$10.80

    41529 "Nurp-Naut" -$2.99

    70124 "Eagle Legend Beast" -$5.99

    70130 "Sparratus' Spider Walker" -$13.80

    70801 x2 "Melting Room" -$8.99 each

    70803 x2 "Cloud Cuckoo Palace" -$13.19 each

    60041 "Crook Pursuit" -$5.09

    75034 "Death Star Troopers" -$7.79

And (in my opinion) the true gems of the haul...

I found these guys underneath a heap of My Little Pony toys.

    76020 "Knowhere Escape Mission" -$23.99

    79006 "Council of Elrond" -$16.80

There were still heaps of Series 2 Speedorz there, but I didn't pick any up. There was mostly Chima and Ultra Agents with some Lego Movie sets, Creator and City. There were no Minifigure series, no Star Wars other than a few random battlepacks, and only a handful superheroes sets. Most of the big sets were gone; there was mostly only impulse sets.

An employee had said the magic markdown day of the week is Thursday. I don't know if that's consistent for others, but I'm testing patience to hold out for 50% (will most likely be only Chima left). :)

No and No. Lots of Chima left, (some as early as 2013) Ultra Agents, City, some Lego Movie, and some battered Star Wars battle packs. There was also some Ninjago, Creator, and Nexo Knights in sporadic groups. However, I will be selling most of these sets on eBay, so feel free to check them out after I list them!

+SprinkleOtter The only Ultra Agents sets I saw were about a dozen of 70160 and a few 70163's.

I found a closing k-mart 2 weeks ago. All Toys 30% off. I heard from a family member that toys are now 40% off. Too bad I'm tapped out. :/

Stopped back in on Friday, there was no further discount but I grabbed the Race Boat since the massive stock of the 4x4 Off Roader had disappeared.

A ton of Bionicle was left. If the Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder set sticks around to 50% or more I might buy it, they had a ton of that one left.  Not too much outside of that. The Friends stuff was picked clean minus some pop star stuff, and the only Disney stuff left was the Anna and Kristoff sleigh set.

Went to a store closing nearby on Tuesday, toys are 40% off. There were about three LEGO City boxes (excavator and a submarine, I think), but the pricing wasn't good, so did not pick them up. There were a good amount of Mega Bloks, but I was not interested in any of them.

Oddly enough, there were still A LOT of the LEGO sets marketed at girls, and as tempted as I was to buy one or two, the pricing is still not that good to consider it a good buy.

Stopped in Huron, SD tonight. All toys at 50% off.
    Picked up: 10 x #30262 - Gorzan's Walker ($2.00 per)
    1 x series 14 monsters cmf
    20 x series 1 Simpsons cmfs $2.00 per)
1 x #75900 Scooby Doo Mummy Museum Mystery
    1 x #70745 Anacondrai Crusher
    1 X #70747 Boulder Blaster
    1 X #70142 Eris' Fire Eagle Flyer
1 X #41076 Farran and the Crystal Hollow
    1 X #41066 Anna and Kristoff's Sleigh Adventure
    1 X #41105 Pop Star Show Stage
    1 X #70734 Master Wu Dragon
    1 X #70748 Titanium Dragon
    1 X #70725 Nindroid MechDragon
    2 X #76037 Rhino and Sandman Super Villain Team-Up

Just a reminder to continually check these K-Mart stores. The Simpson's CMF's and #76037 were not on the store floor last time I stopped at this store. Currently all that remains on the floor at this store are Elves line sets, Chima #70142, a few large Friends sets, and Spinjitsu flyers - But that could change overnight.

Well my closing Kmart is officially cleaned out. Bionicle is left with some of the Creator monkey sets and the Frozen sleigh set, with a scarce sprinkling of Ninjago. The discount is up to 50% off. My guess is they were either cleaned out by investors or shipped to the store on the other side of town that isn't closing.

Just a note though that the price scanners in the store don't seem matched up to the registers, unless the employee enters the discount at the register. I bought a puzzle that was supposed to be 50% off but it rang up 40% off. As I was in a hurry I didn't realize until afterwards, but it was a little aggravating when I realized the price scanner price and register price were different. It was only a $1 so I didn't go back and argue it.
