@Drmnez and especially important is that none of the Dimensions figs come with shxxx designation.
Important… how? Those minifigure ID numbers are purely fan-created, and somewhat inconsistent to boot — for instance, Batman minifigures from Juniors sets are designated as Super Heroes figs, but Batman minifigures from Dimensions and The LEGO Movie sets are not. It seems peculiar to let something so arbitrary be the determining factor in whether or not you include a minifigure in your collection.

Are the Mf designations fan made? I thought they were assigned by Lego like set numbers and part numbers.

Nope, definitely not. BrickLink comes up with those all on their own. If any official ID numbers for minifigures do in fact exist, they're only used internally and the LEGO Group has never disclosed them.

That's not really very important at all, because that designation is not used internally by Lego in the first place. It comes solely from Bricklink's database. In other words, don't expect to get any sort of exception to, say, the rules against licensed fig parts being sold individually from Bricks & Pieces, because the figs are still subject to the same exact license as the non-Dimensions figures from the same licensed IP.

@Aanchir it is indeed an arbitrary number that is man-made by some authority, just like most everything else in life including words, numbers, laws, meaning, etc. In this case of minifigure code designation it would Bricklink and by affiliation Brickset.

These designations are meaningless to most people unless you're actually keeping track of the category or series. Like a Completist would need to, in order to delineate what counts and where. Hence why it would be important to myself personally as to whether or not the variant is indeed given an shxxx number or not.

An example in the other direction are the SDCC Superhero figs being given proper shxxx numbers. If you want to say that you are 'complete' on that range, then you definitely need to own the SDCC series. A bane to any completist's ambition.

Your collection is as complete as how you define it. If you choose to collect all shxxx minifigures, then yes, you do need the SDCC figs and do not need the Dimensions figures to call that collection complete. If you want to collect all RETAIL Super Heroes minifigures, then your collection can rightly be called complete without owning a single event-exclusive figure. If you want to collect all the Super Heroes figures from just one year, or just all Super Heroes figures from sets based on Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, you can do that too — and even though those collections will be a lot smaller than those listed above, then they will still be a complete set of figures according to the terms you've laid out.

All in all, "completionist" or not, there's no rule that a "complete collection" can only ever be defined in terms of BrickLink labels or categories. As long as you clearly define what it's a complete collection OF, and you have every figure that meets that definition, you can truthfully call it a complete collection!

I'm not saying the ID numbers used by BrickLink shouldn't matter at all, to anyone, ever. If that's how you choose to define your collection, more power to you, and I wish you the best of luck filling the gaps in your collection — I'm sure it's no easy task! But I think calling those ID numbers "especially important" is a bit of a stretch when @Drmnez was merely asking whether they were unique, not what theme or category they fall under.

According to thebrickfan (and a eurobricks user) the SDCC figures are:

    Marvel- Steve Roger's Captain America
    DC Comics- Atom

"This version of Captain America is the recently controversial Hydra agent version of the character. As for the Atom, it will be from Ray Palmer from the CW’s Arrow/Flash series and the Legends of Tomorrow series. This will be the second character featured from the Arrowverse as the Green Arrow was given away back in 2013."

  • Brick_BreakdownBrick_Breakdown Member Posts: 90
My gut feeling was telling me that atom was going to be the dc exclusives, interesting steve rogers captain america, I have a hard time believing the hydra captain america unless I see him. I'd love to see the old steve rogers captain america from secret wars or the comic book civil war suit steve rogers.

I think the 2013 arrow was based off of new 52 not the cw show, 2015 Arsenal on the other hand was based on the cw show.

Atom! Atom! Who the eff is Atom!  Yes, yes I know who he is.

But really, BLAH!  Captain boy scout is hardly better.  Would be nice for some exciting characters.  Fingers crossed that there will be better news to come.

@samiam391 actually, it's the third, as Arsenal was a giveaway fig too!

Will if they do those characters on that website, this'll be unprecedented because they'll have to make a custom mould for that shield and possible a mould for atoms helmet thats never been done for any prior sdcc mini figure.
  • andheandhe Member Posts: 3,909
^Or they just print the head like previous 'exclusives' (and current 'customs').

