Just bought the last few Galaxy Squad sets I needed. Only missing a polybag now, but not too interested in it anyway. Suddenly got an urge to finish the theme a couple days ago.

Nothing this month or next. Saving for a modular next I think.

Edited to add: Ahh, re-read your post... Bought for MOCs... Then you've got some good pieces, but can I tempt you into trying to renovate / complete the sets? ;-)
    Either way, nice find... :-)
I'll probably end up trying to do that, since I'm already most of the way there as far as the more unique/rare parts go, between this lot and other space parts I've been buying.

I'm picking up #4642 Fishing Boat tomorrow evening, along with #4641. Cheaper than RRP of #4642 by itself, and all that's missing is the boxes.

Just bought #70146 Pheonix flyer for 50 Swiss francs (around £34), brand new. There were loads in the local toy shop. I just couldn't pass this bargain and I do like a bit of Chima.

Saw a friends poly bag #30399 Bowling alley. Free with 20 CHF spend on new friends do summer wave sets. Might have to get the rollercosster at some point to pick up the poly

Yeah. The other toy shop has it at 140 swiss francs! Not sure they will shift them anytime soon. Much like the toys r us as well.

Picked up a Tower Bridge to both use a bunch of points as well as get the promotional Fountain. It's one set on my list that I fear will be retired at any point. (Although since it looks to make a nice companion to Big Ben, maybe it has a lot of time left.)

Yep, so I couldn't resist! Bought the hot dog stand and got the bowling alley free! Great buy. My wife has been really looking forward to getting this set so it's not for me to stand in the way (I was looking forward to getting it anyway)

Just nabbed a copy of Warren Elsmore's Brick Wonders for 17p on Amazon Marketplace! There are a couple more left at 16p each if anyone's interested, but they're only in 'Acceptable' condition...

And of course, earlier I was out stockpiling discount Mixels for various presents and prizes...

Nothing until I find something I like.   Which is a catch-22, the sets I look at the most tend to be the bigger sets, yet I find myself saying more and more, I'm not paying that for that!   So for now I look, but don't buy.....but that is perfectly ok, because I rather enjoy just window shopping as opposed to parting with actual money.
  • JooTogJooTog Member Posts: 945
Like @piratemania7, I am holding up until the 30th, the next promotion... or at least I am trying and failing very hard :-( The credit card statement I got today will sure help a lot :'-(

On the bright side, plenty on my backlog to keep me occupied.

I just ordered both from Smyths for £20.98! I needed the #76029 for my Iron Man collection and #76050 for Falcon and Black Widow.

#76029 - Iron Man vs. Ultron
    #76050 - Crossbones’ Hazard Heist

I picked up #70604 Tiger Widow Island last night, so I think that I only really want #70593 The Green NRG Dragon and possibly #70596 Samurai X Cave Chaos from the current line-up now.

I finally got round to building #70594 The Lighthouse Siege the other day, so I'll post a few thoughts for @chrisalddin in the thread that we were discussing it in earlier... If I can find it!

Edited to add: Ah... It was this one! ;-)

OK, just a few thoughts for you... I do like the set overall, but it does have a couple of oddities, which detract from the set, in my view.

First off, the selection of figs is good. You get Nadakhan, Flintlocke, Sqiffy and Clancee on the Sky Pirates side and Jay, Nya, Echo Zane and a Tai-D robot on the Ninja side. I don't have Misfortune's Keep, so getting Nadakhan is good for me.
The build was enjoyable, but there are a couple of design choices that don't make a lot of sense to me:
The steps up to the lighthouse look awkward at the top and the trapdoor feature is too small, so that it's difficult to get any fig to actually fall through it, especially if they have a weapon.
The hidden "dynamite dropper" above the door doesn't quite open enough, which means that the dynamite often gets stuck.
There is a folding table on the main floor which, to me, just looks awkward, as it is built upside-down. I see why they have built it in the way that they have, but it just doesn't look right.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to like about the set... It's an impressive height, looks great and has plenty of play-features for kids (and big kids!)... The light at the top works well and, again, looks good. There was also enough variety in the build to keep it interesting from start to finish.

No, I'm fine with just #70316, thanks, Chris... I have enough sets to get from themes that I'm more interested in... Especially #10247 Ferris Wheel... :-)

I had to rein myself in when I saw the Fortrex at that price. Maddening, but the house won't insure itself! But yes, if you can afford it, go go go! Suspect nobody will be disappointed with Jestro's Evil Mobile either; it's a fantastic set at a very good price.

