Packing to go home and realized I have more LEGO than clothes in my case. Priorities straight.

Really nice to see @shib for a couple of hours this afternoon. Then spent some time sorting parts ready for a couple of days' intensive building and finally found some rare printed Belville tiles I'd been searching for on and off for a couple of weeks! Success!

and when i tell others i don't use e-bay, people are surprised.
oh so you may see that killer deal on say GG, or CC, but, the stress for dealing with being out bid in the last moments, or the seller pulling out after the end of the sale. OR it being a out right con.
stress is bad for me. very bad.
    so i just don't use e-bay.

This is a bit of a delayed status - went to Prague this week for our wedding anniversary and while there managed to have a look round the Lego Museum.

They have a nice display of sets from throughout the years , although some of the builds could do with a bit of TLC (After building #10143, seeing the set not looking like it should was quite a shame).

I do wonder if it was because most of the staff there were of a younger generation and didn't have an appreciation of what they were working with or it's value.

They do still have a boxed #10179 (and many other MISB retired sets) for sale if you want a one stop retired set shopping spree and don't care about the price, as most of the sets there are available on Bricklink Cheaper than what was being asked.

I have set up a flickr page for anyone wanting to have a look.

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/albums/72157669013760105

Also, bumbling idiot question, could anyone could let me know how to put a link up without a mile long address coming up? I would be very grateful.

i am thinking about building a set today,
but i have no idea what to build.
i have lot's to build. over 40 sets.
going in size from a minifig poly-bag (Winter Soldier), passing 16 lego dimensions set's, all the way up to #10243.
i think i find it harder to pick what to build, then i do what to buy.
main point is, that until some point in September. as i have to pay back the bank of mum and dad "mostly mum". so therefor my lego buying is limited so i need to make what i do have to build last.
i could go on a Building frenzy. but then i would have weeks of no new stuff to build.
and as i find lego a grate way to keep my stress levels down. that would be bad.
so in the end the ultimate question is "what to build."

My status? Waiting for a 10% off eBay voucher to arrive that I want to use on purchasing some LEGO that doesn't seem to be arriving. Anybody else in the UK sign up to this on eBay with the promise of a voucher and not received it? Anybody know what's up with that? Have I just been tricked to sign up to their stupid mailing list and there is no voucher? Nobody on eBay seems to want to offer any assistance.

(I'm sure there's a better thread to ask this but I can't find it...)
Yes I have and no voucher either
    I am suspecting it's a con

After the debacle of the supposed 20% off offer which never materialised even though I was promised a voucher to replace it by 2 different ebay employees nothing they do surprises me
Hmmm, I ended up in a quick live chat with a CS employee to try and clear up the voucher confusion and he helpfully (yes, he was helpful, that's kinda rare for eBay ha ha) informed me that it could take up to 10 days for the voucher to appear in your account, and you are not emailed it apparently, it just appears in your account. Can anyone explain why promo vouchers appear in the Didn't Win section?

I really don't know why they just couldn't put that in the T&C's in the first place. As long as I'm not issued an expired voucher (the voucher is supposedly valid for 10 days) I suppose I'm fine with waiting, I've spent way too much this week as it is. I just wish they could be more upfront about how long you have to wait for it!

(I was also supposed to have a record of the live chat sent to my email, guess what, eBay didn't send one! Jeez, if I could get everything I buy outside of eBay I'd happily ditch it but as I also buy very specialised stuff and out of print trading cards, eBay is often my best option for it)

^ Sounds like the CS person was just trying to get rid of you to me... ;)
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Help me, I'm inside the M25! (UK)Member Posts: 1,359
^ Normally I'd think that, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't this time - at the end he asked me if I needed help with anything else. Normally I only get asked that by LEGO's own CS reps, who are always eager to help out and not usually in a rush to get rid of you, so that took me by surprise a little :o)

    @VorpalRyu...