I said possible for his helmet, but they'll still need to custom mould that shield. I hope they go the extra mile and mould a helmet, but thats unlikely.

@Legopassion8 it looks alright, the colours are way to bright and need to be toned down. I think the sdcc version will look better than this one. Considering how will a job they did with Arsenal I think they'll do an equally good job with this figure.

I'm gonna laugh if that is what the sdcc figure looks like exactly =)

Lego sdcc exclusive poster, posted to twitter by a lego designer

PS. Anybody notice the chrome looking R2-D2 maybe a foreshadow to a future poly bag?

    Ooo.  Love the poster.

I have no doubt it will be a very long time before we see another chrome C-3PO.

Really liking the Star Wars poster, would love to be able to attend the SDCC one day.
Although being from the UK, I would probably vote to leave before the good stuff was handed around.

Just to clarify, I think that poster Dan Veesenmeyer posted on Twitter is something he's going to be distributing himself in the Artist Alley, not something LEGO is going to be giving away at their booth. He's also stated that the supply will be very limited. Chances are there aren't any real hints at future sets or figs there, since Dan (like most LEGO comic artists) is a freelancer and often not privy to the LEGO Group's inner workings. The "chrome" look is probably just a consequence of trying to make the domed surfaces look reflective with a limited color palette.

The Jay statue looks great, and it's good to get hints that Ninjago will be well represented at SDCC. It's noteworthy as the first SDCC teaser LEGO has officially released, so now we can probably expect a lot more news from them about what to expect in the weeks to come!

What I want from SDCC is exclusive packaging and accessories but not an exclusive minifigure. I am still waiting for a Bizarro.

@Brick_Breakdown If LEGO released a chrome R2-D2, I wouldn't even be able to imagine how much chrome C-3PO would sky rocket!

Honestly those both sound like pretty realistic expectations! Last year they did unveil the Temple of Airjitzu, after all, and Cinderella Castle seems like easily at least as good an exclusive set to reveal due to its entertainment/pop culture connections. They also revealed a Batman v. Superman set last year, so it'd make sense to see a LEGO Batman Movie set this year.

My guess regardless of the minifigures, that your completionist tendency will cause you to buy the figures anyway. So I'd start now getting your son prepared for his fast!

But the photos aren't coming out quick enough, and I cant wait!

^I'm anxiously waiting on the sidelines with you as always Obsession!

Though I'm not too keen on the 2 rumored choices of Atom and New Cap. America. I'm hoping it turns out to be false, mostly on Cap as his new costume isn't all that great.
  • Lego_FoxLego_Fox Member Posts: 12
I mainly am crossing my fingers and hoping there isn't anything I may be interested in that will be exclusive to Comic Con! However if there is something I would like to see is some new sets that will be coming out this year, or maybe some LEGO Dimensions gameplay featuring licenses that didn't quite get shown at E3 such as Sonic the Hedgehog!

I agree about the captain America, I hope that it's false. As for atom I don't mind but I'd rather have reverse flash, red tornado or black canary if they are going to do CW universe.

i guess we'll just have to wait and find out :(
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
^I'd like a Black Canary from CW universe too! She's a great character on the show. And feel she's a better match to previous SDCC years of Green Arrow and Red Arrow. Since she's more a main character compared to Atom's side story.
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,215
^ Me too, that'll ensure I won't have to buy one.
I'm hoping there isn't GotG Vol. 2 exclusive.  (I suppose I'll have to fret until next year's SDCC.)

I'd like to see some ridiculously limited minifigures that will insanely over priced in the aftermarket so that as close as i'll ever get to one is a photo on Brickset.

@Donutboy you must be talking about 2013 SDCC, where there were only 200 Black Supermans and Green Arrows given out. Prices for that year are going insane now, clearing over $800 for each.

The 2013 figures were alright I own a green arrow and superman but I prefer my zur en Arrh and Sam Wilson figures they look better! Also like the 1500 made more since it's more accessible.