^ Ask for an advance on your Christmas box! I am wondering Chris, with the rapid acquisition of sets, where do you have the room to display and the time to build? Display space is my biggest issue.

i have plans for more display space, but in the main. i change what i have on display, every now and then.
wish i could display all of it. but i dont have the room.
right now i only have 1 display place, all other places are in use as place to store set's untill i can get around to fixing my room again.
i keep putting off the work that will be needed.

as for building. i tend to do that on the weekend.
    1 set a week.
this ends up with me having quite the back log, the back log is so bad that i use brickset to help keep track of unbuilt sets

I also took advantage of the great deals on Amazon UK this weekend to buy:

    1. Ninjago #70605 "Misfortune's Keep" for £40.99 (41% discount)
    2. Speed Champions #75875 "Ford F-150 Raptor & Ford Model A Hot Rod" for £25.99 (35% discount)
    3. Star Wars #75140 "Resistance Troop Transporter" for £41.99 (30% discount)
    4. Creator #31036 "Toy & Grocery Shop" for £23.99 (31% discount)
    5. Friends #41101 "Heartlake Grand Hotel" for £63.99 (36% discount)

I wasn't aiming to get any more Ninjago until much later in the year since I just finished buying the last of the Possession sets! However, at 41% discount, I just couldn't resist.

I'm not really a fan of the Speed Champions theme since I rarely apply stickers but I'm a Ford fan and I've been tempted more than once to buy the hot rod set. A 30% discount was enough to tip the balance.

I missed out when the resistance troop transport was last heavily discounted on Amazon so I didn't pass up this chance.

I've had the toy & grocery shop in my sights for ages but just couldn't muster enough enthusiam to close the deal. However, the momentum from my other purchases enabled this purchase. I can use it for parts if i'm still not excited when i receive it.

The final purchase is an unusual one for me since I don't like the extreme colour schemes and ladies accessories that come with Friends sets. However, the heartlake grand hotel stands apart in scale and comes with a excellent range of pieces. I will definitely build it and may try adapting it to be more 'man' friendly!

I've ordered the Toy & Grocery shop as well.

I have stayed away from the speed champions so far because of the stickers, but I am tempted by both Ford sets for the minifigs.

I got four Disney CMF packs...got two Ariels (which I didn't have) and two Ursulas (I already had one), so I'm giving my friend one Ursula and one Ariel and returning the other Ursula.

Ursula is actually a cool figure, but I want Buzz! Apparently I have no idea how to pick them, or the might have been picked already. Sighs.

Got #76041 The Hydra Fortress Smash and #60067 Helicopter Pursuit, each @ $23.99. Was not planning on getting either one, but could not let pass the 40% discount and getting the #30346 Prison Island Helicopter promo... it's all good here at Jootogville :-)

I have not opened it, but I have felt it and along with the 'dot' code, it's Ursula. I have now decided to keep it, considering that it's going for about $10 in Amazon.

Ah. I feel slightly foolish now. I feel up the fig before I buy it. Never thought to do it the other way round and return it if I don't want it!

    What dot code?

^it's frowned upon whenever it comes up on the forum, and not sure it goes down so well in the UK.  Feeling them in the shop makes you better at it - I did a whole box of disney CMF to get a whole series and some spares in around 12 minutes as it's kind of awkward being the bloke groping the toy packets.  I'd be so much slower without that pressure refining my technique each new series.
The dot codes are the very lightly printed dots along the bottom seal of the packet.  They allow you to identify minifigures within a particular batch, but vary from box to box - if you are slow at feeling you can feel once then confirm other packets with the position/number of dots.

^ Thanks for the explanation. I once had a newly opened box all to myself for 15 minutes (shop owner had just opened it, and no-one else was in the shop to disturb me or for me to inconvenience) and I managed to work out that it wasn't random placement within the three rows and got through the box fairly quickly.

Also, in TLG stores the staff come over to help. Once had a crowd of people around me and a member of staff while we were trying to ID the figures.

I feel VERY awkward fondling the Disney CMF packets in the toy aisle, which is why the dot pattern worked for me yesterday...I got five packets, two of them Buzz Lightyear (finally! one for my brother who doesn't live in the US) and also found Lego 8084 for $2!

Question...Walmart also has LEGO 76013 Batman The Joker Steamroller for $49.99, is it a good buy?