    Store Policy:

It's only $1.00 for each time I have to bend at the hips, $0.75 for arm stretches and $0.50 for each time I scratch my head because I can't find the piece, and a $6.00 surcharge for any package taller than a dung beedle, but shorter than an Alaskan blue crab, plus shipping.  Unless you are more attractive than a Portuguese mongoose.  In that case, the shipping is free in the continuous provinces of Canada.  Except in New Brunswick, because they are pompous jerks.

Minimum order is $18.00, unless you are buying minifigures, where you much buy three minifigures, or one more than as many as you actually want.

If you're lucky, I'll cancel the one part you were actually looking for.

    Thanks for buying!

And I will ignore your first message after the order has been placed.

Got a shipment from Target.com yesterday, but internet was down, so no parting it out or doing other BL work until this morning.
@KingAlanI They were cut open to identify them. The numbers are the players' numbers on a clear piece of tape.
Thanks for the explanation. I opened some S15 for identification, but did it differently, so I hadn't recognized your work. (I made a more obvious cut in the CMF bag and put everything into a small ziploc bag labeled in sharpie)
I was the same as a kid; I saved for a few £15 - 25 sets but seem to have mostly bought £5-and-under ones, at least until a local Toymaster started heavily discounting in my late teens. So now I remind myself that I don't want the Ultimate Nexo Knights figures, because there are larger things to acquire!
Yeah, I wasn't aware of discount LEGO as a kid the way I am now. (When I refer to set value I use MSRP) I bought a couple Nexo Knights Ultimates, but to get parts for a MOC (Bricklinking the rest) and to make a couple online orders large enough for free shipping.

I noticed a building error on one of my displayed sets and then noticed I'd put a photo of the set on Flickr without noticing!

Status? Realized that I suck at MOCing, so 2nd #60050 Train Station will be just a mirrored version to make a long one. Will try to make the two LEGO stores a single, big one.
  • chrisalddinchrisalddin UKMember Posts: 2,860
well, in the end i built #60078.
i also moved some stuff i had to move some months back so the water system could be fixed. that stuff is now moved in to there new home. and away from my build table. after taking up space on there for quite some time.
now the only type of stuff left on my build table is other lego set's in storing box's.
just need to work out how to display them. and my room will be all of the good.

@SirBen Close. Right set but actually a rather larger error than that after I took the wings off and reassembled without the instructions. And it was only on one wing! A further clue: It's on the photography thread.

@SirBen Lol. I just had a close look at the photos. You're right! One of the small laser cannons has a barrel round the wrong way too! It must have been like that since I originally built it.

LEGO Minifigures - DFB Series (71014)

LEGO Minifigures - DFB Series 71014

After two trips to the LEGO Brand Store; opening 24 blind bags I finally completed my 'DFB Series' collection!

My first trip was couple of weeks ago, I picked up 16 random bags and got 12 out of the 16. Today I also purchased 16 to get the remaining 4 after opening 8 blind bags in total I finally own a full set!

I'm glad I waited and didn't pay for the remaining four on the secondary market. Just have patience, I was lucky enough to got to the store as soon as they stocked them. The second time really helped having them in person as I could feel for the exact hair pieces of the missing Minifigures and had I ordered them online I wouldn't of had any luck.

How is your 'DFB Series' collection going?
Would you happen to have a spare goalkeeper? That's the only one I'm looking for, and sadly they don't sell these in Malaysia.

Soy milk is the pits. I prefer Almond milk myself. Seems criminal to drink it, what with the drought in California, but you can make it yourself if you have some good appliances and a nut milk bag. Nothing like fresh nut milk squeezed out of a nut milk bag. ;)

Yes, imagine my immature tittering when I had to transcribe such a phrase multiple times editing some book for a freelance thing I took on for a super-stoned natural food guy who loved talking about the benefits of processing some nut milks from his nut milk bag. I'm laughing now thinking about him drinking a glass of his squeezed nut milk.

Slightly disappointed that my Big Bang Theory appears to be a second.
The perfect bound book is not perfect, the cover is badly cut.
Also two lipstick/markers have been omitted, but replaced with two silver cones.
Fortunately this was a spare BBT and I also have spare lipsticks from my Friends sets.
